Hoyran Wedre Country Houses

I recently had the pleasure of staying with Sulayman and Canan at the delightful Hoyran-Wedre .
This couple are far from your usual proprieters or managers and have the skill and personalities that have made it possible for them to create a very homely, welcoming and restful place to stay. They have an advantage of being able to find staff that are like family. The friendly Ramazan, the shy Beriwan, the house kitten, Murmer, dog Peanut And the free ranging chooks all firm the welcoming staff/family.
The grounds were beautiful with picturesque ripe pomegranates and the smell of fresh herbs.Every turn revealed another picture to admire, and being on a painting tour, this was wonderful!
It was not warm enough for me to swim but the sunset reflecting I the infinity pool that was set overlooking the Mediterranean was just magical.
My room and balcony was decorated with authentic collectables. The bed was clean and comfortable.
Canan was a great cook and provided us with home cooked meals that were as good or better then I had had anywhere else in Turkey. She managed to come up with substitute menus to cater for my friends with special dietary considerations and made them feel they were not causing any inconvenience.
Suleyman was a warm, friendly man who took a us on a walk to see the archeological sites that were unlike any I had seen before. So untouched by both tourists or archeologists! Absolutely amazing, as was the smell of the wild sage and thyme underfoot . I considered myself very lucky!
This was a hidden treasure off the beaten track but well worth the drive.
I know I will visit again and spend longer next time.

My partner and I stayed at Hoyran Wedre country house on our very enjoyable Inntravel holiday walking the beautiful Lycien coast. We were given a fabulous welcome by our lovely hosts greeted with tea and delicious home made cake. The hotel is stunning. Suleyman and Canan have down shifted from professional careers in Istanbul and and have built the place almost from scratch adopting traditional design and ecological principles. They furnished the house with lovely antiques including colourful and lush fabrics. We had an incredibly comfortable bed - perfect for a sound night's sleep after our day's walking. The food is all local and delicious. The hotel is high up on a hillside and you sit outside with the most amazing view down to the sea and surrounding countryside. They pool is set against a stunning backdrop and is so inviting and refreshing. Pre dinner we set off to wander through the ancient ruins from the Lycien civilisation. If you want pure tranquility in a lovingly designed boutique hotel with fabulous hosts then you must go to Hoyran Wedre country house. You will love it.

Hoyran Wedre is a not to be missed experience if you are visiting Turkey. The wonderfully appointed cottages are set in rustic, herb scented gardens with amazing views of the Mediterranean. The atmosphere is one of quiet serenity making it the ideal place to relax and take 'time out', with every need provided for. The wonderful hosts, Canan and Suleyman have a special gift in treating each guest as being special and catering to all dietary needs.
All the meals are freshly prepared using local produce, often from their own garden, with many delicious Turkish dishes to experience. There is so much of historical significance close by too, with many remnants of the ancient Lycian inhabitants of this area.

Room Tip: All rooms were beautifully furnished with modern facilities in a rustic setting. All very quiet and...

As part of an Art tour to Turkey we were lucky to stay in this wonderful rustic hideaway affording great views, peaceful setting and wonderful accommodation. Canan and Suleyman were wonderful hosts and provided great food in a restaurant oozing charm and a cosy atmosphere. Suleyman took us up to the necropolos and told us about the Lycian civilization and treated us as friends. The property is great fun to wander around and as artists, we appreciated the opportunity to paint such a beautiful place.

As part of the Australian painting trip, I did wonder what we were in for as we drove up the narrow, winding roads high up in the mountains and the area looked very poor and basic, but what a treat we were in for. It was absolutely delightful in EVERY way. The cottages charming, beautifully furnished and the crisp sheets smelt of flowering herbs. The meals were superb, freshly and lovingly prepared. Walking to the nearby Lycian ruins was amazing.. and the views! There was a painting awaiting creation at every turn at Hoyran Wedre. Would have loved more time there.

The hotel had lots of "character" and very interesting to walk round. The gardens were beautiful. The rooms had been individually furnished and all different, using lots of old nice unusual bits. My best memory is getting up for an early morning swim in the pool and looking out over great view in lovely early golden sunlight. Cana and Suleyman were attentive hosts and very helpful when we had a problem on our stay. It's quite remote and quiet, just right for a relaxing stay.
