Dear all, we went to this hotel Mai 19th till May 26st.2012. We had a very pleasant stay. We are from holland and have read very negative things about the hotel . Nothing of that is true.
The personell at the reception, lobby bar, pool bar and buffet restaurant are very nice, you can ask them anything.Something they are a little bit too fast to clean your plate, but are willing to do a lot. The food is very different. Turkey, beef, chicken, pizza, goulash, very much vegetables, rice, noodles, salads, deserts !!! Everything enough !
The rooms, are also very clean. everyday clean towels, bed, etc. Something even made with flowers ! The Spa are very friendly people and the spa is great ! The hairdresser is very good and very nice,on my birthday I came out of the spa and he did my hair in 15 minutes I looked great ! ( for free !! Many thanks for that !)
The animation team is very friendly,I think there is a new team, because they do all kinds of things around the pool starting at 10:30.( aquarobic, darts, music games etc. ) every evening a nice show starting at 22:00.
All together we had a great time. Hope we can come again with our children.( we won this hotel by auction ) So nothing bad to tell !!

Food good, room good, amenities good, service good, weather poor.
Hotel will be much more appreciated when one can spend more than two days by the pools.

Room Tip: maain building ground floor, thus saving too much time in elevators and able to walk to the facilities

Please think before going to this hotel. The food was terrible and always cold. The only meat was chicken and in general the food was poor. The animation team never done anything apart from play loud music round the pool. There were stray dogs round the pool and on the beach. Cats in the dining room. There is nothing in walking distance of this hotel. The only good thing about the hotel were the staff.

Dear Louise,

thank you for your opinion. This year (2012) we have changed the system of the Buffet in the main restaurant. Now we have a variety of delicious dishes. As to the meat dishes, no we have beef, veal, chicken, turkey. Every evening we serve grilled meat or fish and meat dishes like rissoles, meat turkish pizzas, ragout etc.
Moreover there are two a-la-carte restaurants – italian restaurant and fish restaurant.
We also have the new animation team which organizes daily daytime games and also evening entertainment (every evening) like special shows, Turkish Night, Fakir Show etc. After the shows our guests are welcome to the hotel disco.
Our hotel is located on the most beautiful bay of Tilkicik and it is proud of the clean water and beautiful nature around. The nearest village to the GOLDEN AGE BODRUM hotel is Yalikavak – 2 km. Every 20 minutes there is a bus from GOLDEN AGE BODRUM to Yalikavak where there are a lot of nice cafes, boutiques, bars and shops. Ones a week there is a traditional bazaar in Yalikavak. In Yalikavak you can take a bus to the center of Bodrum.
We hope to see you again in GOLDEN AGE BODRUM to estimate our new facilities and service.

Kind regards,

Golden Age Bodrum Management

We were originally booked an All Inclusive 7 night holiday in the Crystal Hotel but due to it closing early, we were told our hotel had been changed to Golden Age a couple of weeks beforehand. I read the reviews for Golden Age and quite honestly was a little worried about what to expect.
There were 6 of us all together, my two daughters aged 34 & 17 and my Grandchildren aged 11, 8 & 5.
On arrival at 3am, tired and weary, we were happy to find we had 2 clean bedrooms. However unlike my previous holiday in Turkey I was disappointed to find that there was no bottled water in the mini fridge. As it is not sensible to drink the water in Turkey this posed a bit of a problem for me as I take medication and do get very dehydrated at night. The reception was very helpful when I called and brought me two 500ml bottles of water immediately to my room. The next morning I found that Bottled water was not included in the all inclusive package and I had to purchase bottled water from the hotel shop. you could however have a glass of water if you asked for it at the bar. It wasn't until the end of the holiday that I learnt that I could have asked to have the bottles refilled at the bar. Oops silly me.
Apart from the bottled water and lack of crisps and ice cream, I can honestly say that we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday. The weather was fantastic, The rooms were cleaned daily and the lady who cleaned the rooms would leave us little towel sculptured hearts and swans on our beds and posies of flowers.
The staff were fantastic, funny and attentive especially Mehmet . Fantastic with the children too. This was their closing week but they remained enthusiastic in ensuring that we all had a good time.
I agree that the animation team were pretty basic but we were on a family holiday so didn't want or expect to palm our kids off to a children's club for the week. We made our own entertainment, enjoyed the company of other holiday makers and the children all made friends with other children. My 11 year old grandson took a telescopic fishing rod with him and had great fun fishing off the jetty at the hotel. The pools were fantastic if not a little chilly but only when you first got in, but hey it's October & end of season what do you expect. We spent the evenings socialising in the bar and learning the Turkish game OKEY (with an English/Dutch influence to the rules).
The food was plentiful and well cooked. Lots of Chicken, Fish and salads. Lovely fresh bread. The soup was fantastic too. The desserts were very turkish (very sweet pastries and cake).
Eating al fresco at the hotel could be a little annoying due to the number of cats wandering in the hotel grounds and meowing to be fed (I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone with a cat allergy).
The hotel was a short bus ride from the village of Yalikavak which has some lovely gift shops with great end of season bargains. I would also recommend the self service bar / cafe on the seafront where we bought a bottle of beer, a small bottle of white wine, three cans of pepsi and an apple juice for 16TL (less than £6).
The excursions at the hotel a a little pricey and you can buy the same in Yalikavak much cheaper.
We went into Bodrum for a Chinese meal at the Hong Kong restaurant on the marina. The hotel made the reservation for us and we had a courtesy bus take us into Brorum and bring us back to the hotel. The bus took us in at 3pm and brought us back at 8:30pm giving us some time to look around this fantastic ancient city.
The hotel closed the day we checked out and we didn't leave the hotel until 20:15 (almost the last guests to leave). Although check out time was mid day, we were able to keep our rooms until we left and we were given our evening meal at 7pm for a small charge of 50 TL for all 6 of us (less than £20).
Considering this was a low price holiday I think we had excellent value for money.

Dear Val P,

Thank you for you detailed review,

This year (2012) we have changed our concept. Your mini bar in the room is filled on your arrival day with two bottles of water. Later you can get water in bottles in the hotel shop or on bars with charge. Water (and other drinks) in glasses are available 24 hours on the Lobby bar.
Our hotel shopping area provides an ample range of goods for you – among them ice cream and crisps.
The outdoor pools may seem chilly at the end of season, that's why we have now the indoor pool which is heated.
We are glad that you have spent nice holidays in GOLDEN AGE BODRUM.
Hopefully you will visit us again and estimate the new concept of our hotel.

Kind regards,

Golden Age Bodrum Management

Also were moved to the Golden Age just before our holiday was due to begin from the Crystal Beach.
Arrived early hours of the 15th October and were taken to our room, in a seperate building away from the main part of the hotel. Had seperate bedrooms for the adults n kids. Also had a balcony which had a so so view, was also a lot quieter than the main hotel rooms. We were happy, not the ritz but more than acceptable.

Next morning, the staff told us we were only put there for one night and we were moved to the main hotel. Fab room, with two balconies, fab views, 2 large comfortable armchairs, clean and plenty of towels. Bit noisy compared to our first room and we were all in one large room, but we were very pleased.

Food is a bit repitive but the price we paid for our holiday would only have covered the flight and hotel room so I counted every meal and drink as being free, so no complaints. Except for one.....everytime we went to the bar to get a vodka and coke we had to get two extra cokes to water it down or we would have been drunk every day!!!!

Staff were lovely, especially to our little boy Wyatt who is a dwarf, they were fabulous with him. The lady who cleaned our room was great too, nothing was too much trouble for her, she even left us a little posy of flowers. Lovely touch.

So all in all, 10 day hol with 8 days fab weather, met some lovely people, happy happy happy.

Don't miss Hong Kong Billy or 3 Brothers, great meals.
