“Really Nice Hotel but some rooms very gloomy”
Reviewed June 29, 2009

My husband and I stayed at this hotel from 6th June 2009 for two weeks, when we arrived we were given a really gloomy room in the basement with a very very small window no balcony and although we were moved after the 1st day it did put a damper on the start of the holiday. You really need to check the room when you book this hotel as they have some shed like chalets which have no natural lights and no balcony, they would get very very hot in the summer. One other grip was we were always being pressured to use the Hotel Buffet Meal plan in the evenings although we only booked B&B we were constantly pestered by the hotel staff. On the positive side the staff were very very friendly and accommodating especially the housekeeper we had she was lovely although she did not speak any English accept good morning she was always smiling. The hotel and pool area we really clean and welcoming and I would recommend this hotel to families and couples alike. The hotel photographer was good but did again pester a little bit to much. The breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice and the evening meals we did take were very good. Instead of using cash on arrival you are give a charge card which is an excellent idea as it saves carrying cash. The resort of Oludeniz is nice with a main strip of bars restaurants and shops but go off the beaten track - the beach is stony but the water is very clear and clean, you can pick up a daily boat trip for about £8.00 directly from the beach each morning around 10.30am which includes lunch - Easy Rider is a good one as they have a Captain Jack Sparrow (look a like) on board which is great fun.
All in all its a good place to visit and their are several other towns nearby which you can get to easliy on the Dolmush bus for a very small fee so do get out and about.... One other thing the Guys have a Turkish Shave and the ladies a pedicure they are really good value a shave arounf £4.00 and the pedicure £10.00 with toes painted for the that to.

We have just returned from an 11 night stay at the Hotel Karbel Olu Deniz and I can honestly say that we cannot fault the hotel in any way from the location right through to the staff, it is brilliant and we wouldn't hesitate to stay there again in the future. Olu Deniz is a really lovely resort and is close to everything you could want, the nearest beach at the bottom of the strip is a bit stoney but we used "Billy's Beach" most of the time which is nice and sandy, if you ring them in the morning they will come and pick you up and take you back to your hotel later on at no cost, we did walk it one day which took about 20 minutes. I would recommend Olu Deniz and The Hotel Karbel to anyone.

Stayed at the Karbel for the first two weeks in June. Before we booked I read various reviews about the hotel, and about 98% of the reviews were all good so decided to go for it, booked with Travel Republic , what a bargain, £870 for two of us staying half board, and that price included airport parking for two weeks , insurance and transfers !
We arrived early hours in the morning - around 3am and were shown to our room. my heart sank a little as we were taken down stairs towards the dreaded basement rooms. However was pleasantly surprised as we were lucky enough to have a balcony which looked out over beautiful gardens. the room was also pleasantly cool , didnt need the aircon until the second week , and even then only had it on for an hour or two
Hotel was absolutely spotless, cleaners started at around 6.30am and were still going at 7 pm, they made heart shapes out our towels and left flowers on the bed , a really nice touch and were all polite and made an effort to speak to you . Breakfast was a little limited on choice, bread , eggs , traditional Turkish breakfast of meats, cheeses etc, cereals, Could have done with some fresh fruit also , however , I still managed to fill myself up on the freshly baked bread and jam. Barstaff really friendly and they made an effort to remember your names, as were the restaurant staff, the restaurant manager greeted us every evening andmade an effort to chat with you. Evening meals were great, plenty of salads if you didnt fancy the main courses, soup, breads , vegetable dishes. The moussaka , and the Sunday roast were brilliant . Just a word of advice, when you get your card that you put all your drinks, snacks on etc, make sure you pay as often as you can, prevents nasty shocks when you go to pay after 5 days ! drinks arent particularly cheap, I found that applied to the resort, not just the hotel. If you want a cheaper night out, get on the dolmus to Hisaronu, only takes 5 mins and costs 5 lira for two of you, they run back to Ou Deniz until 1am so its woth going for a night out there. The resort of Olu Deniz is lovely, yes, the restaurant/ shop owners shout to try and get you in, as long as you are polite when saying no, they leave you alone. We actually made some really good friends with some of them and they are lovely people . Beach lovely, and never too busy, yes, its pebbly, but you can buy beach shoes with rubber bottoms so you can go in the sea, they cost about £6.00 and definitely worth investing in. There are some lovely bars along the beachfront, Buzz, Help to name but a few, You can also sit on beanbags on the beach at night and just chill with a drink listening to the sound of the sea . Lots to do, if your brave, by all means try paragliding , boat trips are good also, although the sea sometimes is extremely choppy ! For those people that say its too commercialised and full of chavs, is a little harsh, I have been to Marnaris and thought that was the pits when it came to tackyness.. A great holiday and am looking forward to going again next year at the Karbel . If they had an all inclusive option I would definitely take that one ! Big thumbs up

The hotel was very good especially as it is classified as 3stars.The bedrooms and public areas always clean. The reception staff very helpful and smiling even under pressure. Stayed on a bed and breakfast basis only. Good location. A few minutes walk to the beach and restaurants. Would I go back? Yes.

Although we had a great time at The Karbel it didn't come without its irks Firstly after a very long transfer we finally got to the Karbel at 9pm only to be shown a dungeon room Im under the impression they palm off these rooms to late comers Wished we had have complained but couldnt be bothered at that point The hotel is in great surroundings with lovely well tended gardens and two large pools The only blot on the landscape was witnessing the fat oiled up Brits lounging by the pool just before we went to the main part of the hotel for breakfast The food was excellent and the staff were friendly and helpful Our maid was a sweetheart and left flowers on the bed Its the first time we had been to Turkey and we would like to return but to somewhere less anglicized but otherwise a damn site better than being in Sheffield where apparently, heavy rain had caused flooding

Just returned from the Karbel Hotel after 2 weeks of a Excellent holiday with First Choice.
The Staff are very helpful never to much trouble for them always will stop and have a few words.
Those working at the bar ie Eric ,Hayley and Touchan were very helpful and pleasant. The shows in the evening were very good the Male Belly dancer was fantastic along with the folk Dancers.
We were Half Board and could not fault the choice of food ,OK the breakfast was basic with Scrambled Egg on one day and Omelette on another. Bolied eggs seemed to be the order of the day on the rest of the days along with Chips, also cold meats the Bread was very nice.
The Dolmus bus service is Excellent turn left outside the hotel, they run about every 5 mins just put your hand up they will stop. It's 3.4 lira to Fethiye, where you can get plenty of boat trips to 12 Islands for about 20 lira which includes a meal, a good day out. I would recommend the GRAND BARIS boat with Hamish a lovely boat with nice clean English Toilets 4 in total.
You can also catch the Water Taxi at the Harbour for 4 lira to Calis.
Catch the Dolmus to the Market at Fethiye on a Tuesday is worth a visit selling Leather goods ,Fake designer gear and Fruit to die for.
We went to The Talk of the Town in Hisaronu for the Drag show really enjoyed that a good laugh which included a dinner of Chicken & chips ,the price of the drinks were no dearer than those outside which is unusual for a place like this no rip off.
If you fancy a night out dining I would recommened the Rose Garden turn left at the Hotel about 100yards down the road for a Lamb Shank that comes with flames burning away.
a meal for 2 will set you back about 70 lira ( £30 ).
Take sterling and exchange at resort the rates are very good we got 2.46 on one day we got 2.49 Lira to the pound where back home we only got 2.28.
This was our 3rd visit in 4 years and would definetly go again. The rooms may be small but you dont spend all your time in them, Cleaned every day ,some days you go back to your room to find a pattern made with the sheets and Flowers all done by the Maids very pretty.

We are not usually hotel people, preferring to self cater and eat out. We booked half board as it was such a cheap upgrade we could not really lose and we hardly ate out at all. We found the staff friendly and helpful both in the restaurant and the bars. The food was excellent (people who expect fry-ups for breakfast should go to Blackpool). Every day we breakfasted on ham, olives, yogurt, dried fruit and melon. The evening meal was great buffet and if you didn't like the main choice of dishes, it was perfectly possible to fill up on the mezze. We don't do lying round the pool but the trips were great - a lovely island boat trip for an incredibly cheap price from Fethiye and the truck safari were two of the days out that we booked. It is so easy to get around on the dolmus that there is little point in hiring a car. We spent many happy days at Sugar Beach being ferried home in their free minibus direct to our door afterwards. If the salesmen down the strip bother you then you shouldn't be in Turkey, or Greece. Why not just smile and say no, or better still, get to know some of them and find out about their lives. I have rarely met such friendly, hospitable people, in a lovely clean resort with beautiful surroundings.
