“Book another if you can”

I think if I had booked this six months in advance I would have been very disappointed. A very basic resort, which should only be used as some where to stay while you plan trips away from it. On arrival I was hit with a £25 charge for the aircon (that’s over £3 a day!!). Turkey is having a heatwave! This was a first for me. I also asked about a security box and I was told that it would cost £15 for a safe! Not a deposit for the key as is usual, but a non refundable £15!! I have read the other entries and I think you will find that the true mark of a great place to stay is not how it was if nothing goes wrong, but how they deal with you when things don’t go right! If you were prepared (like a lot of people at this place seem to be) to get up at 5am and put your towel on the best sun beds, in the best locations, you were set for the day....even if they didn’t get to their sun lounger until late morning! As stated in a previous report the bar staffs were happy to serve you if you were blond and female and about 16, or if you had given them a large tip before hand. Other than that don’t hold your breath to get served. Theft from your room seems to be common (I didn’t know about the other occasions) and the management will not do a thing to help you!! My daughters had a number of items go missing from their room. None of this is said out of malice, it’s just a true representation of our stay. The best thing about the food is that you don’t have to walk far to get away from it. The locals are interested in talking to you if they think they can get money from you. If you stand your ground and won’t cough up they look all indignant and can’t be bothered. Be wary of Tarzan (yes that’s his real name) who will try and get you to have a picture taken by his brother at this hotel. They will then try and get £8 a picture from you! The water slide is not monitored, which is fine if you are an adult but when you let your kids run around and have fun and you watch as they get struck by other people coming down the slide at warp 7, well I was surprised that there wasn’t a child badly injured. Tiles around the pool are the wrong type. I watched six people one day slip walking along towards the bar. One man hit his head so hard it sounded like a coconut being dropped, I was sure he would have fractured his skull! I’m not looking for a place that is posh, but I do expect that my kids are safe from injury and that my belongings are there when I get back from the pool and not have to put all my stuff in a carrier bag and walk up to reception to place them in the safe just so that the cleaned doesn’t steal them!! And the final nail in the coffin that got me was that we had booked Tuesday to Tuesday. A 22.00 flight which got to the hotel at 07.00 ( that was our first night out of the seven night stay) which meant that we ended up sleeping for a number of hours on the second day, but the day we left the rooms had to be vacated at 12.00, the pickup wasn’t until 14.30 but the receptionist insisted on cutting our ‘ALL INCLUSIVE’ bands off at 12.00 which meant that anything else we wanted (lunch, drinks etc) had to be paid as an extra. Read the other negative entries, they are a true reflection of this place.

This hotel is very intimate in it's setting, and whilst the management may be lacking the staff are not. They all work incredibly hard to ensure you have a fantastic holiday. When we arrived so many people told us we where in for the holiday from hell, but that couldn't be further from the truth. Any holiday is what you make of it and if you want to sit in your room and watch tv waiting for your burger and chips then don't bother because they don't have either. This is were the Turkish go on holiday, so expect Turkish food. A little samey, but plenty of inexpensive eateries within walking distance.
The rooms are basic but clean with sheets and towels changed daily if required. No evening entertainment but we would eat dinner, take a walk into the bustling town and then back to the hotel for drinks. Because there is no entertainment the guests interact, and we met some truly lovely people. The children all got on as well and it really illustrated the fact that you don't need to speak the same language to communicate.
I know my husband will say that he enjoyed the water football the most, alongside throwing just about everyone in the pool and creating his own tsunami when he came down the slide. Yes thats right I'm big Jon's missus.
The slide is only on 3 times a day, and quite a few people seemed unhappy about this but if it was on all the time no-one would use it.
The only down side to this holiday was those people determined to find fault and be miserable, and we met a few of them, but rise above it and make your own fun. I went away with husband, 15. 12 and 11 year old and we would all come back again.
Yes you get what you pay for, but I also think the staff go the extra mile. Especially when they all came out to wave us off and Alex (cheeky bar man) tried to get on the coach with us.
See you next year, Big Jon, Louise, Ross, Josh and Ellen x

on arrival we unpacked, or rather sorted out our cases as there was no draw space and the wardrobe smelled musty. the pool area could have been great but the matresses on the loungers were mostly cracked and grubby. Later we went up to have a shower-shower broken so we had a wash down at the sink-no hot water. reported the broken shower, were accused of breaking it and asked to pay £60 before they would have it repaired. We refused and did not have use of a shower or hot water for the week we stayed. The food wasn't great and not covered in the buffet area. Room facilities advertised:- All feature bathroom? direct line telephone, satellite tv, air conditioning mini fridge and hair dryer - none existent and if we had a hair dryer we couldnt have used it as the solitary socket in the room had a notice attached - BEWARE CHANCE OF ELECTRIC SHOCK. Non of these facilities were provided. ~£25 was required if we wanted to use the air con. or the safe. All our spending money went on eating out. We did not see our rep all the week but Nicky the golden trail rep tried to help by speaking to reception and the manager on our behalf but they didn't want to know. We spoke to the manager ourselves but he too accused us of breaking the shower. When the time came to leave the reception said we would not be allowed to leave until we had paid for the shower. Spoke to the manager by phone which we were charged 15tl for and he was abusive and said if we didn't pay he would call the police. We refused to pay and invited him to call the police, but they didn't. We finally managed to get in touch with our rep. and told him we were having problems and would he please come and sort it out. He said he would sent someone over but no-one came. Then the reception demanded our passports which we refused. they said they wanted to copy them which we also refused. When our transfer mini bus arrived two of the staff ran out and told the driver not to take us as we owed them money. I explained the situation to the driver and showed him our transfer document and said if he didn't take us, we would call the police. He spoke to his office and then to the hotel staff who said we could leave. The young receptionist was getting quite upset and asked me to write a letter to say that we refused to pay. It seemed to us that she was terrified that the manager would accuse her of obtaining the £60 and keeping it. I wrote a note to say that I refused to pay for a shower we had not broken. That it was broken when we arrived and was still broken as we left. She appeared relieved. There was an awful lot of thieving going on at the hotel. People were reporting money, english cigarettes, clothing and spirits being taken but nobody was interested and nothing was done about it. we were not the only ones accused of causing damage. Apparently someone else was accused of breaking a shower the week before and someone was accused of breaking a door. Both were asked for £60.

On arrival we were informed we were staying in a room below ground level, on refusal and being told there was no alternative rooms, miraculously one was found, we were then given a room above ground level which was clean and adequate, within 48 hours of arrival our room had been robbed twice, no apology from management was forthcoming, only suggestion from Vedam rep was go and report it to the Police Station, Our belongings continued to be rifled through daily with small items disappearing, the theft did not stop until we instructed the hotel staff to not enter our room and to keep the cleaners out.

Food was scarce, food was imported from another hotel down the road which can mean quite a lengthy wait between vegetables and protein items.......

Drink was watered down, several vodka and cokes still didnt manage to intoxicate us or other guests slightly, but the drink did manage to give us a sore throat. Bar staff tried to charge you for drinks that you dont order or drink by putting them on the counter after the 11pm cut off time.

Another guest was demanded money of £50. to repair a showerhead that was reported damaged on arrival, the screw was corroded but the guest was harassed the whole fortnight for the £50. and refusal meant a wash in the handbasin everyday.

The bar staff thought they ran the hotel, and were quite rude to all and sundry, unless you were young and blonde, whereas you could drink free outside of all inclusive hours. Alex a member of the bar staff was particularly rude, don’t be confused this is a different Alex to the barman who was employed and was very pleasant by all accounts.

After saying all the above and more, we managed to have a good holiday by going down to Hisouronu everynight.

Although the hotel advertises entertainment, there was none.

Nicky the Goldtrail representative was helpful to all.

On a positive note we met some very nice people..

My advice dont dont dont go to this hotel. There are a lot nicer hotels around and about.

We booked to stay after reading all the bad reviews of 2008 and the positive of 2009.

In fairness to the hotel you get exactly what you paid for a basic 3 suns resort with very basic but functional rooms. The food is very repetetive and bland but is all safe to eat if a little strange at times. The bar only includes 4 spirits 1 beer and Spite, Fanta, Coke as the all inclusive drinks.

The Gold trail rep Nicky was great even though we did not book with them.

This holiday was what you made of it we could of all sat around moaning at the facilities (a lot of people did) but the majority of people just got on with it and made it a great holiday.

The only realy negative point was the bar staff who have been changed since the beginging of the season and now include some of the previous years staff. They treated it like there own private club and constantly changed the music kept on turning the music up so load you had to shout to the person stood next to you, and were rude, arragant and moody.

If you haven't booked don,t do it.
If you Have booked remember a holiday is what you make of it.

We booked this holiday last minute at a bargain price and then read the reviews. To say we were aprehensive would be an understatement but it was totally unneccesary. The staff were great and worked so hard and very long hours but couldn't do enough for you. The rooms are basic and we had a lovely view of the slide! but as we didn't spend hardly any time in the room/balcony it didn't really matter. We had loads of hot water and a really powerful shower. The rooms were cleaned every day and we cannot fault the room service, fresh towels clean sheets what more could we want for the price. The food was never in our opinion regarded as slop!! it was lovely and more importantly TURKISH, if you want English food and a full English breakfast then stay in England or go to Spain!! The pool is clean and great fun with the slide, we went with our 18yr old daughter and her boyfriend and they had the time of their lives and want to go back on their own and stay in this hotel again next year. We all had a great time and this was our 5th time to Turkey the people are lovely and friendly without all the hassle. We are fortunate to have travelled many times and to many places and we have stayed in luxury hotels and budget, this hotel is great value for money and we wouldnt hesitate to stay in this hotel again.

Hotel staff young but great. Hotel management very very poor. If you have booked with ANATOLIAN SKY you will not see a rep. But Nicky the golden trail rep will help you. My partner and I went for a hotel that had a tv in our room so I could watch tennis,[as advertised] . Also don't forget to take your hair drier.[also advertised]
