Me and my girlfriend originally had been booked for Cala Dor/Majorca to leave on the 24th of May for a week, but the ashcloud prevented us from going and had to cancel holiday and rebook. We have never been to turkey before so wasnt sure of what to expect.
We booked very last minute with Thomas Cook girvan, Alison our travel agent was very helpfull and got it sorted for us. We booked up for a week in the greenland which is an All Inclusive only hotel and seeing it was a 4star and reading the reviews on here we couldnt believe the price we got it for so expectations were rising...
On arrival the very friendly receptionist took our details and passports (dont be alarmed when they take them, you get them back next day if you go ask) and then another member of staff helped with bags to our room.
The walk up the hill to room is hard on the old legs but is such a beautiful walk. Into our room and it was very nice. You would think it was a new hotel, not one mark on walls etc and bathroom was spotless.
Our room was situated at the top of the resort next to the upper pool / bar area which is quieter. If you prefer abit of fun during the day you can go down to the lower pool which has a flume and other activities are setup throughout the day like Waterpolo / water volleyball etc. Music from the lower bar area plays out all day aswell, a mixture of upbeat songs and some very relaxing music.
At the entertainment was abit chessy but great fun, the entertainment staff are all down to earth people and have a smile on there face always. Each night had different events setup, from 21:30 to 22:00 was usually something for the kids, then onwards was for the adults, Bingo / Karoke etc. If you prefer to go into town for the night then youll get a bus down the street into Hisaronu which is only 2 Lira each and takes 5 minutes to get there. When in, youll get alot of pubs and shops open. You will get alot of people asking you to come in there shop etc but if you say no thanks they leave you alone. Pubs are very good and the local beer called Efes is very nice. One bar called Tango Bar we went to, my girlfriend got 2 vodka and mixers and i got a pint of efes for 15 Lira, which is about £5/6 so is very cheap.
The hotel puts on alot of events outside of hotel aswell, to go to Oludeniz / St nicholas beach you put your name down the night before for the bus, and they take you there at 1030 and pick you up at 1630. But when you get there its 6 Lira each for a sunbed which they didnt tell us about, but was all worth it. Recommend going out on the pedalos, very relaxing out on the med :)
Food, the food was very good and very high quality, you can tell its not just any chef making the food, it is someone with a passion for food and it shows with the variety and the way it is placed out. I am a very fussy eater and i had no problems whatsoever finding something to eat, most of time going up for seconds hehe. The all inclusive drinks were great aswell, Perge beer was very tasty. Soft drinks was pepsi etc on draft and allover the resort was stalls setup with cold water , juice and hot drinks such as coffee/tea/hot chocolate.
I could go on and on about this hotel but i think after reading this youll clearly see its a superb hotel and the staff are great. Very hardworking people and always have a smile on face and cant do enough to help you, very comical aswell. Me and my girlfriend will be booking up again for either end of year or next summer and can see us coming back plenty more times...See you soon Greenland :)
