“Excellent value for money”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 5, 2013

This was our fist stay at the Riu Belek and this area of Turkey. I travelled with my daughter and 2 grandchildren. Had a wonderful greeting at reception on arrival with refreshing cocktail drinks. Had a problem with our sleeping arrangements as there were no twin beds so my daughter ended up sleeping with one of the children, which was a nuisance but not a major problem as the room was really nice and always well maintained. Slightly poor on the toiletries for a 5 star as there were no top ups. The food was outstanding at all of the restaurants, and the choice was unbelievable. the kids really enjoyed been able to get what they wanted and help themselves to cold drinks from the machine. The guest relation manager Rida was second to none, and always checking that everything was Ok. The facilities around the hotel were excellent, the kids loved Riuland with the waterslides and the lifeguards were really attentive, but very good with the children, playing jokes with them on the slides. The toilets around the site were the cleanest I have ever seen and the attendant made different flowers patterns on the marble counter top between the sinks with fresh flowers every day. My only complaint with this hotel was the entertainment, or lack of it. The animation team spent most of the day prancing around dressing up in strange clothing and entertaining themselves. The evening entertainment was very poor and rarely were any announcements made in English. One show was close to obscene, whilst the animation team was doing a take on Freddie Mercury. The kids mini disco was pathetic and we timed it one night and it lasted for 8 minutes, despite there been loads of children there during October half term. Apart from the entertainment this hotel had everything you needed for a great family holiday and there was no need to go out of the complex. We did go to the local market at Kadriye. for half a day and took a taxi which was 10 euros return, but beware they drop you off outside a local shop which you are ushered into...obviously they all get kick backs, but it is worth it compared with the bus fare if there
are 4 of you and you can be firm and say that you don't want to but in the shop, of course unless you want to !

This is the 6th time we stay in this hotel and I must say it is improving all the time. The food is exellent, twice a week you can go to an a la carte restaurant at no extra cost and the staff is amazingly friendly. The building itself is older than the other hotels in the region, but they succeed in improving the quality every year. This year the corridors got carpetted so that the noice at night, what was a problem previously, was ended. A special mentioning of the guest relation manager is in place, he solves problems before they arise. A beautifull golfcourse adds to the satisfaction.

We arrived here yesterday and normally I would not even think of writing a review so early but this hotel excelled from the moment we stepped through the door. I have travelled the world and this may not be the poshest hotel but the customer service is the best I have experienced anywhere. The service is professional and friendly without being over the top. I have great respect for all the staff who work here from the domestics to the management.
The riu hotel chain should be proud to employ such a dedicated workforce. I have stayed in many riu hotels and although they have been good they cannot compare with the riu kaya
The rooms are functional and spacious and although they are not the most modern they are clean and the housekeeping team ensure your every comfort

The food is delicious there are Turkish flavours. Which has been a lovely change from the usual rubbish served just to satisfy the British palate

The facilities are huge and it took a day to figure out where everything was I will review this hotel again when I get home I doubt my feelings will change but until then cheers as I sip an excellent vodka and coke free of course all inc!!

We arrived at our hotel at about 9.20pm and after registering at reception shown into the restaurant where the chefs had prepared a late meal for us. After dinner we checked into our Pool/Seaview room on the 4th floor. The next morning we where able to take in the excellent views from our room. The room was quite well furnished with ample storage space for our stay and also a pleasant seating area for relaxing. The room also had a complimentary mini-bar which contained bottled water and soft drinks and was replenished daily.
Prior to travelling we had emailed the hotel requesting a Pool/Seaview room on either the 4th/5th floors.
Breakfast is served in the main resaurant between 7am - 10am with a late breakfast available between 10am-11am in the beach snack bar. Lunch is served in either the main restaurant or the beach snack bar. We preferred to eat in the main restaurant as we found birds or flies on the tables regularly in the beach snack bar. We saw three birds tucking into a guests meal when he went back to the lunch bar for something else. Dinner in the main restaurantis in two sittings at either 6pm-7.30pm and 8pm-9pm and your preferred time is requested upon checking into the hotel. There is no check upon entering the restaurant and no set tables for your meal and so your preferred time is not strictly enforced. The choice of food is quite substantial although several dishes do reappear on a regular basis. There are three A La carte restaurants serving Italian, Ottoman, and Asian dishes. Reservations for these must be made with Rida, the Guest Relations Manager. He can regularly be found around the hotel talking to guests. A visit to these restaurants is an experience not to be missed and do form part of you All Inclusive stay.
The evening entertainment is held in the main bar lounge and what we saw of it we found to be quite good. The hotel also has an Irish bar although minus any Irish Stout.
There are many sports facilities available with tennis and golf being the main ones and are both chargeable. There are regular tournaments held so it would be worthwhile checking the availability before making your booking.
There is nowhere to walk after dinner soyou are generally confined to the hotel.
There is both a bus stop and taxi rank at the end of the drive to the hotel. Buses run into the nearby town of Kadriye every 30mins and the fare is just 2 TLR each way. Taxis can take you into Belek a little further away. A local market is held in Kadriye each Tuesday and is quite popular.
We travelled to Turkey with Thomson Holidays and found several interesting excursions available from our resort hotel. The 1/2 day trip to Side is one not to be missed as is the interesting trip to Perge and Aspendos. The shopping trip to Antalya was one we would not recommend. The trip included a visit to a Jewellery Outlet and a hard sell by the assistants. The assistant never leaves your side throughout constantly trying to sell extremely expensive jewellery. Only when she finally gets the message that you are not prepared to spend £000`s are you shown through to the next section of less expensive gifts and the cafe when you are finally left to browse on your own. We did want to take the " From Sea to Sky" trip but unfortunately this was cancelled by the tour company the day before.
Before our holiday Thomsons recommended taking Turkish Lira which on return cost us quite a lot on the buy-back rate. We actually should have taken Euros where any left over could have been used on our next European holiday. We found that every shop, restaurant, cafe we visited quoted prices in Euros first and foremost and only accepted Turkish lira when asked. If we had known this beforehand we could have saved ourselves the money lost on the buy-back rate.
The main building of the neighbouring Club Hotel Riu Kay has been demolished and they are building a new Riu Palace hotel in its place which is due to be opened in July 2013. The area is well screened off and we did not experience any inconvenience at all from this.
The hotels main asset is undoubtedly its staff who are totally customer orientated. With the exception of the odd person we found every member of staff to be extremely helpful and very friendly.
Our only slight negative being the heat in the bedroom. Even in November with the aircon on throughout the night it was extremely warm. The aircon was not powerful enough to bring the temperature in the room down to a comfortable level. We did enjoy watching some of the tennis matches taking place in the tournament and following the results of some of the players.
The hotel is ideal for either a relaxing or sporting holiday although we did find our 1 week stay to be long enough.

Room Tip: Ask for a Pool / Seaview room on either the 4th or 5th floors for the best views.

We stayed in here for a week in October it was a last minute booking, we had never been to a Rui hotel before but after our stay here we would definitely go again in fact we are going to another Rui resort for Christmas. The food was excellent so much selection and most of it being cooked fresh in front of you, they cater for a variety of eaters they even had dieters selection! The beach was fantastic, the bar served snacks all day and all over the resort they had fridges with bottled water which we found really good. We had read some of the negative reviews, but we must say as far as we were concerned they were rubbish, the ground were kept clean and tidy our room was cleaned daily and the fridge restocked. All in all we had a great week and will definitely go back there again after they have finished the refurbishing.

Right on the beach where loungers etc are free of charge. Evening entertainment very good. Staff extremely helpful and always smiling. If you are a Tennis or golf freak, then this is the place for you!
Even with a late arrival, 10.30pm, food was provided so we didn't go to bed hungry. Would return to this hotel.

We booked this week break last minute, self, wife, daughter and 15 yr old Grandson. We found the hotel all it was cracked up to be but on reflection the different activities were well spaced out. Because of the time of year (last week in October) we didn't expect much in the way entertainment but were plesantly suprised with indoor mini disco and shows every night. The animation team worked extremly hard both day and night with good results. Upon booking we asked for high rooms with a pool/sea view. Thats exactaly what we got # 5017 and 5019, an excelent choice on behalf of the Hotel. I mentioned to RIDA, the customer relations manager, and a top man who can't do enough for you, that it was our Daughters 40th Birthday on the Sunday and would like to dine in the Asian restaurant which is bookable in advance, the next thing I know the booking is made unbeknown to our daughter. The 5 course meal was good but was a fixed menu and the only choise was from two meat dishes for the main course, however in the small intermate restruant at the end of the meal with lights lowered out came a Birthday cake with sparklers and candels alight and everyone in the room (Different nationalities) all singing "Happy Birthday". A very nice finishing touch. A trip to the local shops couldn't be easier, At the gate to the hotel is the local shuttle bus but beware the locals call it "The Squash", the driver just keeps filling it up ! however 10eruo sees a payable on return trip for the 2.5k ride into Kadriye where shops are plentyfull. Food at the hotel is excelent and plentifull 24hrs a day, just don't go looking for bacon at breakfast ! From our arrival to departure we found all the staff very friendly and attentive which makes for a holiday and hotel to remember.RAB, Redditch
