I had high expectations of this hotel after reading reviews however upon arrival late last Sunday with my 19mth old & husband I was informed they had NO hot water after 8pm until 6am everyday, NO laundry service, NO currency exchange, NO iron/kettle and the list goes on. We found it incredibly different with my lil one at this hotel and considering they knew we were coming didnt even bother to provide a cot.
The hotel is not child friendly and I would not recommend anyone to go there.

We stayed from the 2nd to the 9th October and really enjoyed our stay. I went with my Dad and my sister but feel that this hotel would better suit groups of friends or even couples who want to have fun and meet other people.

Some of the points made in more negative reviews are true. The restaurant is a little tired looking and unfortunately the staff arn't quick at clearing the tables and never change the table cloths during a seating so you have to put up with crumbs from other people (I always just turned the cloth over before starting). Top tip: arrive at 7pm for dinner (this is when dinner starts) to get to the tables first. Lunch and dinner are samey and if you don't eat salad you will probably not enjoy the food.

Having said that I loved the food. I'm a vegetarian and I always found lots to eat. They have around 20 different salads every dinner time with roasted vegetables, beans, cous cous and then different salad veggies like carrots, cabbage, tomatoes, different dressing like yoghurt, tzatziki, houmous etc. Fresh bread made in the stove on site every day and different options for meat eaters such as lamb stew, chicken escalope, grilled fresh fish, turkey steak etc. Breakfast was functional but fine for me- they had all of the usual cooked breakfast items, eggs, beans, toast, tomatoes etc. plus mediteranian breakfast including salads and yoghurt. They had cereal, and fresh bread items too. There was also an omlette station which seemed popular.

Our room was always spotless, lovely clean sheets and towels every day, and although the room was basic it was completely functional and spacious for two people. We had everything we needed. Lots of toilet roll and a fridge for our water. We were in room 223, on the noisier side of the hotel next to the main bar. The music was very loud until midnight but we appreciate that people are on holiday and are happy to stay up until this time when the music was switched off.

The hotel is close to the mosque so you will hear the call to prayer early in the morning if you are a light sleeper but this was no problem for us. The grounds are lovely with lots of plants and very well maintained. Be carefull of water on the floor, the cleaners don't tend to mop it up after they have cleaned and I saw a few people slip and fall.

We didn't really use the pools as we went to the beach every day, but they looked clean and pleasant to us and the bar was pretty well stocked. The local wine was nice and the local lager is delicious! Soft drinks and coffee is also included. Coffee was really really good surprisingly.

The hotel is well located. It is at the end of the strip so about a 10 minute walk past all of the shops to the beach. On the way you will notice that there is a supermarket called Azda. This is a great place to stock up for the beach. We went here every day to buy water, drinks and fruit. You can even buy sndwiches here if you don't want to go back to the hotel during the day. Sun beds on the beach about £2 per bed for the day and an umbrella is an additional £2.

The blue lagoon is around a 20-30 minute walk away but it's a lovely walk and doesn't feel too far. You can take a minibus to Fethiye- the nearest town- in about 40 minutes which is a nice day away from the resort to visit some different shops and more Turkish restaurants.

All in all we had a great stay. Yes there is room for improvement- simply changing the table cloths after every seating would improve things dramatically- but the staff were on the whole friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean and comfy, and the food was yummy. For less than £100 per person for a week I'm not sure what others were expecting. If you are looking for luxury don't stay here. Spend at least £500 per person to have a very different kind of experience. If you want clean, simple accommodation, good food options and pleasant drinks on a shoestring budget this is the place for you.

Room Tip: If you can ask for a room around the other pool away from the main bar. Unfortunately we were not ab...

We stayed in the above mentioned hotel from 16/09/12 until the 26/09/12 in Room 121.

The room was clean and kept tidy by the Maids who were very pleasant and hard working. Unfortunately, in our room the shower door was falling off, the shower itself fell off the wall which we reported. The Receptionist didn’t speak much English therefore; the shower was never fixed after reporting it. Where the room was situated, the noise/music was deafening and kept us up until gone 3am every night! Then the music was put back on blaring once again at 8am at the bar.

At the main bar, there were never any glasses for drinks and not enough chairs to sit on. The Bar Staff once again were very friendly. Whilst at the Bar near where the hens & chickens are situated, they never had water or hot drinks – only beer. The lighting was very poor in the evenings, especially around the main bar.

The pool area was very dirty, always muddy and there weren’t enough sun beds (at both bars) and we never saw the pool being sanitised or cleaned.

As for the Restaurant, the table cloths were filthy, Staff was slow at clearing tables, and food was never wiped from the previous diners and food/crumbs still left on the tables which we had to clear ourselves. The floor was absolutely filthy and looked like it hadn’t been washed for months. We always had to wait for plates and cutlery. The was no lighting were the food was on the first week, then when lighting was put in a Gentleman got a shock from where the soup was situated. No description of what the dish was in each food container, food was always cold, the glasses which were far and few between were absolutely filthy, if these ran out we had to use plastic beakers which were all stained and dirty. If glasses or beakers weren’t available we were given paper cups!!! No wine was ever available in the Restaurant to go with our meals, only juice (which was horrible) and water. Where the drinks were, people had to keep asking the Staff to clear up spills from the drinks machine on the floor in case of an accident.
The Staff in the Restaurant were very miserable.

The cleanliness, standard, food & drink at this hotel have really let us down and ruined what could have been a great holiday. We will not be returning to this Hotel.

We stayed at the Dorian from mid Sept and after reading all the negative reviews was dreading it! But I have to say it's nowhere near as bad as some make it out to be. We never intended to eat there every night as we like eating out but because of good reviews when we booked and the price we decided to stay here. Food was plentiful. Some good/some bad. All inclusive drinks weren't the best but again we like to go out. Hotel room was very clean which was my main worry. All in all we loved our time here. Done lots of trips - jeep safari was wicked! Would make a good Bed and Breakfast.

Made a spontaneous last minute booking at the Dorian hotel for late September without looking at the Trip Advisor review site! After looking at the most recent reviews, we decided we had booked into the 'Pits' and fully expected to arrive into the set of the "Inbetweeners' movie and see Basil Fawlty pulling the dead dog out of the well! We left prepared for the holiday from hell with a suitcase full of immodium, earplugs, antibacterial wipes and pot noodles!!

Anyway have just got back and can say that whilst the bad reviews are true, but there are also some good qualities as well. So here is the good and the bad.

THE GOOD POINTS

THE LOCATION - Fantastic. Near the strip of shops, cafes and bars. Also 10 minutes from the beach and 20 minutes from the lagoon.

THE GROUNDS - Pretty hibiscus flowers, giant rubber plants and lots of fruit trees.

THE SWIMMING POOLS - Clean and quite peaceful during the day.

SOME OF THE ROOMS - We changed 3 times, but it was 3rd room lucky. We had a lovely view over the quiet pool and the sea and it was kept clean by a lovely cleaning lady.

THE OTHER GUESTS - Everyone we spoke to at the hotel seemed lovely. We didn't notice the 'drunken brits abroad' thing that we have seen in other resorts. We don't drink, so we only walked through the bars in the evening, but everyone seemed well behaved.

AND THE BAD POINTS

THE RESTAURANT - Looked tired and dirty. The tablecloths especially needed a good wash and were always full of crumbs.

FLYS AND WASPS - Over the cold salads, meats and cheeses. Puts you off having any of it.

LACK OF TOWELS - We didn't have any for 2 days and bought an extra beach towel to use instead.

COLD SHOWERS - No hot water on 3 nights, so a very invigorating freezing shower!

THE DOGS - Seemed good natured enough, but when they're howling and barking outside your room at night, not good!

THE BIRDS - I mean 'WHY'??? The smell of them at the pool bar was stomach turning and the constant quacking, gobbling, cock-a-doodle-dooing at night. We had to laugh or we would have cried!!!

Anyway to sum up, we did have a nice holiday. Olu Deniz is lovely and the weather was gorgeous. We are brown and a few pounds heavier and we didn't need the immodium!! Could have done with a bit more sleep. Wouldn't go to the Dorian again, will self cater next time!!

My stay at the Dorian was a pleasant one...the room was clean and spacious, it was cleaned every day and we received clean towels. This is a big factor for me when staying at a place like this. The food, i thought was nice...lots of fresh bread on offer, different food from different cultures (if you want chips everyday and nothing else you probably could, like the whingeing English i encountered who i think fail to notice there is other nationalities staying at the hotel who probably appreciate the different dishes that we didn't recognise).

I agree with other reviews that the cold meats and cheeses could do with a cover over them to stop the wasps congregating around them but this was a small gripe.

The waiters are friendly enough, some more then others but are very efficient and keep the tables tidy and clear. I believe they work very long hours both in the restaurant and behind the bar as I always saw the same staff there no matter what time day or night...and to be fair to them, i would find it hard to be continuously full of smiles and be upbeat around so many drunk English people.

I never spent all my time at the hotel like the majority of the all inclusive crew seemed to do and then whinge they are bored with the food and entertainment and drinks etc...these same people I see at breakfast with the same boring tales of how drunk they were the night before while chugging down a big glass of wine with their breakfast. These I think are the same people who like to write the negative reviews, all saying this is the worst hotel they have stayed at and they have stayed at 2 stars which are better. Well I don't think there is a huge jump in class between two and three star in turkey...and if you are expecting luxury along with all inclusive drinks and food they have had quite a shock. Need to get out a bit more instead of spending day in and day out by the pool or boring the poor staff with your slurred stories.

The trips outside the hotel made the trip for me and meeting new people and seeing amazing things. The hotel just made my stay comfortable and enjoyable as expected.

As you could probably tell, i don't think it was the staff or the food etc that was the problem at the hotel - it was the hardcore, all inclusive alcoholics who refuse to venture to the beach, or on a trip - who drink wine and lager with their breakfast, who demand their vodka and cokes being 80% full of vodka...this was the thing that got me down about the hotel, having to be surrounded by their negativity.

I knew before I went it wasn't going to be luxury, but for what we paid i was amazed. As i said, clean rooms, nice pool areas, friendly staff, nice food (plenty of it), and great location near the shops and beach.

I think i will stick to self catering in the future just because of the negative attitude of the clientele at these places...for £500 a fortnight they expect the world.
