“a great time at the ramos”
Reviewed September 23, 2009

stayed for 2 weeks at the ramos and overall we had a good time. the location of the hotel is great with only a 5 min walk down the hill to the town and the bars and restaurants. the hotel itself looks great and the pool, bars and communal areas are all very clean. there is plenty of sunbeds round the pool with matresses and you dont have to get up too early to put towels down! all the staff speak great english and are very helpful. the prices of the food and drink are good and the food at the pool bar is fantastic with good choices and cooked in front of you.
the breakfasts are great with good choices and very fresh. this is served between 8am and 10am so you dont have to get up too early! and do remember to feed the hotel cat then as he comes looking for food and a cuddle first thing. he is a lovely little cat and no bother!
we travelled with thomson and they only have 15 rooms allocated to them. you tend to find that most people there travelled independently and had been many years before. i think this was a much cheaper way to do it.
now to the downside: some of the rooms are small and do not have tv. our room faced the pool and had 3 beds and free air con which was great but there is no fridge or any glasses or facilities to boil any kettle for tea. they want you to buy all your food and drink from them. we would sometimes wander out for a newspaper and an icecream and they didnt like you taking the icecream into the hotel grounds as they sold icecream at the pool bar. we also had to smuggle water into the room to drink at night. this was always warm as there was no fridge. i also had to complain about the room twice. i dont normally complain about anything in a hotel but i had spent a lot of money on this holiday and expected more. when we arrived there was large white flakes of plaster all over the bathroom. this was because there was a large damp patch on the ceiling of the bathroom where the upstairs shower must be leaking. this was a large patch about 1 metre square. everytime you cleaned it up more plaster fell down. we complained and they brushed the ceiling which stopped the flakes but they didnt even attempt to cover up the damp area. the second complaint happened when we got up in the middle of the night to discover the bathroom was ankle deep in water. this was because of water pouring down the wall from upstairs. it turns out that they couldnt get there tap to stop for 3 hours and this had flooded their bathroom and in turn ours got flooded. all the towels etc were ruined. the bathroom itself was very dated too and could seriously do with modernisation. i am also convinced in the 2 weeks we were there they did not change the sheets and the towels until we left them in the bottom of the shower so they had no choice but to change them.
i know all of that sounds bad but to be honest it was a good hotel that just needed some attention to detail. if they added a fridge and modernised the bathrooms it would be a top notch place to stay.
i was nearly crying when i left so i think i will be back!!!

The Ramos Hotel is a great place to stay, exceptionally clean with fantastic staff. I have stayed in many hotels in this area and this has proved to be the nicest so far. 90% of the staff speak better english than most of the holiday makers staying there and go out of their way to help. The rooms are modern and clean and the bathrooms are not converted closets like many hotels. It is situated on the main Olu Deniz/Fetiye road so a steady stream of dolmus and taxis are always passing, the market square is only 400 yards away so is easy walking distance for all ages. The town centre starts by the market square and goes on down for a further 800 yards. The only drawback of the Ramos Hotel is the bar by the main road has football on the big screen every night to draw in the punters, but then so does every nearly every bar in town, this means there is no where quiet to go and sit and have a drink in the evenings.
A great friendly bar to visit is the GAP bar run by Izzie who speaks great english and serves good cheap food at all times of the day and night. It resides at the bottom of town and everyone knows it should you need directions, you will always be made welcome there. Recommended eating places are Costello's, Pepino's, Dominoe's(not the pizza chain) and of course Dragonara( excellent chinese).Shanghai Blues follows a close second to Dragonara.
You must go to Olu Deniz and visit the HELP Bar on the sea front - a place to chill out and experience fantastic sunsets - not cheap by hisoranu standards but worth paying for the view and the experience.

I have been coming to this area Olu/Hisoranu/Ovacek for ten years now and know something of the area. You will love it!

Ramos is a lovely hotel - very friendly staff - lovely rooms - great pool and the best bar in town.

The staff really did create a great atmosphere - they are so much fun, and kept us laughing the whole time - especially Emrah who is brill!

We spent a week at the Ramos in September and what a great choice! The hotel is less than a 5 minute walk to all the shops and bars but far enough away from the clubs in the centre so its nice and peaceful. The hotel was spotless and the rooms ideal, with free air conditioning and comfy beds (unusual for a hotel!). With two bars, the pool, darts, sky TV and a pool table theres always something to do. The staff couldn't do enough for you and they all spoke good english so communication wasn't a problem. Jimmy and Emrah and all the boys were always so friendly and up for a laugh. The bar at the front was always lively at night but becasue the rooms are situated around the pool it wasn't too noisy if you wanted an early night. The dolmus drove past the hotel regularly so you don't have to walk anywhere if you were to get the bus to the beach or the next town. We also went on the ali ba ba jeep safari which was ace and definately recommended, you get picked up and dropped off right outside the hotel. Definately the best hotel ive stopped in abroad, and i have been to others in both Hisaronu and Marmaris. Definately back next year : ).

If you want a great holiday chose this hotel. The hotel in general is very clean and well presented. The staff are great, friendly and helpful-thanks boys for a great holiday. The rooms are cleaned on a daily basis. Towels for the pool are supplied. Always plenty of sunbeds. The hotel is in a good location for all the shops and the market (across the road on Mondays) Try the market in Fethiye on Tuesday but found the shops in Hisaronu much better value and willing to haggle on the price. The Chinese opposite the hotel very good value for money. Plenty of places to eat with a great choice. Went to Olu Deniz last year which we found very humid and very expensive. Hisaronu is not at all humid and food is half the price. We did two boat trips. The first was a day trip on the 'Popyee' and then a Sun Set cruise on the same boat. Roll on next August to our next visit to the Ramos.

Well we just got back 2 days ago after staying at the RAMOS HOTEL! And what a treat! The hotel is clean, friendly, brilliant location and has a nice relaxed atmosphere.
The staff were amazing and made our stay funny, hilarious and comfortable! I will name them and they will probabley hate it ha ha (Khoray, he is your all-rounder, Emrah, brilliant at making drinks and making you laugh, Jimmy fantastic cook and brilliant company, Sahin very polite and would do anything for you. For the rest of the staff again all amazing!!!!!
The hotel pictures we saw before we went did not do it justice at all. When we got there we didnt realise how we had the best location in Hisaronu. The hotel is walking distance to Hisraonu town, where there are plenty of bars, restaurants, cafes, pastry shops, shopping, nightlife ! You name it they have it!
If you came out of the hotel and just took a dolmus (2.50 lira) that would get you to Olu deniz, where the beach is lovely (shingle/pebble beach), Views are amazing!!! Lots of bars, shops, restaurants again! If you took a right and took a dolmus to Feithye, thats a nice marina town, where you would catch your boat trips, go to the famous fish market. We tried that. It was a first experience where you would buy your own fish, and the restaurants surrounding the fish market would cook it for a little price. Overall it cost about 50gbp for a meze started, to buy the fish and a bottle of rose! Which wasnt bad!
The hotel in the evenings has a bar up front where you enter and it has a nice chilled out relaxed atmosphere. Alot of people, not even guests do come for a nice pre-dinner or after dinner drink! They have wicker furniture and bean bags scattered to make it feel relaxed. During the day the pool area is nice and quiet, and the hotel has an amazing backdrop of the mountains.. The rooms are big and are comfortable and clean, maid service once a day. You get beach towels and bath towels too! The bathrooms are on the small side, but while we were there they just fitted new shower heads which were so much better! Try and get a room to overlook the pool area! Thats where we were and they were lovely!
Prices in the hotel were very affordable! Before i left nobody really mentioned prices of food, drink , travel or shopping at all. So here is a rough guide on costs over there
Dolmus travel to Olu Deniz or Feithey 2.50 lira per person
Food varies from restaurant to restaurant in hisaronu, but on average for 2 of us with alcholic drinks we were paying 73.00 lira ( 2.45 lira to the 1.00 gbp) Thats for a starter, main and 2 alcholic drinks each.
Shopping, well my only advice would be to haggle. Alot of the shops were selling the same kind of merchandise. Alot of the shops had buy 3 t-shirts for 10.00 gbp. You can buy alot of fakes brands, Gucci, Boss, Louis Vuitton etc on most items, such as T-shirts, Sun glasses, bags, wallets, belts, caps, hoodies, watches, purses, you name it they had it (all fakes). Some fakes were good and some were horrible!
Drinks varied in bars and restaurants. We kept drinking vodka (local brand) and orange juice, or lemonade and that worked in around 10 lira , about 4 gbp. Their local beer EFES was about 1.20 gbp.
I would advise to take sterling cash out there, as we were paying everywhere using pounds. Everybody accepts it in restaurants, bars, shopping etc. The change you get back will be in Lira though!
The excursions we did was not through Thomson, but through a company alot of guests at the hotel used. They are called Carole and Tafun. Half owned by british as we were told! They were brilliant. We booked the 12 island cruise(recommended), Gocek cruise and quad biking for 40gbp per person. They threw in Gocek free. ! We didnt do the land cruise, but apparently its brilliant, so defo recommended. We did do the Quad biking and that was a right treat! You can choose when you would like to do it. If you do go in July , choose the morning one, because by the time it hits 11-12.00 midday its HOT HOT HOT 45 -48 DEGREES !!!! We did the quad biking through the Ghost town, down to the private lagoon beach, through the mountains and some villages, it was brilliant!

Overall i would definatley go back there. We were so sad to leave and the staff at Ramos and they are now friends of ours, we will keep in touch! Whatever you guys are doing at Ramos keep it up, its working!!!!
If your looking for somewhere central, nice small, friendly and good location, but not too loud, and has easy access to the town, beach and marina! RAMOS IS THE ONE!!!!
