Had a 2 week holiday in Oludeniz with 2 teenagers and my wife. The Mavruka is located only a short walk from either the beach or the local shops/bars. The rooms were spacious, clean with plenty of storage space (not the case in other hotels in Turkey in our recent experience). A concern about noise because the children's room was too close to the bar proved unfounded because the double glazing was effective soundproofing.
We were half board which I wouldn't recommend only because there are plenty of places to eat out at a reasonable price. The food in the hotel was good and I saw no reason to be concerned about the hygiene. Breakfast was basic but plentiful. Lunch was bar snacks (but we found better and cheaper close to the hotel). Dinner was plentiful and there was variety throughout the fortnight but it was a little bland.
Drinks were no more expensive than outside of the hotel - though you do have to watch it because they run a bar tab system and it soon mounts up (especially with teenagers!). However, I kept a close check on what we were charged (settling up every few days) and found the billing to be error free.
The staff were in the main friendly (although I can understand why people thought Remi (Bar Manager) was miserable - he was ok with us). I do think that the management could do some work on "customer relations" - the hotel manager was ignorant and miserable and appeared to rule by fear which had an impact on how the staff were with customers.
I did suffer from an ear infection which I also suspect was from the pool - although this is somewhat at variance from the cleanliness of the rest of the hotel (The excellent English-speaking chemist at the bottom of the road cleared it up without having to resort to the (expensive) doctor).
Having trawled the internet before booking and looked at a few hotels when in the resort I reckon that this hotel also offered great (if not unbeatable) value for money in this location.
As far as the resort is concerned, we've been to Marmaris, Bodrum and Gumbet and Olu Deniz is far and away the best - prettier, better (although pebbly) beach, quieter, and cheaper (than Marmaris last year).
Although we don't generally return to the same place we will return to Oludeniz and possibly to the Mavruka.
