“Friendly Hotel in a Great Place..”
Reviewed July 29, 2011

Just back from 10 days in the Blue Lagoon Hotel. This was our first visit to Turkey and hopefully not our last. We arrived at 5.30am and was met by the friendly night receptionist, check in took only minutes and we were shown to our room by a member of staff. We had a non deluxe room, however it was most adequate for our needs, double bed, tv, large, powerful shower, air con and a small balcony overlooking the gardens and neighbouring hotel.
Breakfast was plentiful with a choice of cereals, ham, cheeses, boiled eggs, fruit, yoghurt, preserves, breads, juice some mornings pancakes and scrambled eggs were available, a cooked Englsh Breakfast was also on offer for 13 TL.
The pool area was uncrowded and there were plenty of sunbeds although most had a towel thrown over them by 10am. The hotel uses a "credit" card system in the restaurant and the bar - just present the card when you wish to buy a drink or food you are given a receipt, you can then settle up in reception either daily or when you check out. We were a bit wary of this on our first day because we couldnt see any prices and thought we were going to be charged mega hotel drink prices however the drinks were only a tiny bit dearer than down in the town - 6.50 TL for a large beer.
The hotel is only located 2 mins from the start of the "strip" full of shops selling genuine fake goods, restaurants and the activity trip agents. Keep an eye up for the paragliders landing on the prom. Olu Deniz is lovely. We learned that we should have changed our currency in the resort - much better exchange rate than in the UK.
Plenty of reasonably priced places to eat and drink.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Blue Lagoon Hotel, the staff were very friendly and hardworking, the room was adequate and clean however there were a few minor niggles - the hairdryer was practically useless, minimal power and it cut out every 60 seconds, I would advise that you took your own. Our room was adjacent to the neighbouring hotels pool/snooker table which had a loud speaker over it pumping out music from 9am until after midnight so if you like a siesta - take earplugs and finally some guests seemed incapable of closing their door quietly and at several times during the day the sounds of many banging doors echoed down the corridors.
However the good points far outweigh the bad and we will definitely return in the future.

Me and my boyfriend have been to Oludeniz three times now, the first two we stayed across the road at Hotel Turquoise. This hotel was brilliant. The staff were great. We were in one of the older rooms but it was fine! The only bad thing was the hairdryer as it kept cutting out! A little disappointed after seeing one of the new rooms as they were lush! But honestly it was lovely! Large pool, always sunbeds available and great staff entertainment.
All the staff go out of their way to help and would do anything, including getting dressed up as women!

Recently back from two weeks at the Blue Lagoon Hotel and had a wonderful holiday. A large part of the hotel and pool area has been refurbished and look great but unfortunately we were in a block that wasn't (room 119) although we were at least on a higher floor overlooking the pool and restaurant. The room itself was a standard twin, quite small and basic and a litte tired though kept clean and to be honest we've stayed in a lot worse and paid more. I would advise taking a few coat hangers as the small built-in wardrobe only supplied 6 and there wasn't any drawers whatsoever. We had to keep some of our clothes in our suitcases or lay them over the small couch. We stayed B&B and found the breakfasts very good, plenty to set you up for the day, as well as the usual Turkish fayre - boiled eggs, bread, cheese, sliced ham, tomatoes, olives etc they also offered on alternate days scrambled eggs, pancakes, cheese and mushroom omelettes and sausages. You also have the option of a full English breakfast for an extra charge.
I have to say that the staff at this hotel were one of the friendliest and hard working we have known. We never encountered any problems that some previous reviewers seem to have had not using the restaurant in fact we only ate there once while we were there - this was the Turkish Night and the manager George couldn't have been more helpful to my wife who is vegetarian, she was allowed any veggie meal off the a la carte menu along with all the buffet items with everyone else. The food and night itself was very good with the usual belly dancer (an English girl!) getting some of the guests up to dance and also a street dance group that appear in some of the local bars came along to do a few routines and they were great fun.
The hotel is ideally situated at the top of the main strip just after the pedestrian part where all the shops, bars and restaurants end so the only noise you got at night was from your own hotel bar and a couple of neighbouring hotels but this was easily drowned out by the fan of the (free) air-con which we had on almost all the time as the temperatures really soared when we were there.
Olu Deniz hasn't changed a great deal IMO since we last visited 6 years ago. The main beach where we spent most of the time rather than the hotel pool (we like the waves!) is still beautiful. We did try a couple of the beaches on the lagoon which are also nice and ideal for families. There are plenty of excursions on offer in resort including paragliding, jeep safaris, boat trips and horse riding. I can't recommend any of the excursion sellers as we did not go on any trips - we've been on all of them before - we travelled around a lot on the local Dolmus minibuses which took you to Fethiye, Hisaronu, Kayakoy and Faralya. There is also a boat taxi that runs approximately every hour from the beach from 11am and takes you over to Butterfly Valley which is well worth it for 15TL return - be prepared to get your feet wet! great fun though. There is plenty of choice at night to spend your time too from chill-out diners and nice restaurants to lively cocktail bars.
Up the hill on the short dolmus ride to Hisaronu is much livelier at night. It was unrecognisable to when we were last there - there is a fairground, go-carting track and loads of all-you-can eat buffet restaurants - still good fun for a few odd nights and also slightly cooler up there too.
All in all apart from the few negatives with the room we were allocated which I understand are to be refurbished in the next phase, this did not spoil our stay and I would not hesitate in booking this hotel again for real value for money and the friendly and helpful staff.
I wish I was still there!!

Went to Blue Lagoon in June/July 2011. Very impressed - recently refurbished. Very clean - food excellent. Location could not have been better. Towards the top of the main pedestrian drag to the beach so not noisy but just a very short walk to all shops and bars etc,, Although we didn't stay in the otel much as we like to get out and bout and prefer the beach to sitting by a pool all day - we were b&b - (breakfast was very good - more choice than a lot) had an evening meal twice which again was very good we were treated no differently to any of the other guests who stayed around the pool all day and ate there every evening, (some places we have stayed, if you don't use their facilities they can be quite unfriendly towards you!). Georgio is lovely. Do not hesitate to recommend the Blue Lagoon and will go back when we go back to OluDeniz. Thanks to all there who made our stay lovely

We stayed at the Blue Lagoon Hotel from the 24th June, 2011 for two weeks. We read before arriving that the hotel had been refurbished and relaunched itself as a 'DELUXE'
hotel.

We were taken to our room 104 which was in the basement part of the hotel. The room was shabby, and dull and in desperate need of refurbishment. The top cover on the bed looked like it had been used on numerous picnic before ending up on our bed. Under the set out draws either side of the bed was masses of dust and rubbish. We went to reception to ask if we could be moved. There was a young girl on reception and the receptionist, we asked could we be moved. the head receptionistI smirked, said something to the young girl and walked off. I could not believe how rude she was, I went over to her and asked again, would it be possible to move rooms, she told us that it was not on that day, but come back in the morning after 9.30 and she would have a look, she then just walked off again. I asked the young girl to get the housekeeper to come and clean away the dust and rubbish from under the draws. This happened immediately. The next day we decided that we had unpacked and could not be bothered with the hassle of moving. Loads of guests were moving rooms during the course of our holiday.

My next encounter with the rude receptionist was four days before we were due to leave I noticed that our bed linen was damp. I went to reception and informed her. Her reply was 'why', my reply to her was I don't know you tell me. She then said something in turksih to the young reception and laughted and told me to leave the patio door open and she would get the housekeeper to change our linen. The only problem with this was that we were on street level and anyone could just walk into our room. We did however leave the window wide open and this seems to solve the problem.

I can honestly say that I have never met anyone as rude as this lady. Lots of guests in the hotel were moaning about her attitude towards them.

The public areas and the pool area were very nice, but you had to get up quite early to get a sunbed. We got fed up of this and went to the beach most days.

The hotel has some deluxe bedrooms, but do not make the mistake of assuming that all the hotel is deluxe, majority of the bedrooms are basic.

I would not stay at this hotel again, been Olu Deiniz quite a few times, the resort is fanastic and have stayed at far better value for money hotels. The Blue Lagoon is not 'Deluxe' .
