we just spent 10 days at the mellis hill from the moment we arrived which was 6.30am you are greeted by john with a warm welcome and from then all the staff (bayram-sunshine-emra(calamari) where fantastic for the whole of our stay!!! . The mellis hill is situated in a great place with fantastic views of olu deniz away from the main resort area down a dirt track which takes about 10 mins and is not lit a night but we had some laughs walking up after a few drinks down the town (but we got a taxi when we had to many!!). The mellis has a lovely pool with plenty of sunloungers.breakfast in the morning was served under the grape vined terrace which consisted of (bread-cheeses-tomatoes-olives and eggs -tea and coffee)which was included in the price of the room if you wanted a cooked breakfast there was a small charge. The rooms are basic and clean we started with a room down below the pool but we had a problem with the plumbing when i told them they moved us up into the block above the pool( which we found were much better than the others) and they did this within 10 mins nothing was too much trouble . people have complained about the smoking i smoke myself but my partner does not and she did not have a problem as the bar area is outside and being on the hill there is a lite breeze blowing and most of those staying when we were there did smoke so where the person calling for a goverment health warning is coming from we dont know .
and to slag off everyone who went to turkey this year as chain smoking obese beer swilling uk tourists is an absolute joke you should have booked yourself into a bournmouth old peoples home for a week !!anyway we had a great holiday and done some fanastic trips.
paragliding was excellent you have to try it (not easy riders thou) we met some fantastic people whilst at the hotel (you know who you are)we thank selda and suha and all of the staff at the mellis hill for making our holiday a memorable one and will see you all next year.all the best lee and paula

Rooms were small and basic but very clean. Everything worked, including the essential air con. Food at the restaurant was decent. The pool was great. Great views of the sea, sorrounding mountains and Olu Deniz. You can easilt catch the Dolmus to Fethiye from the main road. Take a torch to find your way back up the path at night. Eating a fresh breakfast outside in the mornings was great.

Mellis Hill hotel is set just outside of the main strip in Oludeniz , slightly up the hill. From beach to hotel door it is about a 10 minute walk. Because of its location you have a gret view of the town and sea as the hotel is slightly elevated. The walk to and from town is down a dirt track, which is not lit but you can see the way if the sky is clear or with a torch.

The rooms above the pool are simple and nice, with air-con, wardrobe, balcony, hairdrier, strong hot showers and comfortable beds. The room was too a reasonable standard and well worth the price paid. The only issues were the water took a long time to drain from the shower, but frankly who cares!!!! It was nice sitting on the balcony in the evening, staring at the sun setting over the town or watching the para gliders fly over head.

The bar staff are friendly and a lot of fun. Yes the noise can go on to late at night, but as we were often at the bar till late this did not bother us. On the occasion we went to bed early I found the noise did not interrupt my sleep. Perhaps this is not the case in the rooms below the pool as I have read from other accounts? It was an easy hotel to get to meet other guests and quickly form friendships, and we enjoyed many nights dancing or playing cards. Would be great if they had sky TV so you could catch up with some sport in the evening, although I am sure most wives would disagree! The cocktails are a must and come with sparklers for the girls. There have been many complaints about smoking. In Turkey it is commonplace everywhere you go to find many smokers, however don't let this put you of. Yes people smoke at the bar, including myself, but my partner does not. He said as the bar is open air it is easy to sit somewhere where there is no smoke. I am unsure how some people got the impression there were clouds of smoke billowing out of the bar as it is open plan. I think this was a slight exageration, however a no smoking area would be nice for those who don't like smoke.

The pool is lovely and big, there was always a sun lounger available with a parasol and side table. There were mainly couples around the pool and very few children so it was nice and relaxed. In fact most days we prefered to stay by the pool then go into town as it was so peaceful.

The food at Mellis hill was ok. The special bread and tsasiki was delicious, but generally the meal portions were a little on the small side (More salad and chips please), however the prices were cheaper then the town and the service great. To be frank the food in Oludeniz is generally of poor quality as it caters to a certain kind of crowd.

Oludeniz itself is not a mellow traditional town. It has the shops, beach, activities, restaurants and entertainment, but it lacks charm. It is targeted at your typical over weight football loving tattoooed english families. While that might sound mean it is undeniably true. You just have to walk down the main strip at night to see what i mean. If culture is what you are after go to Kalkan, but if days full of cheap activities and nights drinking beer are your thing then Oludeniz is your place.

We returned home from our holiday in Olu Deniz with sore throads and a chesty cough. Neither of us are smokers but it was the effect of passive smoking from the other guests and staff at the Mellis Hill who puffed throughout their stay.

The Mellis Hill hotel is situated in the lovliest location in Olu Deniz, Set on a hil with stunning views over Olu Deniz and of the ocean and surrouning mountains.

However all that is marred by the chain smoking of fellow guests and staff all of whom lit up throughout and puffed away our stay.

The Mellis Hill Hotel, like a pack of fags, should carry a government health warning said my wife one afternoon after a particularly bad bout of coughing from the level of smoke inhalation.

Because it is one of the cheapest hotels in Olu, it seems to attract the type of tourist who is a chain smoker. All of the staff and owners (apart from Della) smoked as well.

Bayram the barman is charming, but I can honestly say that I never saw him without a cigarette in his hand throughout our stay. Day or night Bayrham was puffing. As were the rest of the staff and all of the guests.

Our meals were marred by the continual smoking of fellow guests. Whenever you sat down for a pre or after dinner drink there was a cloud of smoke coming your way from the next table.

Same in Olu Deniz, all the Turks smoke.. like chimneys!. I have never been to a country where so many people smoked.

Turkey seriously must have one of the highest cancel levels of any country. I read that when the country placed a ban on indoor smoking there were riots of protest in the streets!. I can believe it!.

Because of the shrinking pound and subsequently it's value in relation to the Euro more of us Brits are going to Turkey. The queues at check in stretched for miles. It seems all of the UK were on their way to Turkey this summer. As a result it's attracted the bargain bucket Benidorm crowd.

"Like Blackpool' on speed is how a felllow guest described it. And he's so right!. Every bar features a 40" plasma screen with 'Burnley v. Newscastle'. or 'Manchester v Aston Villa' daily. Each bar packed out with large men downing pints cheering on their team.

At night Karaoke is everywhere. All of the restaurants will try to grab you in as you pass, with 'Roast Beef and Yorkshire' or Mushy Peas 'All Day English breakfast' chalked up of their blackboards.

You'll have to search hard to find a restaurant which serves genuine Turkish food, virtually non existent. We went into Fethiye for this.

Olu Deniz is a heaving mass of fat beer swilling burger munching chain smoking obese British tourists in high season, and to be avoided at all costs.

A previous poster says he was 'Misled' by his travel agent. I know how he feels.Mellis Hill gets great reviews, but no doubt those are from guests who had been allocated the nicer rooms above the pool. Our room was like a cell, hot humid and you paid extra for a/c.

Our toilet was inches from the shower which flooded the bathroom whenever we showered. There was no phone, hairdryer, fridge, seat even to sit on. It's basic to say the least.

I reckon Wormwood Scrubs would have more amenities than Mellis Hill.

The chain smoking owners are charming, but they are aware of how basic their rooms are and just smile sweetly when you tell them you did ask for one of the upstairs rooms when you booked.

We did not mind the 15 minute trek to the town and beach, at night it's pitch black and you will need a taxi, which will cost you 10 lira each time.

Ladies the lads who work at Mellis are oozing charm, non more so than 'Sunshine' aka Brek who lays it on like treacle, hugging the older more solvent single guest. Borek's mssion is to study in the UK.

Borek plans to do a Master's in International Relations at the LSE. This would set a Brit back at least a cool 20 grand. How a Turkish waiter aims to pay for this is anyone's guess. Like I said he does charm the older solvent ladies. So be warned!. Immigration is getting more difficult these days, and the majority of Turkish males will do anything to escape poverty, and the inevitable military service, so charming a British woman is part of the course.

Turkey is beautiful, as is the area surrounding Olu Deniz. Just do not visit in high season. Not unless you enjoy a beach packed like sardines with very large pink bodies, the smell of greasy burgers and chips, and the roar of the drunken football fans as they cheer on Burnley!

This hotel was a last minute bargain! Although the hotel was a 10 minute walk from Olu Deniz town, this was ideal as it was very quiet (apart from the mosque 5am call) and our room overlooked the walk down to the town. The breakfast was included, simple but did the job! The staff at the hotel were extremely helpful and friendly and the pool was beautiful. The food at the hotel restaurant wasn't great - better off walking into town and trying some of the amazing restaurants along the beach front, however try the ice cream sundaes they were great. One downside - we had to pay an extra 3TLR a day for the air con which was unexpected as the package we bought stated it was included. Tip - unless you like sitting on a coach for 7 hrs a day, dont do the 2 day trip to ephesus and the cotton castle! However the boat trips are excellent value for money, cheaper than sitting on sunbeds on the beach if you take your own water
