We stayed at the Hotel Karbel the first week in July.I too was a little unsure about going to Turkey, but how wrong was I. We didn't feel we had to go into any particular restaurant we just chose the one we liked the look of. We ate at the Flying Dutchman twice the ribs and steak are excellant. We were also entertained by Elvis which I liked. Very friendly family run restaurant and bar.We also ate at the Sultan (bottom of the strip on the left) beach buzz and Captain Hooks all with good service and excellent food. At the beach they did a display of the Paraglidding which for us was very interesting. The Hotel Karbel was excellant very clean very polite staff. No pressure to buy any extras. You are given a card to put your extra drinks and food on,but I paid this of every couple of days so we didn't have a large bill to pay at the end of the holiday. They also have there own photographer who will also take pesonal pictures for you in the small garden or on the bridge over the pool in the evening he very good not pushy and very friendly. We were very disappointed with the lagoon as the we didn't realise it would be so pebbley. Also we had a better rate by using the ATM machine near the hotel. Can highly recommend the Karbel Hotel any questions please e-mail me

Have just returned from a two week stay at the Hotel Karbel with my husband and two year old. The hotel was very clean and the maids did an excellent job. We were in a twin room and it was more than adequate for the three of us. At the moment the hotel is leasing the White Hotel so we did spend most of our time around this pool as the main hotel pool was not a patch on this one. We were on bed & breakfast basis, but speaking to other people they did say the half board option was very good.

Olu Deniz is a lovely resort but somewhat lacks any traddition. There has been a new law brought into force where the bar/restaurant owners are not supposed to harass you too much or they get closed down for three days. This did seem to happen the whole time we were there, with each night different bars etc., being closed.

We thought the best bar/restaurent was Buzz Bar and the worst Cherry Chows. Overall we really enjoyed our holiday and met some really nice people.

just got back and must say it was lovely but far to hot !! not that I'm complaining as its better than rain ! but if your fair or suffer from prickly heat don't go at this time of year !!

i was very worried about going to turkey as not sure what to expect ! but was very surprised at how nice the people were and how CLEAN the resort is (no bugs or roches seen!)

the hotel was great for a 3* and the staff were very nice and friendly, food not the best choice but OK and we survived for a week on it ! rooms are small but you don't go on holiday to sit in your room so not a problem really.

would not recommend this resort to young people who want a wild week of partying but good for those who just want to chill out !

would definitely recommend this hotel to others & the resort, as the beach is lovely and not crowded and we loved the lagoon !

2 tips for you all - 1 - i f you need to go to a super market for anything go to "azda" as much cheaper than the others (also they have air.con to cool you down!) - 2 - food & drinks at dalaman airport is really expensive so eat before you travel home as you may have to remortgage your house otherwise !!!

I have been to Turkey 19 times all together and Olu Deniz 5 times, this was my first stay at the Karbel.
We booked and paid the extra for a Family room as were told that was the only rooms available.
Well we checked in and was took to our room, and first impressions were that it was very small and not much of a view, as we did request a pool view, but instead we had a view of the stairs.
I went to reception and was told this was a family room ?
Anyhow the Hotel was adequate, the breakfast was the usual euro thing, but the evening meal, we paid for 3 nights and got one night free for 81 YTL each, and the evening meals were ok but not a big choice at all, loads of desserts and starters, but a choice of 2 for the main meal ! also there were flys and wasps crawling over foods and i did make this aware to a chef and a waiter but they did nothing at all, which did suprise me.
The larger pools with the bridges is the main pool and then there is a lovely pool, very big at the other end of the hotel which is lovely and quiet until a certain Irish family came, a woman with 4 or 5 young kids who had a terrible mouth on her and very unruly children and so the quiet was shattered which is a shame, and whilst i am on this note, would parents who do have children especially under 3 years old please be aware of what they are doing, i noticed 2 days on the run, a woman and man who just sunbathed and left there young child with a rubber ring just jumping in and out of the pool, this was very alarming as an accident could have happened at any time, and i was not the only one to have noticed this !!!!
My personal opinion is why take a child so young to a country where the tempretures were 47 degrees in the day beggers me.
The resort of Olu Deniz is still kind of the same, so picturesque etc, but now the locals are starting to get a little greedy with the pestering and nagging you to go in and buy or eat or drink there, they don't barter as much and can be quite rude if you DO barter, a large beer is about £2.50 and a evening meal you are looking at £12 to £16 per person, so not as cheap as it use to be. i do feel sorry for them when they join the EU, as they will be in for quite a shock.
Fethiye market on a Tuesday is great fun, very good value and very good choice with prices half of that in Olu Deniz, for example at the market you can get the fake t shirts of 6 or 7 for £10 where in Olu it is 3 for £10.
A lot of the prices on the boards of shops and bars etc, is took in 2.50 or 2.60 YTL to the £. where the real rate is 2.3 YTL to the £, so please be careful as the prices are quite misleading.
I feel bad for saying this but i dont think i will be coming back to Turkey now, as the real magic as now gone.

I went to this hotel with a friend and we chose Turkey as neither of us had been before and also it was the cheapest holiday we could find on our budget.

The hotel far exceeded our expection in terms of location, cleanliness, friendliness of staff and even the food, though we were on a bed and breakfast basis so ate out every night. We tried lots of different resteraunts over our 2 week holiday and did not have 1 bad meal. It was as cheap to have a 3 course set meal as it was to chose a main course from the menu but we could not keep up with the huge portions for more than a few days.

There are 2 swimming pools, one of which was quite busy with music played for most of the day. The other pool was quieter and we chose to sit here when we decided not to take the short stroll to the beach. The beach was a slight disappointment as it was quite pebbley and we had to buy beach shoes to enable us to get into the sea.

The rooms were of a high standard and they were cleaned every day with fresh towels and bed linen supplied every other day. It was a nice surprise to find that we had air conditioning in the room and this was supplied free!!

All in all, we had a great holiday made even more enjoyable by the friendliness of the hotel staff and the people in general. The only down side is the pestering of the hawkers trying to get you into their restaurants and the constant attention of the men but I am sure this would be different if it were not 2 women holidaying alone. I would definately recommend this pretty resort and the hotel in particular.

PS. We tried the paragliding. A must if you haven't tried before but beware if they try to sell you the dvd and photos as they are expensive. Take your own camera with you.

just returned from 2 week stay at this fab hotel.
got it for a bargain price, which included bed and breakfast. the breakfast was the usual european cold meat, cheese, olive and bread affair, but there was plenty of it, and it would keep you going until lunch.
the rooms were a little on the small side, but were clean, and bright and airy. the maid laid flowers on our bed which was a nice touch!!
the swimming pool's were great, and plenty of room for all, never needed to reserve a sunbed, there where always some available at any time of the day.
this hotel is also in a very convienant setting, only 2 mins from all the local shops, and a nice 10-15min stroll to the beach.
whilst staying here, try to go to sugar beach, which is a fab chillled out beach, loads better than the blue lagoon, and with great food, and scrummy cocktails!!!
