“a good hotel”

a good hotel, staff all, friendly, and very welcoming, hotel in a nice position, the room we were given was very nice, with a/c, and a couch, so plenty of room, shower was good, in fact the only thing I can complain about is the t bone steak I got, so hard it was not edible, so steer clear, it was like so hard, ,if you want a great steak go to captain hooks, anyway we enjoyed and will go back,

We returned a couple of weeks ago from The Karbel Sun Hotel, it was our 6th visit. It is a lovely friendly hotel and the staff are all great, from Ali (the manager) right down to the cleaning staff, our room was always spotless. The pool is a good size and there is always plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas. The breakfast is adequate, it's the same as most Turkish hotels, but the bread is always very fresh and tasty.

Contrary to previous reviews we have always found Mehmet very pleasant and not at all pushy, remember he has a job to do. We will be back again as soon as we can.

We have just returned and found the karbel sun fab! We had room 211, very clean, normal Turkish breakfast, super gardens. The staff were wonderful..esp Taco on the bar..great place to stay! The staff were all lovely and friendly. We are already looking to book to go again. Food was good but you do have huge selection of places to choose from. A Chinese just along from karbel sun was superb quality and value. Only bad point for us was the BBQ night, not worth the money and food was cold! Apart from that it was fantastic..your made to feel welcome and looked after.

My partner and I have just returned from a weeks holiday at the Karbel Sun Hotel. 16th to the 24th Sept. We were given a basement room at first which was clean and tidy just a little dark, so I asked to be moved. The female receptionist was fabulous she had us moved to a 2nd floor room with views of the pool straight away, they even moved our belongings while we had a drink. So staff are brilliant, rooms are very clean and tidy although basic. We were bed and breakfast which was a turkish breakfast but good. Hotel in a great location for shops and bars and the beach etc. Pool small but kept clean. All in all for the price we paid it was great value, we would certainly revisit.

Room Tip: our room was 114 pool view second floor

We came to the Karbel sun from 2nd August for 2 wks. Our room which we were given was what they call a "Basement room". We didn't think much to it but decided to just put our bags in the room and go out for a meal. The next morning we asked if we could be moved and they could not have been more helpful, the receptionist pointed 2 rooms out and asked me to choose which one i preferred, and moved us straight away. We went out for a meal every evening and never had a bad one. The rooms are very basic but clean. Lovely friendly staff.

Not long got back from a 2 week holiday at the Karbel sun...we enjoyed it :)

Nice hotel in a good location at the top of the main strip where you will find plenty of shops, bars and restaurants etc.
The staff were nice and reception was helpful.
Our room was very basic but it was clean with a good shower...quite powerful. The hairdryer well what can I say-shall we call it challenge hairdryer lol-It worked ...for about 30 seconds at a time before it would cut out. Ladies out there with big hair...take your own! We told reception and they said it was a safety cut out-whatever! I managed though lol! A bit sparse on the old furniture-We were in room 103 on the ground floor. The room had a wardrobe(with banging doors),a small dressing table and mirror and 1 bedside cabinet.
When we arrived at 6am after a delayed flight we found the room to be a twin and not the double that I had asked for. We were so tired I just pushed the beds togeather, after some sleep we went to reception to ask about the room. They did offer us a double but I figured 2 singles pushed togeather is bigger than a double so we stayed put.
I did ask reception for another bed side table but never got one. There just wasn't enough storage for all our bits. My partner ended up using one of the plastic chairs from our very small terrace.
The rooms were cleaned daily(bins emptied etc). Towels and sheets changed every other day by a lovely young women.
We didn't hear much noise from the bar at night but did have to suffer the noise of the guests coming back at night that were staying above us(you can more or less hear EVERYTHING from the rooms around you).
I would strongly suggest that the hotel invest in some new guest towels and sheets. The towels were so stiff we ended up going out to buy ourselves one each to avoid any friction burns lol and the bedding, the bottom sheets were fine but in stead of a normal top sheet we had a thicker kind of sheet/cover. Again very rough on the skin. The beds were comfy. There was free air con in the room though. We didn't bother with a fridge or use of the safe which there is an extra charge for.
Nice pool area although the photo in the book makes it look a lot bigger than it actually is. It was the case of get your towels out early if you want a good spot as we found out on our first day. We went down at around 11am after a few hrs sleep to find no beds free(not that people were actually using them) We were grateful when another guest came to tell us that 2 had become free.
There is a payment card that you are given when you check in. This is to pay for anything from the hotel-food,drinks etc. We didn't have a problem with this. It's just a case of keeping tabs on what you are spending and paying it off every couple of days.
Breakfast was VERY basic...cornflakes,toast,jam,hard boiled eggs, some kind of ham, olives, feta etc-you get my drift. Any extras you have to pay for or just go down the road where you will find many places offering a cooked breakfast.
Food and drinks are slightly more expensive that what you will find outside. Pool bar meals were ok and food in the restaurant was quite good with quite a large menu(we only tried it once)
The hotel has a policy of no food and drink to be brought in from outside although from what I saw a lot were doing it anyway.
We did go to Bbq night at the hotel which we really enjoyed.

Olu deniz itself is a lovely place to visit. You can book trips either through your rep(ours was Emily) or off the street.
We did-
Dalyan mud baths- carpet factory mud baths, lunch and some time at turtle beach.
12 island boat trip-I have done many boat trips over the years and I have to say this was the most relaxing one ever. Plenty of room on the boat....just a complete chill out day :)
Fetithe by night-gold shop,a couple of free hrs to explore the bazzar, turkish delight factory-well worth the fiver we paid!

We also had a Turkish bath which is a must!
Oh and have yourself a pedicure, only 30TL(£10)-quite random but a nice treat.

We got a good exchange rate on travellers cheques with Gladys and Ali(the first handbag shop at the top of the strip)
Lovely people too. Gladys is from north wales so a chat in welsh is always welcome.

Restaurants-
Antique res and bar was our favourite-Lovely food and good service
Phillips café and bar- nice food...nice prices too.
Toscanna-good Italian
cherry chow-great cocktail bar and so friendly
I could go on and on,the fact is that we didn't have a bad meal!

All in all we had a good relaxing holiday and even with the hotel being a bit Faulty towers we kinda liked it anyway and would stay here again...

Now to plan our next trip xx
