“If you go to Oludeniz - Stay Here!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 5, 2011

What can I say. I've just returned from the most fabulous holiday ever known.

For the price you pay, the rooms are basic, comfortable and clean. The showers work amazingly, there are fresh towels every day and the maid makes lovely shapes out of the towels on your bed in the mornings which are always a nice suprise to come back to!

We arrived at 4am after a night flight and Ayhan the friendliest and most cheerful of staff took our bags to our room and showed us around. The next morning we ate breakfast - none too shabby bar the drinks. The bread is fresh, the toaster is not as bad as others make out! The jam is lovely and you have basic other foods such as turkish cheeses and salads, olives and cereals. The half board dinner is lovely too .It's not amazing five star food, but it is well cooked, lots of choice and starters, mains and desserts available.

The best thing about the food is you can choose to eat inside or outside on the roof terrace by the bar or by the pool. In the evenings you can watch the sun go down and watch the paragliders jump from the mountains above while you eat your dinner.

The main attraction of this hotle for us was it's privacy and socialising opportunities- the rooms are all in lovely little apartment blocks of 8 rooms in each block, no outside noise from neighbours just the bar sometimes - but we were usually the ones in it making the noise!!! and even then noise was extremely minimal. There are two bars one by the pool and one upstairs which you sit round and chat to all the other hotel guests. This was an awesome set out and we made loads of great friends. The bar staff Ayhan and Tom are THE MOST LOVELY bar staff you will ever meet, always interested in your day, and up for a laugh - getting the karaoke out on request or putting on your favourite songs. Also - if you have a horrendous hangover make sure you ask Ayhan to make you a oregano mint and lemon tea and you'll be back on track in no time. The prices are fair in the hotel, and you pay for your drinks whenever you want by clearing your tab at the reception. The staff in this hotel cannot do enough to make your stay pleasant. They will replace things that are broken, they clear your plates efficiently and offer you more drinks if they see you emptying one. There is also no pressure to buy more drinks and you can just chill by the pool or bar without buying anything and just go on the Wi-Fi or chat with the other guests.

If you are there on a sunday evening make it your top priority to go to the Turkish Night the hotel hosts. If you are B&B it costs 30TL per person (£12.50) and if you are half board you get it half price at 15TL per person! There is a free bottle of wine for each couple so really you get entertainment and food free!! The food is a delicious turkish buffet and BBQ and you are really treated with a huge variety of traditional turkish and contemporary turkish dancing. The highlight of the night is the belly dancer who gets the audience joining in - definitely got the hotel guests socialising and making friends for the rest of the week! The finale is a fire dancer with fire poi who does some AMAZING routines. It is expected in Turkey that you will tip - so take a lot of notes. 5TL is the smallest note denomination and is only about £1.80 if you don't have much spending money.

There is a lovely hotel dog called Bobby who sometimes follows you to town if you go for an evening wander, he's really friendly too.

At about 4pm at the poolside the staff will come round and offer you home made apple pie and cream cakes with a cup of tea or coffee for 8TL - about £3.50 not bad! They are delicious!

For extra snoozing by the pool comfort there are some couches which are lovely to sit in whilst you're on the hotels free Wi-Fi on your laptop. Couches are square decking areas where you sit with your legs out on cushions and at the centre there is a little table for drinks.

The hotel is far enough away from the main strip to be quiet, but it only takes four minutes to walk to the main strip and 5 minutes to the beach. The blue lagoon beach is worth the extra ten minutes walk down the beach, and only costs 4TL for entrance which is about £1.50. Sun loungers for the day are also pretty cheap at only 6TL.

We learnt that in Turkey it is seen as rude to bring food and drink brought away from hotels into the premises and there is a big sign saying this - but if you get a largre rucksack and stow it away no one ever checks! We rented a fridge for £20 for the week and stored lots of grapes, olives and drinks in it without question.

Room Tip: You can request a double bed.

We stayed at the Tower Hotel in May having booked a last minute package on the cheap to explore a new part of Turkey. Reviews were good so we were not in the least apprehensive about what we were going to get.
Hotel lived up to all our expectations and more in the end.
We arrived at nearly 3am and there was someone about to carry our bags to our room. Bar was also still open for a beer which was nice after an evening of travel!
In the morning we looked out to see the beauty of the area for the first time from the balcony. Olu Deniz really is a pretty place, as is the hotel.
Grounds were well kept and clean and the blocks of rooms pretty. Cleaners were in everyday and did a fantastic job.
We found all the staff very friendly and helpful, especially Tom the barman for whom nothing was every too much.
Pool was clean and plenty big enough and there were always plenty of sunloungers available at any time of the day (but it was end of May...)
Hotel is well located at the bottom of the hill into Olu Deniz. You can jump on a Dolmus virtually outside the hotel to go to Hisaronu/Ovacik/Fethiye. It is about a 4-5 minute walk from the beach and the main strip. Close enough to walk to yet far enough away from all the noise of an evening from the bars.
Rooms were fine. Big enough, modern enough and clean. Beds comfy and I usually struggle with hotel beds (never had backache once).
Everything worked. Shower was powerful and always plenty of warm water at any time of the day. Rooms cleaned to a high standard daily. A fitted fridge would have been nice (and can be hired for a small fee if you really want one from reception).
Balconies weren't the biggest (just about big enough for two on chairs) but a view of the pool and mountains more than made up for it.
Rolling tab that you sign for everytime you buy something is also a good idea. You get a receipt for everything and can see how much you owe, and settle as and when you want.
Breakfasts were normal Turkish fayre (bread, cheeses, meats, olives, cereal etc). Nothing wow but perfectly adequate. Only gripe was the coffee machine that seems to dish out plastic tasting hot brown water in the place of coffee. A proper coffee from the bar is 3YTL so no real disaster.
Dinner (HB) was perfectly adequate. Again usual Turkish buffet sort of stuff. BBQ night on Saturday was without the highlight with freshly BBQ'd kebabs and kofte. Fantastic!
Drinks were a liitle pricey compared to bars outside, but nothing outrageous (6YTL a pint, 3YTL a coffee, 4YTL a can of pop) and I appreciate that this is where they often make their money up.
Safe boxes were £1 a day which is very reasonable. I don't know how much the a/c was because we never needed it in May.
We would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to friends or family and would thoroughly recommend it for anyone visiting Olu Deniz. We'll probably go back to Olu Deniz at some point next year and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if the right deal came up again.
Good location, family run hotel and fantastic VFM.

Room Tip: Balconies are bigger if you opt for a ground floor

If you want a nice, quiet, reasonably priced hotel in beautiful surroundings this is the place to stay...spotlessly clean room and very helpful and friendly staff. We arrived at 3.30am after a long journey and the staff that met us carried both our heavy suitcases to our room which made a very, good impression! Lovely large, clean pool with plenty of sunbeds was also a bonus :-) The only let down for me would be the breakfast which was very basic and not very varied but I was happy to eat the boiled eggs and the bread which was readily available everyday. Maybe some fresh fruit or yoghurt would have been nice though! All in all though a lovely, little hotel with amazing views of the mountains :-)

Visited Turkey for the first time with my boyfriend and we were both blown away with the natural beauty of Oludeniz. This hotel isn't far from the main strip, which is full of shops, restaurants, bars, etc. No shortage of activities available: such as relaxation treatments, boat trips, paragliding, horse-riding, scuba diving, historical tours, etc. From the main strip is the gorgeous sand and shingle beach - which is so long that, when we went, you could easily find your own wee spot. The Blue Lagoon is a further 10 minute or so walk, and is a National Park, therefore is a protected area. As such, it is stunningly beautiful and peaceful - no offensive noise allowed here! The Tower Hotel is in a wonderful location with clean, quiet and comfortable rooms; friendly, helpful and happy staff; and a lovely resident dog called Bobby. We stayed on a B&B basis, and breakfast was basic, but good. This location would suit if you don't like being stuck close to loadsa drunk Brits! I recommend you sneak your own snacks and water in a bag cos the hotel shop is over-priced and they don't allow you to buy elsewhere - we hid water, etc in our bags cos I dont agree with paying extortionate prices for water! However, all-in-all, I can completely 100% recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: request a room further away from the reception

A lovely hotel with great views, comfy rooms and friendly competent staff. We arrived in the dead of night not knowing where we were. In the morning the view of the mountains, palm trees, gardens and the pool and bars was very rewarding. The bars were lively, yet civilised and the beer was cold. The staff in particular Tom and Ayhan were very friendly and helpful. It's not on the waterfront but only a short walk past many shops and bars brings you out onto the beautiful beach, main street and a view of paradise. The resident dog, Bobby made my fiance's day as she loves dogs. I can find no complaint really. Recommended!

Room Tip: Ask for a double bed and an upper floor

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Tower Hotel. The public areas in the hotel were spotless and kept in good shape. The pool was amazing, just the right size for the hotel, and very very clean! Probably the cleanest I have seen! We had no problems grabbing sun loungers around the pool area, no matter what the time of day, and the hotel was pretty full.
We payed for bed and breakfast, and the food was pretty simple. Fresh bread, eggs, ham and cheese - quite standard fare and it got a little boring towards the end of the stay.
The interior of our room was good, clean with a modern bathroom. Shower was always warm. We had free air-con which was great! Quite a small balcony, just big enough for 2 to sit on.
The staff were generally friendly, and we were never disturbed at breakfast/around the pool by them trying to sell us the Turkish Night. When you come and go in the evenings, there is always someone at the entrance trying to encourage you to "have one before you go" or "stay for a nightcap". All you have to do is politely refuse, and they do leave you alone. The barstaff do tend to favour the 'regulars' (you know, the ones that never leave the hotel!) and will direct all of their energies towards them, and I guess this can leave some people feeling a little ignored. But at the end of a day, it seems to be a family run business so you can't really blame them for trying to make some money!
The location was also very good, just a short walk into town and the beach-front, and the Blue Lagoon. On your way back it is a little up hill so maybe not great for people with walking difficulties.
Overall, we loved the look and feel of this hotel and will definately return in the future!
