Me, my husband, and my fourteen-year-old son arrived at the hotel at 2:30 in the morning. As soon as we arrived our expectations lowered. We were chucked into a dirty room, which they would call "one of the best family rooms". (They must have obviously been blind!) My son had to sleep with us on the bed, which could not even fit three of us together! The next morning we went down to reception and complained about the room. They immediately put us in a different room, which was much smaller. Just like the previous room, it was filthy and run down, just worse!

The mattresses were ripped and badly soiled. The beds were uncomfortable, the walls were covered in damp and dirt, and the shower was missing a cover! Switching it on didn't make anything better, the water regularly came and went, and hit us as if we were being hit by a pile of stones!

Even outside the rooms, conditions did not improve. Cats and dogs roam around the hotel freely, near the guests and around dining tables during meals. We tried our best not to have any contact with the animals, especially when their appearance suggested they were infected with some sort of disease! The bar is also in a bad state. Beverages are mediocre, and chilled drinks are served warm. Bottled water is not available, so we had to walk down the shops every two days. The music is very repetitive, and is sometimes inappropriate around children e.g. swear words, sexual innuendo etc.

The staff themselves speak hardly any English, despite living in a tourist-type area. The food is anything but glamorous, and is constantly repeated every day for breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner. The food is always served cold, and whatever is served in lunch is repeated again for dinner. There is no consideration at all in presentation and health and safety, as all the foods have just been chucked over the tables as if they're expecting animals to eat it. All the foods taste sour, and the quality of the products themselves is vile.

Whatever you do, do NOT stay at Samdan Hotel. It will be the worst mistake of your life!

The Jardim family, England.

Room Tip: Do not choose any rooms! Get out of the hotel immediately, otherwise your holidays will be ruined!

Arrived at Samdan Hotel at 2.05am on Monday 23rd July for a week in the sun as the weather at home had been so bad, no one on reception so had to seach the place to find someone to check us in, found them up at the pool bar and they came down only to say there was a room for the other couple who were on our flight but Olympic had not informed the hotel that we were arriving so had no room ready for us, we were told that we would have to wait until after 4am for the maid to come on before they could sort out a room. At that time in the morning and after traveling for 13 hours all you want to do at that time is go to bed and sleep! NOT IMPRESSED!!!! Told the receptionist it was not good enough and they had better sort something out quickly. There was a lot of talking in Turkish so we didn't know what was being said and then a Turkish man came out of one of the rooms by reception and we were told that the room was ready. We were shown the room and went to bed. The next day we went to reception and asked if we were staying in that room or would we have to move as we think a member of staff gave up the room for us to stay in! We were told that was our room for the week so we unpacked and settled in. When we booked the hotel it said we would have a TV and a fridge but there was nothing and you couldn't make yourself understood as the hotel staff didn't speak very good English. Went up to Breakfast which wasn't anything special and then went to sit by the pool for the day to find there were sunbeds with towels on but nobody on them and there wasn't even enough people in the pool for all the occupied sunbeds, the pool looked very murky and grubby and there were lots of broken slats around the pool edge which about 3 people went through and broke. There was loud music playing the whole time. Some of the tracks that were played would not be allowed in front of small children at British and other places as they contained swear words, but the barman come DJ thought he was doing a wonderful job when all everyone really wanted was some peace and quiet! Overall if you like nothing but Turkish food and cold food come to that, then this is the place for you! We found that the hotel had about 40 rooms and 35 of them were occupied by Turkish families which most were very rude and very greedy, taking plates and plates of food and then just leaving it on the table so no one else could have it! For an all inclusive hotel all the drinks you could have in your package was the local beer, the local vodka, red or white wine and soft drinks. We asked for Brandy which when we looked at it is was a local Brandy we were told "EXTRA". The water was in a water cooler which was a big plastic bottle which the barman took away and refilled when it was empty! The so called beach was made up of builders sand and a pontoon to walk down to the sea!! Oh don't forget the music which was near enough the same as the hotels!!! Food and drink is also "EXTRA" down on the beach even though the beach is part of the hotel!!

Room Tip: Don't book this hotel !!!!!!

We have stayed in hostels at 9 euros a night that where better than this hotel, the location is good and actually the hotel would be if they would spend some money on an overhaul, small and friendly and not far from a very nice village with lovely reasurants we ate at ALI BABA's a set meal freshly caught fish with salad and some roast peppers ect and a drink for about £6 back to the hotel
The staff where friendly but not in your face friendly which was nice.
the food was edibable but not much flavour and i am not a picky eater
If you can look beyound the need for this hotel to be decorated there is no reason why you shouldn't have a good holiday
Make sure to put a towel on a free sun lounger otherwise you won't get one
Would we go back NO only because there are so many other places to visit

Room Tip: i think they are all basically the same all faceing the pool and garden

Awfull food, Not much selection and had flies all over it, only had about 20 sun loungers around the pool for about 90 guests so they were always reserved. The few times we actually ate in this hotel we were unwell. Felt sorry for the staff as they were really friendly and had to deal with constant complaints from many guests. Hotel itself was basic and not the cleanest but was very pretty. Chose this hotel as it was sold to us as a nice quiet getaway but constant loud music was played form the bar way after they stopped serving drinks. Also chose to have all inclusive as the position of the hotel was about a half hour mini bus trip from bodrum but because the food was so bad we chose to do this trip everyday so we could eat some good clean food.
Also the shower didn't hardly ever have hot water and when it did it was barely a dribble and there was a plug socket hanging out of the wall, only one tiny bulb worked in the bathroom so had to shower in the dark. Spend slightly more and you could get a way better hotel! Anyone who is satisfied with this hotel has no standards what do ever!

I've just come back from a week all inclusive at the samdan and it was a total waste of money! we ended up eating out after realizing that the food they serve up is put out time and time again. Most of the guests including myself ended up with really dodgy guts. The reps here will rob you of your money, DO NOT book your excursions with them no matter how friendly they seem! Our Reps were called Erkan and Kadir! They will charge you double, sometimes more & most of us were all charged different prices for the same trip. You will get them all in the town of Yalikavak which is roughly a 10/15 minute walk away. The only thing I wouldn't recommend is the trip to Dalayman to see the turtles. It is a 12 hour round trip and you get dumped on the beach for just 1 hour and will be lucky if you see even 1 turtle! Also if you book a trip and then can't go because you are ill, like I was and a couple of others they will promise you your money back but then don't turn up to give it you after making you waste a day waiting around for them!A total of 400 Lira was owed in the end because he kept fobbing us off with excuses as to why he couldn't come to the hotel so please be aware if you do decide to stay here!! The reps are not to be trusted! One of them even sexually harrassed a girl staying at the hotel & it took most of the day for him to get the message after being asked by several ppl to leave her alone!! I would definintely NOT stay here again, the rooms are basic which was ok but the bathrooms were not clean, the shower didn't work & it smelt like a sewage system and when we asked for clean towels after the 1st day we were told towel changes are every 3 days, it took them 5 days to change our towels and bed sheets!! we had to buy new towels from the nearby market. I know ppl will say you get what you pay for but at the end of the day, no matter how much has been paid you are spending your hard earned cash on what should be a relaxing holiday. a bit of respect, cleanliness and well cooked food should be paramount!

Room Tip: Pick another hotel or go self catering at a nearby villa!

I stayed here with my husband last year, and am shocked that this place is still in operation, if you have booked this and cannot change take your camera and collect evidence of the poor condition. Myself and some ther people that stayed here last year did and fought with our travel providers and we all got some compensation. There is a template letter on the Internet that you can download and use, failing that you can speak to your credit card company that will take on your claim after all you are not getting what you paid for under the Mis description Act. Don't forget to get some complaint forms from the rep. I honestly know from first hand experience of this place and it is as bad as they say. I do feel sorry for all those that have paid for this place that have worked hard for and get this dump. Like I said quite a few of us got up to £150 refunded. The more money they have to refund the more somebody will stand up and take notice that this place needs intervention.
