NOA Hotels Oludeniz Resort Hotel
Ranked #72 of 102 Hotels in Oludeniz
Reviewed September 9, 2009

This hotel is nowhere near as bad as some of the reviews written here. Ok its not the best hotel we have stayed in but have been in worse. There was seven of us holidaying together including a 6 and 7 year old and a pensioner and we all had a great time.

Admittedly the rooms we had needed upgrading but as we had been allocated three rooms together we decided not to ask to move into the newer block. Our rooms where cleaned every day and had fresh towels. The bathrooms definitely need a complete upgrade.

We all enjoyed the food, my two grandsons can be fussy eaters but there was always something for them to eat. They especially enjoyed the pizza and bread by the pool and the snacks at lunch time in the Olive garden. My only disappointment was there was no fresh orange at breakfast and for cocktails. Other than that the allinclusive food and drink was good. The restaurant could get very busy of an evening and sometimes it was hard to get a table, as there was 7 of us we often split into 2 groups but this was not a problem.

The pool was very busy and we had to get up early if we wanted a sunbed, we couldn't blame the germans as it was us brits who where the main culprits. There was a large family group of about 10 who would reserve their sunbeds very early with towels, they wouldn't come down to the pool till about 11ish every day. Then they would go out of the hotel and still leave their beds reserved. How selfish, if you are reading this you know who you are.

The entertainment team tried their best and worked very hard, especially Andy who was good fun at volleyball and waterpolo. The evening entertainment was ok but the Turkish sense of humour is different to the brits. My grandsons loved it. We all loved the party song and dance it was great fun.

The hotel is in an excellent position on the oludeniz beach and it was lovely to have a stroll to watch the sunset after dinner. Also only a couple minutes walk to the main shopping street. This beach is not suitable for young children as it gets very deep quickly and the waves are strong. The lagoon is much better for them and is worth the bus trip. If you go the the far side of the lagoon on a pedaloe you sometimes see turtles swimming.

My husband did the paragliding twice, he loved it. He booked with Reaction who have a stand in the hotel. He paid £50, you could get it cheaper out on the strip but if you watched some of the other companies land etc I think you would agree Reaction are the safest bet. If you have children or teenagers go on the jeep safari, they will love it and take a watergun.

All in all we had a great time, all the hotel staff where friendly and helpful and all seemed to love children which is a big plus. We would return to this hotel.

We stayed here all inclusive for a week it was the best holiday we have ever had, all of the staff there are happy to help, the bar staff were really nice and couldnt do more to help, the entertainment staff were really friendly and would do the most to make your holiday what you wanted, the blue lagoon beach is a must only a short walk from the resort. I would deffinately go back there again any day, didnt want to go home, if you are considering going to Olu Deniz Resort Hotel the deffinately go!

We stayed at hotel for 10 nights and all three of us really enjoyed it. Everyone was friendly, rooms were very clean, air con worked great. The gardens were lovely and very well kept, pool busy but great. The service in the food hall was ok, especially Kenan who looked after us and could'nt do enough, went for all our drinks and kept our glasses well filled!! and table clean. Bar service was excellent and all the bar staff were really friendly. Muhamed looked after us really well and enjoyed the schnapps very much! Olu Deniz is beatiful and very friendly people, and a must is paragliding with Re-action who you can get a good deal at hotel near bar. Fantastic, booked again for next year.

Transfer:
The transfer claims to take 2 1/2 hours. Our transfer took around 1 1/4 hours, I dont know if we were lucky or if the transfer time that they state is a bit pesimistic.

Hotel:

Pool, there are two pools at the hotel:
(Main Pool) the main pool area can get a bit busy but the depth is good, the water is a nice temperature and its never too busy in the pool. The restaurant and pool bar are right next to the main pool which makes lunch easy. I would get to the pool by 9.30-10am if you want a good spot at the main pool.

(Relax pool) The second pool is for over 16's. It is much more relaxed and out of the way with its own bar, great for older couples who dont want to hear/see the kids or join in with the main poolside activities. Very quiet if you fancy reading a good book.

Pools: Main pool is nice, a bit busy around the edges, get there early. Relax pool is great if you want to...relax.

Other facilities:
There is a quite good shop selling English snacks (if you start to miss mars bars and doritos) and a wide selection of toiletries. There is also a hairdressers (which we did not use), internet facilities, table tennis, an outdoor tennis court (if you are mad!), a fitness suite which is adequate if you really need a work out. I went there a few times and although it is small and basic, you can still have a good work out. There is also a pool table but the children usually keep this tied up for much of the day. All facilities are clean/safe and well maintained. There are Turkish seats dotted around the grounds, they are like straw huts with bean bags/cushions in, excellent to sit in with a drink and watch the world go by.

Facilities overall: Shop, Pool table, Gym, Table Tennis, Internet, Tennis, Basketball, Hotel run excurisions (ask them about paragliding, scuba diving, canoeing, jeep safari for where to get the best deals).

Beach:
(Hotel Beach) The hotel has its own beach in the blue lagoon. It is a free hotel bus ride away (about 3km) and although it is quite pretty you do feel like you are out in the sticks as it is in the far corner of the lagoon. You are also charged for drinks/food at the beach bar with the exception of a fruit juice and sandwich at lunch so it doesnt quite class as all inclusive. Worth a visit for a few hours sunbathing but I wouldnt spend a day there (parasols and loungers are free as well).

(Nearest beach) You can reach the beach easily from the hotel. It is about 25 meters away but parasols etc are charged for. You can still sit on the shingle/stones for free. The water is lovely and warm, just look at any pictures of olu deniz, it really is that turquoise. The sea does get very deep very quickly in the area outside the hotel and is stony, not great for kids.

(Blue Lagoon) The best beach by far. It is at the end of the peninsula, it is sandy and shallow for kids. It costs around 3TL (£1.30) per person to access the lagoon for the day and is the best beach by far if you dont fancy sticking by the pool.

Beaches overall: If you want a free beach to sit at, get on the bus and head to the hotel beach. If you want the nearest, head straight out of the hotel and you are there. If you want the most beautiful beach head into the Blue Lagoon.

Food:
I always go on all inclusive with my girfriend to allow us to budget. We find it much cheaper (including the drinks). As far as all inclusive goes the meals are great, there is a wide variety of choice rangeing from turkish dishes right through to meatballs anc chips. There is plenty to keep everyone happy. The meal times are spread nicely throughout the day and they also throw in great extras like ice cream cones at the pool side, freshly cooked bread from the turkish oven by the pool, a coffee time with turkish cakes and biscuits in late afternoon. You can pretty much eat all day! Neither of us got upset stomachs. The only con is the food does get repetitive after 7 days but thats only if you plan on piling your plate up with a bit of everything every day (like we did!)

Food overall: Plenty on offer all day, great variety (turkish and english), clean restaurant, easy to get drinks at dinner, lovely surroundings to eat in. A bit repetitive however.

Drinks:
There are plently of places to get drinks, relax pool, main pool, olive bar and lobby. The main pool gets busy in the evening but still possible to get served quite quickly. There is a wide variety of drinks, a nice beer, the wine is ok, plenty of spirits and loads of fruit schnapps (peach, apricot, cherry, strawberry, banana etc). This kept my g/f happy as she didnt just want to drink wine/vodka all holiday. There are water machines/ tea/coffee/fruit juice machines dotted around the resort where you dont need to wait for service which is great if you just fancy a quick top up of water by the pool.

Drinks overall: Excellent variety, lots of places to get a drink, friendly bar staff. But, can get busy and you do have to pay more for imported drinks (Malibu etc, as will most all inclusives). The pool bar is free/open until 2am which beats most all incs which shut at 11/12.

Rooms: Some people say that the rooms are dimly lit. We were in one of the brand new blocks which wasnt like the traditional turkish blocks but was very clean, spacious and certainly not dimly lit. If the quality of the rooms in the other reviews puts you off...ask to be in one of the new blocks, we loved our room. There wasnt much to look at from our balcony but we were never on it when there is a free bar 20 meters away. The rooms contain all the usual ameinities, take/buy your own shampoo as the one they have is like a rubbish disinfectant. The TV has BBC World News, Euro Sport, BBC Prime and another Turkish sports channel that generally just shows Premiership football! Hurrah!

Rooms overall: Clean, spacious, nice bed, good size balcony (poor view but will depend on your room), TV has good english channels, air con is EXCELLENT!

Entertainment: This is the only thing that lets the hotel down. They do try but the evening entertainment is rubbish. Daytime entertainment includes morning gym, water polo, darts, boules, water aerobics and table tennis tournaments which is open to everyone. In the evening the shows include comedy (not funny), Egyptian night (the only one that is definetly worth a watch) and other bog standard attempts at keeping the audience happy. The entertainment team are all nice and friendly and get on well with the children.

Entertainment overall: With the exception of Egyptian night, I would suggest walking down to the main strip for your evening entertainment...if only the drinks were free down there too.

Excursions: You must go paragliding. Make sure you haggle down to £50-£55 each. We enjoyed the canoeing trip (take plenty of sun cream and your own drinks as they charge extra for theirs) and the jeep safari (again, drinks are extra so take your own).

Top tips:
1. Take your own shampoo
2. Change your £ into Turkish Lira out there! The rates are so much better, and most Turks want £ more that TL anyway. I regret being 'safe' and doing it before I went. We got a rate of 2.06, you can get 2.41 out there which makes a huge difference, nearly every shop will convert your cash.
3. Go paragliding and book it early, also do the jeep safari.
4. The pool towels arent great, if you have space, take your own.
5. If your outbound flight is at silly o clock at night (ours was at 1.30am) it is possible to pay for a late check out for 6pm and keep your room...BUT you may wish to do the Dalyan day/night trip that is offered. Where you travel to Dalyan to explore for the day and stay in a hotel there until your flight. We would have done this but we had already booked a late check out before our holiday started.
6. Turkish Visas at the airport...take sterling (notes only) and pay in sterling, it is at a much better exchange rate than paying in Liras.

Just got back on Friday 21st. Again, like others, I was a bit apprehensive about the hotel before going as it did have some very bad reviews. We stayed for a week and this is my honest opinion about it:

LOCATION
First class. The hotel is right on the beach, and it is at the end of the beach front which basically gives it a secluded private feel. It is a 2 minute walk to the beach, which is sandy at first but then becomes pebbly near the water and in the water. You can buy these "water shoes" for around 10 euros which fixes that so its fine. The sea was turquiose and clear. The water does get very deep though very quickly so watch out. The beach, surrounding mountains, lagoon is absolutely stunning though.

SERVICE
very good. anything we ever wanted we just asked for and they provided or did the best they could.

FOOD and DRINK
This is the only so-so part. The restaurant is split into sections for bread (a whole variety), salads (loads and great variety), desserts (not bad), fruits (loads of melons), and the main hot section (ok). The main hot section wasnt that great to be honest. They usually have around 6-7 choices, and around 4 of them arent that nice. But, having said that, if you're not fussy about that its ok.
One thing to watch out for - they tend to use the same meat from the previous nights dinner for the next days lunch, so watch out for that.
All in all though, we never went hungry and the stuff we could eat was nice, so if ur not a fussy eater its fine to be honest.
drinks were all locally produced alchohol. this is fine.

ROOMS
The rooms are all designed in a mediterranean villa style, with beautiful surrounding gardens. Our room was on the top floor, and was nice, clean and large. No problems at all. It had tea/coffee amenities, a good bathroom, every day linen/towel service, a TV and a balcony.

Overall, I would recommend this hotel highly. We were always comfortable and always had a good time.

After reading some of the reviews I must admit we were a little bit dubious about our forthcoming holiday. We needn't have worried.......the hotel was fantastic....it was absolutley spotless throughout and yes although the rooms were basic who goes on holiday to spend time in their hotel rooms ?? All the staff were very friendly and a special mention has to go to the entertainment team especially Andy who made our holiday. We had with us 2 18 year olds, 2 16 year olds and a six year old and all of them were kept entertained !
If you are going to stay here don't be put off by bad comments........some people will find anything to moan about !!
We would recommend this hotel and will go there again ourselves.

So my boyfriend and I are Americans and have been to several AI's before, mostly RIUs so that was my expectation considering this was supposed to be a 4 star.

Room:
The room they put us in first was HORRIBLE. It was on the bottom floor in the complex near the adult pool. I have stayed in freeway motels nicer than this. Not the room we paid for and the bathroom was the toilet did not work. Linens were dirty and had someone else's hair on them- not acceptable for me....The only rrom they could switch us to the next day was even worse than the original, which is hard to imagine - there wasn't even room for two suitcases it was so small. We were not able to switch to the room we ended up with until the 3rd day, but when we did they put us up on the "hill" in an amazing ocean view suite. We did not mind having to walk so we were fine. Receptionist was pretty rude though and didn't seem to care. I do not tolerate bad customer service. If I was rude fine, but she was rude to every single person. Unacceptable.
Food:
Pretty bad, but we expected this as this is the case with all AI's. I got sick most of the days from the food. It happens. Go eat dinner at the sister hotel, it is a much nicer atmosphere (quiet) and much nicer place to hang out and have a few drinks after dinner. That's what we did almost every night after an awful first night listening to the crap entertainment.
Drinks:
Awful. I mostly drank water because what they made you for mixed drinks was just bad.
Also, no beach service (bar on/by beach).
Pools:
Main pool was pretty obnoxious. If you have kids you'll be fine, but def. go to the adult pool if you want quiet. Bar at the quiet pool was fine although the bartender had a bit of an attitude with everyone as well. We got better service when we used a British accent. Go figure. Met lots of fun Brits at the quiet pools. I have nothing against Russians in general, but every single one we got stuck next to at meals or on the beach was rude, rude, rude.
Entertainment:
I am by no means conservative, but the music they were playing after dinner was not even close to appropriate for how many kids were around. I have never experienced that before at a RIU. If I had kids I would be furious that they would be hearing these songs.
Olu Deniz:
The town itself was fun- we went out almost every night to the bars, tons of fun.
Overall, I consider the two of us about as easy going as they come, but there are better places to spend your money. The hotel downfalls were not enough to ruin our trip-we had a blast, but I think what we paid was waaaaay too much for the quality of this resort.
