We stayed here in July 2012 and were a little disappointed to find that the quiet pool was no longer there. We had been recommended this hotel by friends who had stayed the year before. Nevertheless, we found the hotel very pleasant with friendly staff. Food was good although limited choice at times. They had a card system for ordering food and drinks and this was a good idea which saved you having to carry cash on you. Beware though as its easy to build up quite a bill as we found some drinks quite pricey. The cafe below which was the only air conditioned place on the strip was really good. God selection of cakes and decent cooked breakfasts if that's your thing. The rooms were ok,quite small though and we had the smallest shower known to man, was quite an experience trying to manoeuvre yourself and we aren't large so god help the chubbier guests!!
Overall though, a really good trip so much so we've Decided to book again this Year.

Room Tip: Try and specify that you don't want a basement room as they look like dungeons

This is my first review and yes it comes a little late as we travelled to the Karbel Hotel back in August 2011 but as were booking to go away on holiday again this year and im using the wonderful people at trip advisor to gather information about the resort were looking at i thought it only right to review where we have been most recently.

The Hotel is a good size and we were really happy with the room we were given towards the back over looking the "secret pool". We as most people who fly from the uk arrived in the early hours and were disserpointed that there were not options for finding anywhere to get a sandwich or snak after such a long journey however it was not the end of the worl either.
We went straight to sleep after figuring out how to use the air conditioning which comes free, and with the heat even in the early hours in Olu Deniz was AMAZING!

we woke the next day to wonderful views from our room and decided being towards the rear of the hotel was alot more peaceful from being located towards the main pool which first thing was very noisey, breakfast was simple and continental in style we ate fresh melon and toast with cups of tea and coffee which was fine for us,

The location of the Hotel was great being right at the top of the main strip close to the shops and bars but far enough away to not be disturbed by partying, as it goes for the nightlife we found it more than enough the guys at the bars were frindly and basically kept the places open till you were ready to roll home which in our case was the very early hours. if this is not your style then dont worry as you can keep things as low key or as busy as you would like, We spent most of our time in the tequila bar half way down the strip which served the most amazing cocktails and the staff were so welcoming and not in the slightest pushy Tom who worked every hour behined the small central bar ended up becoming or favourite local and we enjoyed the friendly atmosphere he gave us welcoming us back each night remembering our names and even offering us his car for the day,

Olu Deniz is probably one of the prettyiest places we have ever travelled to and meets all of our needs, truly a place id recommend to anyone that also goes for our Hotel with there welcoming staff and fantastically tallented Photographer Who took some great shots for us to remember our time. we will most deffinatly be returning very soon hopefully.

Spent a week here in September with my mum. We had adjoining rooms and felt safe and welcome. The pool was great as was the lunch time specials. Breakfast is fine - after a couple of days I paid a the few lira extra for some sausage and bacon! Everyone was really friendly and it was away from the main strip enough to allow a quiet night- we have already booked for 2013.

We stayed here for 1 week in mid october so slightly out of season. This was actually very nice as not over crowded and tons of spare sun beds round the pool. Weather still in the 30's so lovely and warm. The hotel itself is a nice hotel and very pretty. Spotlessly clean everywhere and the staff very helpful. The first room we had was awful. It was like a small prison cell. Very dark and VERY basic. Had a word with reception who offered alternative rooms which were much better. The food in the hotel was OK.

Breakfast very basic and not worth getting up for so we only tried this once and then ate out the rest of the mornings. The evening meals were a bit limited so again, we ate out most nights. Loads of choice.... Buffalo steak house (right next door to hotel) was fab and steaks out of this world. N-Joy restaurant.... crap name but fantastic food. And the buzz bar down on the beach has fantastic cocktail happy hours (long island iced teas the best!!).

Great location of hotel as right at the top of the strip but just enough out so as not to hear all the noise. Pool was cold but trust me, this was lush when you needed to cool off. Food at the pool bar was awful!! had a cheese and ham toasty and a burger and they were both awful, and not cheap!

The bit that ruined our holiday was that we were told the day before we left that we could hang on to our room by the receptionist, as the hotel was so empty at no charge. The next day, we were told that she should not have told us this and if we wanted to keep the room we would have to pay £50 for the honour!!! Had this been high season, i could have understood this but as the hotel was at about 30% capacity... would it have really mattered. And the manager just couldn't have cared less...regardless of the fact his staff had told us wrong. We were then harrassed to get out of the room in the next 10 minutes!!!! This ruined our last day and my opinion of this hotel and its manager!

Overall not a bad hotel but don't go there for the food, or the service from the management!!

Room Tip: Ask for one of the bigger double rooms as they are not all the same.

The Karbel is a 3 star hotel with 3 star amenities (ie no spa, gym, kettle, etc) but still delivers much more than you might expect for the price. It is spotlessly clean everywhere, the staff are really friendly and can't do enough for you. We had a couple of complaints - our room was small and dark but they moved us to a slightly larger room as soon as one became free the next morning. The shower door also fell off, but this was fixed within 5 minutes of mentioning it at reception. The pool was freezing - we mentioned this to the rep and he said that pools are rarely heated in Turkey anyway. We were a little disappointed on the first day when we saw our tiny room, but very soon grew to love the place. Yes, there were a couple of niggles but the staff more than made up for it. The hotel is situated at the end of the main street, but still only 5-10 minutes walk from the beach.
Olu Deniz itself is beautiful. It was our first visit to Turkey so we weren't sure what to expect. The main beach is lovely but shingle, you don't have to walk very far to the beautiful Blue Lagoon if you prefer sand.
The restaurants offer fantastic food at great prices. I was eating the the most expensive items on the menu for £10! Sea bass, trout, steak, swordfish, all cooked to a very high standard. I'd recommend The Secret Garden, Daphne Garden, Buzz Bar and Grill for fish and seafood, and Buffalo Bills for steak (make sure you go on Elvis night - he is hilarious!) The Help Bar is the best place for drinks and cocktails, right on the seafront, and the food is pretty good too.
We went on 3 trips through Thomsons. I'd recommend the half day trip to Kaya, a deserted Greek Village, such a sad and fascinating story. The 12 island whole day cruise was the highlight of our trip, we've been on lots of boat cruises in various locations but this beats them all hands down, lots of swimming opportunities or just sunbathe, chill out and take in all the stunning scenery. The jeep trip however wasn't up to much, unless you want to sit in a puddle in the middle of a dry riverbed (apparently a mud bath!)

We went the first week in October, the weather was perfect, still 85 to 90 degrees. The crowd was mainly couples and older people, All in all a great holiday, and we will be returning asap!
.

Room Tip: Ask for a first or second floor room. Ground floor rooms are dark and balcony door windows too close...

We stayed at the Karbel Hotel last July. We booked direct and had a lovely big room.
Half board was very good, with lots of choice. The restaurant had loads of great outside eating space. The pool bar was a good place to meet for a before dinner drink, at happy hour prices!!
All the staff were friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Rooms on the upper floors are best

We stayed at the the Karbel hotel for one week. The rooms were lovely and clean, fresh and plenty of space to put all of our stuff. The swimming pool was freezing cold which was a bit disappointing as it limited the time i spent in the pool with my daughter ( it seems children are immune to the cold and she was in there all day!) The breakfast was traditional Turkish cold buffet style of hams, cheeses, olives, breads yogurts tomatoes and cucumber. A bit limited on choice and could be made better with a fresh fruit selection. There was also cornflakes available and tea/ coffee but orange juice was at a charge. The staff are very friendly especially the pool staff. Any purchases of food or drink are charged to a card which is payable on leaving. My only real moan about the Karbel hotel is the beds- the matteress in my room was so uncomfortable i would of slept better on a sunbed around the pool, i should have asked for a different room but could not be bothered to re pack everything so put that down to experience. The resort of Oludeniz is beautiful, plenty of choice for food/drinks. I recommended taking a bus up to Hisaranou which is about 10 minutes away and visiting El Ninos which is fantastic value for money - four courses for approx £8 and plenty of food. I would not hesitate to come back to Oludeniz and have a go at the paragliding which is a must do,

Room Tip: Do not stay by the main walkway to the apartments as it can get noisy, if bed not comfy tell the sta...
