I cant understand the unpleasant reviews on here ? we have just had the most pleasant and relaxing 14 days at the sonmez hotel.Staff were good although language barrier was a bit hassle as none spoke any english.Ergun or Jimmy as he likes to be called was most helpful and could not do enough for us.Rooms were cleaned every day and the restaraunt food was excellent and very fresh.Stunning views from the outside pool/bar area and night life in Hisaronu was outstanding with a 10 min trip by bus to the beautiful Fethiye or Oludeniz. No complaints whatsoever and definatly going back next year hopefully.

this is an awful 3 star hotel. The rooms are filthly, damp and very moldy. The owner Ergun or 'jimmy' as he likes to be called is a most unpleasent greedy man. 'Jimmy' is very friendly with hotel guests that use the bar ALL DAY AND EAT AT HIS HOTEL IN THE EVENING. if you are more independant and like to explore this beautiful country on your own, (without jimmy organinsing boat trips etc, etc) the man goes into a pentulant sulk !!! My sister and stayed here for a week and to be honest we were grateful to use this very dirty B&B as a base and travel out every day. Thankfully we met some lovely turkish people on our travels and ate fabulous food at the nearby Elif cafe and Baracuda restaurant. (Give it a go, lots of local turks and ex-pats eat in these fine establishments.) the main thing about this hotel is that the owner loves the sound of his own voice and is a rip off merchant. We were charged 100 lira for an extra afternoon. DISGUSTING FILTHY SMELLY B&B.

Worst hotel/apartment i've ever been too. Only 2 or 3 workers were nice. Manager was a pure bully and con. Tried to get me to pay for 3 meals at end of holiday, which i had already paid when i bought them. Music was 1000 watts one minute and 2 watts the next. Didn't like fact kids were jumping into pool. Tried to bully people into buying things from them. Got there at 6 am, had to wait 20 mins for someone to arrive and wake manager for a room key, as there is no reception. only got 1 towel between 2 of us. Payment was required to use fridge, kettle or air-con, fridge and kettle were suppoed to be free in every room... i could go on and on. There hotel was 13 lire for breakfast, next door was 5 lire... and they wondered why hotel was empty. Wouldn't reccommend it to anyone...

We moved to the Sonmez after having a terrible experience at the Hotel Pink Palace down the road and could not fault it. The hotel rooms are basic but have everything you require, clean towels everyday, great air con, lots of space and a comfortable bed. The pool and bar area is well laid out, with copious spirits, wines, cocktails, a pool table, Jacuzzi, comfortable seating area and children's activity area. The restaurant was absolutely fantastic, in fact, we did not eat anywhere else we were that impressed. The menu was incredibly varied and everything we ordered was clearly fresh and produced to a high standard. I have been to Ovacik before and stayed at the Orka, a star hotel a bit further up the road. Although this hotel was bigger and much better at a first glance I was generally unimpressed by it. If you are looking for the Ritz experience then the Sonmez is not for you, but if you want a small friendly hotel with an owner that will go out of his way too make your holiday unforgettable then you should definitely stay here. You will never have to search for a sun bed, can walk into town in minutes, often have the pool to yourself, have a clean room and eat like a king. This is definitely hotel that I will stay in again, a true 'home from home'. Please do not listen to other reviews and give it a go!!!

Now lets get real!! the Sonmez is a BUDGET hotel in one of the most fabulous areas of turkey. If you stay here you can make of it what you will, having read the other reviews of this place before we went Im not quite sure what some of the reviewers were expecting in this price range - £164 for 8 nights B&B for two in late June!!! (that a tenner a night folks!!)
Yes, its basic (fridge, air-con, kettle etc are negotiable extras)
yes, Jimmy (ergun) runs a friendly, chatty potentially boisterous bar
Yes, the mosque is close but then in this muslim country there is a mosque complete with loudspeakers in every community and you would be lucky if you couldn't hear one wherever you stayed!
Located in the midst of what could be described as the worst kind of 'brit' tourist hell, the Sonmez is only a short, cheap bus ride away from beautiful beaches (aludeniz) or fabulous food, culture and nightlife (Fethiye) or ancient treasures (Kaya) or a short boat trip away from real paradise (butterfly valley and other secluded coves)
Stay here with your eyes and mind open and you will be pleasantly surprised, expect '3star' luxury and you will be disappointed. .

When we were choosing the above hotel and viewing all the websites we thuht it would be a nice small and quiet place. HOw wrong!!! when we arrived at midnigt we were located in the room just above the bar. We could not fell asleep as per noise from the bar. we thought it was one night event but parties were happening every night. It was like living in the night club. Could not stand it. The state of the rooms was disguisting!!! Dirty, smelly, either very hot or freezing cold water in the shower. Pool area quite nice but we were not allowed to have own drinks even water. Owner Jimmy is the most greedy person ever. When it rained and we asked him about the weather he replied "Tomorrow sun, Jimmy fixed it pay me £100". also hotel is situated 20m from mosk. The mosk has got a tower woth huge speakers on the top and the speakers are switched on every morning at 5am and beleive me the noise is horrible. So you will have to listen to the noise from the bar till 4am and mosk's prayers wake you up at 5am. Towels and sheets are not being changed at all, we had to steal it from cupboards near reception when they weren't watching. DO NOT RECCOMEND!!!!!

Having arrived at the Sonmez Hotel we were told no room available for us,sent to cousins hotel up the road which was terrible. Next morning went back to hotel to witness altication between customer and manager resulting in pushing female customer. Eventually shown our room which was very small and showeroom very mouldy. Did not stay felt unclean whilst there so booked into a hotel we have used before wonderful!
