“5th Time at the Hisar Holiday Club”
Reviewed October 20, 2010

We have travelled to the hisar holiday club several times, and everytime has been excellent, the hotel is in a good location for the beach and towns. The manager Janade is very nice and will arrange whatever you need, staff are all very friendly and work very hard.
The hotel rooms have recently beedn re-furbed and are very clean.
Food at the hotel is very good quality and value for money, with lots of choice.
I would recommend the hisar to anyone, it is good for couples and families.

We arrived at the hotel very tired as we just flew through the night. When we got there we got to our room and there was a joining room door, the man told us not to go through that door because the door was open and people were sleeping the otherside!!!! so we had entrance to another person's room and they could come into out room too!! two young girls in a room with god know who is next door. The bed we got was tiny, i know there was two of us but i didnt really want to sleep on top of my friend, two single beds would have been better. although apart from this the room was very clean and tidy. that bathroom was immaculate. we then went to the recption to complain, carrying all our possestions with us, we told them we wanted air conditioning, and the door locked and two single beds. (we did know we had to pay for air con and was pre-pared for this)they told us the door would be locked soon, and air condition was not avalible in our room. At that point i just wanted to fly back to England. Eventually we meet the people next door and to our relief they were very nice!! They asked to swap room as they didnt like theres. so in the end we got moved into there room, we had 2 single beds, air-con that didnt really work well but i had had enough of complaining i just on with it and a mini fridge. We were all happy. Until the maid left the balcony door open twice whilst we were not in the hotel. as we were on the first floor anyone could have got in. We never stayed in the hotel during the day as our friends had a villa up the road which i thought was much nicer. Its in a great location though and you never hear the Eski bar. i did enjoy the holiday and the staff in the hotel were very nice, the man in the reception was very helpful and help us out with our dafe and air con loads of times. it was a fun holiday overall.

Firstly, despite what some travel agencies tell you there is only one Hisar Holiday Club Hotel and it is on Cumhuriyet Cd opposite Inonu Cd where the GoKart Track is.
We stopped for 2 weeks here (got back this morning).
IMPORTANT NOTE ..If you want a quiet retreat you need to head out of Hisaronu and stay in Ovacik where the noise curfew is enforced.
If you decide to go to this hotel and you want peace and quiet do ensure that you are booked into the apartments or rooms around the pool as none of the noise from local bars carries to the pool area.
We stayed in apartments (Dalyan Block) away from hotel (separated by a staff carpark) and, whilst quite roomy, they are literally cheek to jowl with the Eski bar which, despite noise laws in Hisaronu, is open until 3.30 every morning(!!!!!) These are NOT suitable for families or people who want to sleep - if you want to party all night and sleep in late - perfect.
The hotel itself is has about 12 steps to entrance and is therefore not ideal for infirm or disabled. It is clean and well-kept, the pool area and seats are cleaned daily . Towels and beds were changed 3 times in the 14 nights we were there. It is an ideal haven for being "in the middle" of things.
The staff are friendly and helpful and frequently jump in the pool to cool off - they are all, in their own way, great fun and help to make your holiday special.
Breakfast in the hotel is Turkish (what else do you expect - amazing how many English people expect the Turkish to feed them English food.....) is served from 8 - 10 and consists of Turkish yogurt with a choice toppings - [my favs were honey or cherries in sauce] cornflakes or chocolate cornflakes, milk, tea, coffee, orange juice, meat - very similar to spam, feta type cheese, fresh melon, tomato, cucumber, lovely bread without preservatives and butter. This is all self serve buffet and you just go back for as many times as you want.
Quick hint - when all of my party were getting upset tums - I ate yoghurt every day as part of my breakfast and had no probs.
A good place to eat is Cin [pronounced Gin] Place on Ataturk Cd on the roundabout next to Deva Medical Centre (don't be put off by appearances) - the food is delicious chicken kebabs, meat kebabs and sweet pancakes (so tasty that many people collect as takeaway food) and the family are so welcoming and friendly - dancing with you - even the Doctor from Medical Centre and a couple of ladies from a shop along the road came out and joined us.
Sunset on Olu Deniz, Dolmus there in 10 minutes, bean bags on the beach, mellow music playing, watch the paragliders drifting down to earth. Beware - lovely shops and restaurants very overpriced!
Monday market day in Hisaronu - cheaper than chips!! you'll soon hear that phrase and plenty of other less repeatable ones! Be really ruthless in your haggling - they love it, be even cheekier than them - don't believe the sad faces.
Tuesday is market day in Fethiye, get there early (9.00) or pay in sweat and trodden toes! - it got upto 51 degrees when we were there. This is a Traditional Turkish town with a lovely harbour.
I can only say of the negative reviews, many people when on holiday, leave their common sense behind and adopt the attitude that they can drop their guard and do anything they want but - for example - at home in England would you dream of walking into a darkened alleyway in an area unknown to you? Why take a silly risk when abroad?? I've seen holidaymakers do it wherever I go.....
I have just one gripe - PLEASE DO NOT visit the two dolphins trapped in the swimming pool in Hisaronu.
To end - finally - Turkey is stunning - the people friendly and helpful and eager to please. I can't wait to visit again.

i was part of the other party that had to be relocated on arrival due to an overbooking (we were told it was a result of the gold trail company going bust). The manager was completely apologetic and drove myself and 2 friends to a private 2 bed villa with pool. Although the villa was GORGEOUS it was a little too far from the srtip for my friends' liking so we spoke to the manager and our rep Katie and they arranged for us to return to the Hisar after 2 days, we had booked separate rooms but due to the lack of availability the 3 of us had to share. This 'problem' soon was forgotten due to the FANTASTIC time we had there!! The pool was well kept and plenty of sunbeds, the bar staff (sully in particular) were fantastic and the Eski bar boys were a treat to see everyday always friendly and attentive. The manager made sure on a daily basis that we were happy and was more than willing to sort out compensation for us including free air con. nothing was too much trouble for the Hisar staff.
The food there is fab, whether you eat turkish or english, cocktails are better!
I had a turkish massage in the parlour downstairs and have never felt so relaxed.
the location is one of the best ever too, with all the bars and restaurants on your doorstep, i'd recommend the sunset opposite the hotel where 'cheeky charlie', eric and ahmet will welcome you with a smile.
I myself am returning to Hisaronu next month and myself and friends are going to be staying at the Hisar next year. I loved it.

We booked our holiday in feb, with Hisar club as we'd stayed there previously 3 yrs ago. On arrival in the early hours of the morning, the receptionist waited till ou transfer rep had gone to tell us that we had no accomodation. They had double booked. We were ushered out of the rear of the hotel and into a car and taken to the Ozturk hotel just down the road. This was the best part of our holiday as they are the most wonderful family that run it and could not do enough for us. We were told the manager of Hisar was coming to see us the following day. A no show! We managed to see our rep at Thomas Cook eventually, and found there were more in the same situation as us. After waiting and waiting (supposedly stuck in traffic after goin to hospital which we later found was a bare faced lie!), he finally emerged. We agreed on a small form of compensation which this so-called professional manager of many years deliberately reneagued on. He could not look us in the eye and avoided us at all costs. To cap it all, the good family run business that provided us with our temporary accomodation didnt even receive payment for us till 4 days after our arrival. Suffice to say, this experience could have ruined our holiday and the Hisar Club would not of cared less. Lets face it, they had their money! It hasnt put us off Turkey, or Hisaronu. But Hisar club will never be recommended by us. And we now know (as we've met them), that many more people feel the same.
