“Wonderful retreat, really grew on us, we want to come back”

I've been meaning to write this review for awhile to tell Frank what a great place he has. When we first arrived, Frank's people led us down to the cottage through the walnut & olive trees, showed us what the walnuts were (though they didn't speak much English, we managed to understand each other), and a platter was waiting for us in our room with some local food and homemade fig jam (we've tried to find fig jam like that ever since). There were also fresh flower petals strewn on our bed (mattress on floor). We were a bit surprised at the smallness & rusticity of the cottage despite having seen the photos. For the first half-day we had to work to adjust to the space.
By the last day (5th), we loved the place.

Our arrival each night added to the idyllic feel of the place. We would turn off the road, go through a village, then drive a mile up a gravel road to Frank's driveway. Then Frank's two dogs would lead us on foot down the rocky moonlit trail to the cottage and stay with us for a few minutes while we petted them & gave them treats. Then when we were ready to be alone, we would just open the gate and they would go back up the hill.

Other than the main room, there is a very small kitchen with basic utensils (we didn't use it much) and a bathroom with a toilet, sink and shower all in one open space (with a drain in the tile floor). One simple improvement would be a squeegee on a long stick for getting excess water off the bathroom floor after a shower. That would be a great help for keeping feet dry & the floor in the rest of the place clean.

Thank you Brad for this very nice review. Yes, I understand the water on the bath floor. It is very Bodrum and almost all Bodrum Village houses use a shower like this. Do I approve. NO.It is too small a space to put a curtain or shower closet but the sqeegee is easy so we will immediately do that. We are also going to change the current fold out bed to a proper bed and then also revamp and renew the small kitchen. Hard to make major revisions in this structure as the municipality will not approve a physical expansion. In summary 2014 is going to be upgrade year. Thanks for the positive input and hope you both come back one day soon..
