5 of us have just returned from the alize, having never been all inclusive before, we had been reading all these trip advisor reviews and had high hopes - we were wrong, but i hope its all because we went at the end of a season.
Staff - the staff started off being wonderful, i can see how they get praised like they do on here. But by mid-week of our holiday, their focus was going home! Service slowed down and came without a smile, everything was too much trouble.
Food - if you will eat anything, youll be fine. If youre a fussy eater, be prepared to have bread, chips and maybe some fried chicken (or a burger is you can wait til 11pm). But us fussy eaters will be used to that. Food and drinks are all inclusive, but there is time slots and if you wake up early from the noise of the mosque & roosters outside your room - you cant get a cuppa as easily as you may think. Our food kept being reused, whatever was left from the previous meal was put out again, im sure of it. And with the flies this time of year it was so off putting - but that is down to how late in the season we went, so dont go here in the october half term.
Rooms - what more do you want - a/c, a bed, and a bathroom. Like others, our shower leaked too, but that can be limited to keeping the shower door shut and turning on and off while in there. Our loo leaked water from the basin and a towel was down otherwise we'd have been flooded.
Balcony big enough to dry your beach towel and costumes, and sit out and smoke on, but if u leave the door open the a/c wont run - fair enough! Biggest down point, arranging the day around hot water - supply off at 10am and back on at 5pm. So dont come back sandy from the beach any sooner!
Faclilities / entertainment - the spa was great, basic but it was the best pedicure id ever had and for only £10! Turkish bath looked great & very cheap, but we did the excursion instead for this but it was not as good as the hotel!
Not much entertainment, but its end of season, so no crowds to draw you in to giving things a go. Bit of a shame really, there was no lively atmosphere. And the authentic belly dancer was a girl named Jane who seemed to be english! And she was more interested in showing the lads up in front of us all.
Olu Deniz - wonderful area, loved the blue lagoon beach (fee to pay but worth it!) seahorse beach included with our hotel - more like southend sea front with fag buts and dog mess. Shops love to haggle, but not as good as the fethiye market - u can get a real bargain. Cheap to go by taxi if theres a group of you - can haggle those prices too. But if you are a couple, can use dolmus for a few lira but are a small bus and much slower up the mountains.
Everything is cheap out there so cant complain about the prices. Yes you will get hounded by staff when in the shops and they will try to persuade you to buy, but just keep saying no. They are friendly enough and like a laugh and a joke too.
Take a trip to hisaronou (3TL on the dolmus) - loads of shops and bars here (well not at end of season, they were all closed!)
Turkish bath - always look at what your hotel has to offer first, the excursions treat you like cattle with strangers, often more private in the hotels and more like a spa treatment
We have been oludeniz before and loved it, hense the visit back to stay at this hotel. Wasnt as good as our previous visit to a different hotel, Montana Pine, that was amazing.
There are stray dogs and cats and chickens everywhere, but they are innocent enough, its just what its like there, we even had a rabbit hop past in a restaurant, we thought it was quite cute, but if u hate animals you wouldnt appreciate them. Mainly in the hotel there were 2 of the resident cats around at food times - they stick around if they are fed scraps, if not they will find another table who will feed them - the staff would shoo them away tho if they spotted them.
Overall, id say dont leave it as late as october to go here, many guests we spoke to felt the same. You may have a different experience if you go another time of the year, i wouldnt rule the hotel out when deciding where to go, just be cautious of the time you pick. And what we hated, you may love. But if your all inclusive and want to get your moneys worth - you cant be a fussy eater or have them in the family, if thats the case ur best going half board or b&b.
