After reading the positive reviews about this hotel on this site we went on this holiday looking forward to it. Where do I begin? We arrived at 3am in the morning only to be greeted by the most miserable receptionist I have met, and check your booking and paperwork that he gives you as he gave us someones else's. We went straight to our 'room' if you could call it this. It was down in the basement really dark and dingey, you couldn't tell if it was day or night and we had a resident 2inch spider in a thick web that spanned about a foot. The bed, well it was more like a child's bed, my partner who is 6ft 1in couldn't sleep that night as his feet hung over the bed by about 6ins. Next day we spoke to reception to asked to be moved and they said that there were no other rooms unless we were prepared to pay £20 extra per night for an upgrade. We spoke to the rep who then spoke to reception and magically a room was found for us 2 days later.
This room was slightly better but the standard of cleanliness in the rooms left a lot to be desired, sheetsnot changed, cigarette burns on bed cover, (we found the cleaners cupboard and helped ourselves to bedding and towels as this was the only way that we had clean ones). The bedroom floor was not swept as there were toe nail clippings that had been there since the day we arrived.
The food slightly improved during our second week but was of a very low standard and some of the food was unrecognisable and was not labelled. Breakfast was the best meal of the day and although you had to wait for the eggs and omelettes to be cooked this was not a problem as you knew they were fresh. Just put it this way if you were presented with the same food in a restaurant in this country you would send it back.
The waiters rushed you as they were always hovering to take your plates , you couldn't leave you meal on the table to get a drink as it would be taken. I was disabled and no staff offered to help me. Stay clear of the orange juice in the machine as it is reconstituated from powder and sweetened with artificial sugar.
You are probably thinking that we are wingers but we are very open minded and don't easily complain.
The toilets in the public areas were filthy and smelly. Beware of sitting on the padded seats around the bottom pool as these were often wet with people sitting on them in wet clothing ,spilt beer and god knows what else.
There are two pools and the top one is quieter but beware you have to be up early to get a sun bed (I thought it was on the Germans). The bottom pool was like a cross between the Jeremy Kyle show and Trisha. A lot of children running around out of control.
The bar at the topwas nice of a night but very sterile with no atmosphere. On a positive point most of the bar staff were friendly with the odd one that went out of theirway to help you. The bar manager spent a lot of time talking to selected guests but is very arrogant and doesn't seem to do anything apart from drinking mineral water and smoke.
We kept our room on on the day we went home which cost £20 but we didn't get any clean towels to have a shower so once again we had to help ourselves.
On our first few days we only heard people compliment the hotel but we then heard people complaining and we all seemed to have experienced the same problems.
We thought we must be missing the point about this hotel as there were people who returned time after time but after seeing a listening the bad language and behaviour of some of the guests, you can tell these are the sort of people who are repeat visitors. This is not the hotel to go to if you like nice food ,peace and quiet and a high standard of cleanliness. They say 'you get what you pay for' and this is true in this instance. We have been on many all inclusive holidays prior to this one and we WILL DEFFINATELY NOT BE RETURNING TO THIS ONE. PS Check the mini bar on arrival because when you check out they try to charge you for drinks you did not have.

We have just returned to rainy UK from a fab 2 weeks..cannot understand the negative comments from some people for the price they say they have paid is ridiculous..i am a travel agent so know what to expect..here is how our family found the Greenland hotel;
LOCATION... set in magnificent surroundings ..picture perfect views. however we did find it too far to walk anywhere central with 2 young children. local dolmuses are very cheap though, drivers friendly and stop anywhere. daily coutesy bus to olu deniz.
FOOD.. Fresh, beautifully presented.Staff work very hard clearing tables to avoid clutter and attract bugs.(should this be a bad thing?).you can help yourself as much as you like..i didnt see anyone hungry with empty plates they all looked very full to me! We ate gorgeous beef, chicken, turkey, lamb, kebabs, fish with rices, salads, potatoes(or chips), breads.. all cooked to perfection.Desserts included mounds of strawberries, sponge cakes, baklava, chocolate eclairs and more. Breakfast was the normal of cereals, fruit, yoghurt, or you can have lovley freshly made omlettes or pancakes, lots of choice-all gorgeous...no upset tummies at all. chef and staff(especially mehmet, were lovely). The beer Efes is strong, the hotel wine is very good.
HOTEL; stayed in a family room in block 3 which was basically 2 doubles with an adjoining door, spotlessly clean, lots of space and maid did a great job cleaning for us every day.. pleasant and very hard working. lots of steps and inclines around property so no good for less mobile.
There are two large immaculate pools one at the top of the hotel that is aimed at adults the other had a great waterslide that our kids loved, great given that lots of turkish pools can be a bit pokey , the tiled pool area can be bit slippy though so beware.
ENTERTAINMENT; daytime bit limited but as i understand it they had lost staff from last year and are soon to have extras. i dont expect day round entertainment anyway.. joined in with darts and water polo. there was rifle shooting and the kids club was just getting going as we came away. evening could have started bit earlier 2130 was bit late for mini disco.kids managed it though and loved the dance routine they had on the go.
All in all this a lovely hotel with very good standards .. your holiday is what you make it , ..look for the negatives and you will find them in any hotel ..its a stunning part of turkey so go for it and enjoy (at least its sunny and hot!),

Travelled to this hotel in May 2010 for 2 weeks with my partner and in general had a good time. We have been on holiday three times before together, but this hotel is so friendly, not just the staff but there are guests at the hotel who have been going there for years and will always talk to you, you will make new friends at this hotel :-)
I'll start with the rooms, we had an ordinary room which we found to be fine, we have read complaints about them but no problems for us. You can upgrade to the "better rooms" which have plasma tv's and other such things in. The room was always nice and clean. You do have a mini bar in the room with beers and water in which you pay for; about £2 for a small can of beer.
During the day it's lovely to relax around either of the two pools, the top pool is extremely quiet with very little children, the bottom pool is were everything happens with the water slide etc. The only problem which we had was the pools are always near empty as they are freezing! There are 3 bars, one at each pool, and the evening bar which opens at 9pm.
Drinks are great, plenty of alcohol in the drinks (if that's what you like) and the beer is okay normal strength.
Staff are all great and really friendly, only issues is at meal times they will take your glasses and plates unfinished if you're not looking or have left the table.
The entertainment staff are lovely people it's just a shame about the entertainment itself; nothing during the day except outdoor darts and rifle shooting. The evening shows are pretty poor, karaoke, men vs women that type of thing belly dancing.
Reception staff are wonderful very friendly.
The hotel is always very clean, except for the pool toilets which don't get cleaned till later in the day and very rarely have toilet roll in them.
The food at this hotel was awful. Breakfast is basically eggs everyday. Lunch and tea tended to be rice and pasta with nothing to go with them. Also they like strange things such as mashed wheat. Every meal time except breakfast they serve chips. You need to get dessert early as once it's gone it's gone and they don't put more out. Mid-afternoon snacks are the best things, nothing special slices of pizza, more chips wraps etc.
Bits you might need to know you have to pay about £1.50 per day if you want to use your safe in your room which I would always recommend. You pay a deposit if you need a towel of 10 Lira.
Don't take too many books they have plenty to pick from in reception.
Make sure you look around Hisaronu and Olu Deniz if possible before booking any trips you can get them cheaper there.
The surrounding areas: Hisaronu is great for shopping and come night time cracking for a night out because you may get bored with the entertainment in the hotel depending on how long you're there for.
Prices for drinks are pretty much the same everwhere, £2.50 for a beer and £5 for a cocktail. There are plenty of places to eat and drink.
You walk down the hill from the hotel and little mini buses pass every ten minutes or so called Dolmuses and beep at you jump on one of them and they'll take you into Hisaronu for a couple of quid not even that. Or you can get reception to order you a taxi which could cost you up to about ten pounds sometimes even more.
Olu Deniz is also great during the day, you get there the same way as Hisaronu on a dolmus. Or each morning from the hotel there is a free shuttle bus that takes you down to a private beach called the Blue lagoon which is beautiful. 6 Lira for a sun-bed the bus picks you up at 4 and takes you back to the hotel. The beach is not far from the town so can get dropped off there and go eat or shop, you can eat at the beach but the food is not very good.
On a Tuesday Fethiye market is open and it is great, same as before you get there by dolmus they sell everything and anything and I suggest you try and haggle with them as you can end up getting some things for really cheap :-)
I wouldn't recommend buying anything from the shop in the hotel it is very very expensive, it was something like £4 for a newspaper, magazines such as OK that are a couple of quid in England worked out about £8/9. Sun-cream was about £22 for a normal bottle so I suggest you get all that before you get there as I know some people prefer to get that on holiday.
In the evenings it did get very chilly, I'm sure as it warms up during summer it might not be too bad but watching the evening entertainment was really really cold might be worth taking something to put over your shoulders maybe it's because the hotel is high into the mountains.
In general a nice, friendly relaxing hotel with lovely staff but disappointing food.
