Just got back from the Mavruka. Apprehensive because of previous reviews but booked anyway as the hotel looked fabulous and smaller than others . Spotlessly clean, new, staff were excellent, really friendly even if some did not speak much english - they loved to learn. Reviews completely unfounded. Even Remi who has a very wicked dry sense of humour and is not really miserable at all just knackered. They do work incredibily long hours for little money; how they manage to smile at all is amazing. Ali on reception could not do enough for you and Sonny a star at the outside bar and would stay up past his bedtime if you fancied a late one!! It was nice to have an outdoor bar that did not smell of food, especially if you had just eaten. I was amazed at the friendliness of the turkish people and the staff were so good with little children they adopted them as second dads. I liked the fact the hotel was just off the main drag away from all the action so was quiet and did not have active party nights every night. The noise from some nearby hotels was deafening when you walked past them. We booked half board and were intending to eat out occasionally but were sold on the home-made soup starters, amazing, and only ate out once . Breakfasts were nearly the same every day but adequate.
Our only meal out at Toscana was excellent. We both had house steaks and wine, coffee and brandies approx £38. Tables were very close together so you had to be friends with your neighbours who luckily were nice on both sides! Friends also recommended the Sea Horse with friendly Charlie. Have not seen this restaurant mentioned anywhere. We ate lunch at the Kumsal restaurant on the beach every day, also not mentioned. Its on the back road to the beach thru' the restaurant, turn right past the back entrance to the Belcekiz, next to the bowling alley. Excellent food and staff and if we didn't like anything we didn't have to pay (policy found alot in Turkey unlike england). Their prices are half the others in the area as they own the land and do not pay rent. We do not like hotel pools so rented sunbeds daily at 6lira per bed plus 6lira per umbrella and we left everything and just popped off to lunch there and of course use their loo!!
Having spent hols in Portugal for the last 34 yrs I can thoroughly recommend this hotel and Turkey. Bought 3 fake watches and 2 pairs of gucci sunglasses from Star watches opposite road out of the hotel but he mended my husband's english watch for free and put a battery in my english watch for free later on in our stay. Unbelievable! My husband joked he hoped the watches still worked on our return home and he said if not contact his brother called Ahmed who works at Asda in Bath!
Only negatives were the sandpaper sheets, thick cotton but you got used to them in the end, and the pebbly beach. Do yourselves a favour and buy some cheap beach shoes on day 1! I managed to use flip flops but momentarily lost them in the sea once or twice. The water is so clear and refreshing you have got to go in.
I only hope that after this review they don't put the prices up. In Turkey you seem to get a choice from speaking to other tourists, either small cheap rooms and good food or classy spacious rooms and adequate food and I know which I would rather choose.

After reading some of the awful reviews on here regarding staff attitudes I felt I had to clarify some things.
At no time whatsoever did I or any member of our party experience ignorance or rudeness from the staff. They were always friendly and happy to help whenever you needed anything doing. I wonder sometimes what the attitudes of these guests are to staff. My moto is treat others how you would want to be treated yourself. Give someone a smile and they always smile back. Sonny always went out of his way to ensure you were having a good time and the staff could not have made more of a fuss of the babies. The bar manager that some people seem to have an issue with was quiet and on the whole kept himself to himself but if you acknowledged him he would always respond appropriately. These people work very long hours for very little money and in my opinion were exceptional. If you are a family with young children this hotel is perfect for you.

Our party of 4 were age between 69 and 5 years old and it suited all of us perfectly. The hotel was clean, both room and communal areas. The pool was gorgeous, the poolside bar served delicious snacks. We stayed B&B and although the breakfast was typically Turkish it was fine for all of us.The hotel is situated in a quiet street but literally a minute walk from the Main Drag, the street which is full of bars, shops etc.The "no food or drink"policy didnt really concern us as we were discrete about what we smuggled in from Azda!!The beach was a few minute walk away, even shorter if you go through the back gate behind the pool area. The Blue Lagoon just a short walk away but we went to Billys Beach and it was superb.
The staff didnt go over the top to be pleasant but the maid was very friendly and excellent at her job.
We would not hesitate to return to this hotel.

Just returned from a two week stay at the Mavruka Hotel. Unless you are miserable people or the sort that can never be pleased you will find it exceptionally hard to fault this hotel and staff. We are both in our VERY early 40s and still enjoy a good time!! The hotel is extremely clean, rooms cleaned and fresh towels daily. The hotel staff we could not fault, always a smile and a laugh with them and they could not of been kinder. They work very long hours and if you make a little effort with them they will with you. We found the staff were also brilliant with children and always playful. Also the reception staff were great, we walked in with two bags from "Azda" and they never bothered us or searched us once. Again, if you are friendly with them they are fine with you.
I wont go on about how good the resort is but everyone is right its great with so much to do and see. Eating out you are spoilt for choice steaks are to die for, must of had 7.!!!
Please note, our standards are pretty high and we were a little concerned about some of the reviews when booking, however you will have a difficult job to better this hotel.
You will have a fab time here!!!

have just returned from our 4th stay at the mavruka but this time went with other family members including my 15 month old twin grandsons. As a couple we stayed in May and did witness a bottle of water being confiscated by a new employee who generally appeared to work in reception but on this day was asking people around the pool if they would like to attend the turkish night, he is no longer working there. reading reviews befor we went I began t think it had turned into fawlty towers.
However, we had no problems, the staff were wonderfull with the babies, and with other young children there. we saw people bringinging food and drink into the hotel with no problem.
Remi was fine Sonny was wonderfull, would not say that the hotel was suitable for older children or teenagers but for young families an couples it's good.

We booked the Mavruka after reading mainly positive reviews and I have to say we were very pleased we did so. A fantastic hotel - we couldn't complain about any aspect of the accomodation and would recommend this hotel to friends.

The hotel is located close to the beach with the main pedestrianised road through Oludeniz with numerous bars, shops and restaurants, about a 30 second walk from the hotel entrance. This ensures that the hotel is just about far enough away from the centre not to be disturbed by noise at night, but close enough that nothing in the resort is too far away.

I knew when booking The Mavruka that it was one of the newest hotels in the resort, which I hoped would ensure it was comfortable and modern. I was pleased to find it was. The rooms were a decent size for two and were spotless with fresh towels each day and new sheets every other day. Often petals spread over the bed/towels by the maids who did a fantastic job. The rooms had everything you need on holiday - air conditioning (free), fridge (free), tv (with a couple of English channels), plenty of storage space for clothes and a safety deposit box for hire at a pound a day. There was a hairdryer in the bathroom and an enclosed power shower meaning no water on the floor!!

The pool was a good size with plenty of sunbeds although you had to be quick on some days to get one as these did tend to go quite early. The atmosphere round the pool tended to be relaxed so if your the sort who likes a lively pool scene with pool games, staff throwing you in the pool etc this probably isn't the hotel for you.

There are two bars at the hotel - the pool bar/restaurant that is open from early morning til early evening - this is where the breakfast is served - and the Terrace bar at the front of the property that opens from about 6pm til late. Sonny working the terrace bar does a good job and is a friendly host. The staff at the pool bar/restaurant are not as outgoing but we certainly didn't find them miserable or rude as other reviewers have stated.

As we were only B&B we didn't eat in the hotel at night but the breakfasts - served from 8 til 10 - were reasonable with a variety of options - fruit juice, tea and coffee, cereals, fruit (usually watermelon), cold meats, eggs, cheese, olives, toast with jam, marmalade etc - although admittedly the same choice every day.

As other reviewers have stated the hotel does not allow food and drink from outside the property to be brought in but just use a bit of common sense and you'll be okay. We never had a problem during our stay and took drinks and crisps into the hotel for our rooms on a daily basis. Buy the occasional bottle of water from the bar then buy the next 4 or 5 from Azda. Simple.

As for Oludeniz itself, its a fantastic resort with lots to do both day and night. There are many options if you fancy the beach - the main beach, the lagoon, various private beaches that offer a free minibus service (Seahorse Beach, Sugar Beach etc) all with a good choice of watersports. There lots of actviites like paragliding (if theres one thing you do whilst there its got to be this - I'd recommend Skysports), jeep safaris (another must do) microlights, rafting, etc. Theres numerous day trips to places like Saklikent Gorge, Dalaman, Rhodes and many places easily accesible by Dolmus like Fethiye, Kayakoy (ghost town) and Hisaronu. At night theres lots of good quality restaurants to choose from, a bowling alley and many bars with high recommendations for Buzz and Help on the beach front and Tequilla on the main strip. Oh and don't forget to spend an evening chilling with an ice cold beer, cocktail or waterpipe, on a beanbag on the beach. Very relaxing!

My friend and I have just returned from a week at the Mavruka Hotel in Olu Deniz. We were a little worried about our stay after reading some of the reviews on Trip advisor.
On the day we arrived, we were not due to check in until 2pm however by 11am we had been given the keys to our room.
Our room was much nicer than what we were expecting. A great shower, english movie channels, great view from the balcony and clean towels everyday. We always saw the cleaners and they did a great top. The rooms were spotless and you can tell that the hotel is only a few years old.
The breakfast was fine, like most other turkish hotels (unless you are staying in a luxurious 5 star resort).
The bar staff were friendly. Within 24 hours of arriving we were speaking to them (although some only spoke a little english) they all tried though and we never had a problem with any of them. Sonny was great.
The location was perfect. Only 30 metres from the beach and the restaurants and bars and no noise during the evening.
I can not fault this hotel at all. I have travelled alot and stayed in some beautiful resorts around the world, and you can not compare hotels for example from those in Asia with Turkey. It is completely different. However, for European standards I thought the hotel was great.
The no food and drink policy applies in most hotels that we walked past in Olu Deniz. It really did not bother us. We had sweets in our room and this was never a problem. Plus the drinks were not expensive in the hotels compared to all the other restaurants.
We would definitely return to Mavruka Hotel again.
