Our first visit months ago was with a Groupon. Due to that, our choices were limited. That day the food was average, not good, not bad, but certainly nothing special. What intrigued us was the "specials" they listed for lunch - a $3 burger sounded great.

Fast forward to today. We finally had a chance to try it for lunch. Sadly, the $3 hamburger special was nowhere to be found. I had the 1/3 lb burger. It cost $6 and comes alone. I did order grilled onions for an extra 75 cents. My spouse had a Philly steak style sandwich with jalapeños. It was called the Tucson something and was priced at $7. Since neither came with a side, we ordered the Mac and Gouda cheese with bacon. It was under the entree section and was also priced at $7.

We each sipped a $5 beer on tap and they were long gone by the time our sandwiches arrived. Macaroni was dry and not very tasty. There were maybe 6 or 7 dime-size or smaller pieces of bacon on it.

Burger was ho hum. Bread was cold, which made the burger lukewarm. Not very appetizing. The other sandwich was just okay. Tab for a Friday lunch with tip $40. Way overpriced for below average food. We will not be back.

The chips were shiny with oil, and not tasty. The salsa was bland, and made out of canned tomatoes. Entrees come with no sides at all. They are ordered separately, and can't be ordered for one person. Everything but baked beans was a 2-person portion. That is just stupid. Why would anyone not allow all their diners to get exactly what they want? As a result, we ended up getting salads, which were uninspiring. Also, mine listed avocado as an ingredient, yet none was to be found. The food wasn't bad, but neither was it good. This area has far better restaurants. Avoid!

The concierge at the Ritz Dove Mountain suggested the Steak Out as a kid friendly local restaurant and he was right. It is a 1951 establishment and has a casual, ranch/old west atmosphere. We had lunch here with the kids and the burgers were terrific. The steak cut french fries were also great. The cobb salad was a bit heavy on the dressing but overall this was a great find and enjoyed by all of us.

Consistently good steaks and other meat dishes, with generous and crisp salads, and tasty unique side dishes. Good bartenders that don't short you on the drinks and even a live band on the weekends. Friendly and professional wait staff that attend to your needs closely. If you ask for Rare, or Medium Well, that's what you'll get. Always seem busy, but never overcrowded. For those living on the Far NW side, it's close by, for others, it's worth the drive. We've been about 5-6 times now with no disappointments.

We landed at this restaurant with some friends after they had heard about some great $5.00 burgers on Thursday nights. Well, we arrived around 6:30 on Thursday to be seated quickly, and then we waited, and waited, and waited for a server to finally bring us some water and chips with salsa and take our drink orders. There were no $5.00 burgers and the menu was a bit on the high side. 4 of my dining companions ordered the burgers, which were around $12.00 and claimed they were tasty even if a bit over-priced. I opted for the 1/2 rack of baby back pork ribs which cost $16.95 and came with a side of julienned veggies and a small cup of pinto beans. The salad arrived "family style" in one small bowl and 5 tiny salad bowls. The salad bowls were made out of some cheap wool-like product and mine was quite worn, as chunks of the bowl were missing! We had to ask for a second salad as the first was way too small for 5 hungry adults. Nothing impressive about the salad, basic torn lettuce, unripe tomatoes, red onions, packaged croutons, and a non-descript dressing in which we didn't have a choice. I have to say the ribs were excellent, fall off the bone tender with a sweet, mesquite smoked flavor. Beers on tap were $7.00!! I mean really, for a Budweiser?!!? I had the house Merlot ($5.50), standard. I hadn't read any reviews prior to going since this was a spur of the moment decision and our Friends choice. When we left, the bar was filled up and there were 2 musicians playing. Our dinner for 2 came to $43.00 before tip and included one glass of wine, no appetizers or desserts. I think this place is overpriced for what you get, and the service is on the spotty side, that being said, our server, was quite wonderful and funny and ensured we had plenty of chips, water, and made us smile. I think this restaurant could be improved by upping the quality, upgrading their dinnerware, and maybe adjusting their prices somewhat. The toppings for steaks, were $5.00 - $6.00 extra! The pinto beans I didn't care for, they had a sweet flavor and were too soupy. Many of locals might know that this restaurant was originally and still in Southern Arizona in Sonoita, and the steaks back in the day were priced right, and delicious. All in all I would not recommend The Steak Out, there are just too many other wonderful steak places in town.
