Rixos Premium Belek
Ranked #8 of 93 Hotels in Belek
Reviewed June 22, 2013

The hotel is in a lovely location and the pool, beach and associated facilities are excellent. The rooms are comfortable and the buildings are well maintained but, oh dear, the food is terrible. The a la carte restaurants simply do not live up to the standard of the rest of the hotel. One meal in the L'Amante restaurant (chicken followed by crème brûlée) was actually inedible. The buffet at least allows you to try to select something you can eat. So if you are staying there eat in the buffet and forget the a la carte options, certainly don't pay any extra for the ones that charge. Finally on a positive note the lobby bar run by Ibrahim is the most welcoming, friendly bar in the entire complex. There are better hotels in Belek.

We are currently staying at the Rixos as we speak and thought it good to write a quick review. This is our second visit to the hotel since last September. We initially spent two weeks here but this time visiting turkey for one week, we are only enjoying the delights of Rixos for four nights as we have paid extra and transferred from the royal Alhambra near Side. Word of warning- avoid that hotel at any cost- impressive building but couldn't be further from 5 stars if they tried! Anyway, back to Rixos- the staff are on the whole lovely although I would have to agree with many of the other reviews- the Russians definitely get priority service and the manager needs to take this into consideration. They seem to bully themselves around, do not queue, and on the whole can be beyond rude! I think the staff may fear them a little but don't let this put you off this resort as it really is beautiful! Lots and lots of choice for food- even more so on this visit. Extras you don't always expect with all inclusive- help yourself to ice creams and ice lollys from poolside chest freezer, mini bar always stocked but now with bottles not cans and has premium chocolate bars replaces each day- nice touch. Balconies are a great size. Rooms clean and tidy- they're not fussy but this doesn't matter- it's not the hotel's style to be flash and ostentatious, more classy and understated. Over all, if you want a 5 star all inclusive care free break I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel and although a lot more expensive than many other hotels, we have experienced first hand this time that cheaper isn't always good and wouldn't bother looking at other '5 star' hotels in Antalya area in future as in my opinion this one would be very hard to beat! Just don't be put off my the rude Russians!!!

Firstly would say that the grounds are lovely and couldn't fault at all, it is a massive complex took 15 min to get to the pool area from our room, but if you love big complexes this would suit you. The rooms are spacious but shabby and crying ou for refurbishment , from what I gather this is happening soon! Russians do take priority her and money talks! I had read many reviews saying about this but thought it wouldn't bother me but if you ave children it is hard for them , beware day time entertainment not all of them speak English. The resort is 95% Russian. Was really upset at one point my son wanted to take part in the main pool area pool game and he was told no too young , so I asked and was told the same, but when I looked a Russian girl same age and height as my son was aloud , I was very cross and complained then they said ok but by this time he was too embarrassed and upset and didn't want to do it! They don't really explain in English what you have to do. Compare to other 5 star hotels daytime and evening entertaintment in turkey was not well organised, one night sat in the amiptheatre waiting for a show to start at 9.45 it didn't start till 10.30 and no one made any announcement what was going on people where throwing cushions all on the stage and shouting. The light show is fantastic shouldn't be missed. A la carte restaurants lovely settings and presentation of food but quality poor. Best restaurant Mexican in the day and lovely waiters and service there excellent. Rixos lounge bar ( piano) waited 25 minutes to be served with hardly anyone in there ? Cocktails poor ! Reception staff hardly anyone speaks English , called them to collect cases but couldn't understand so had to go down to reception and explain. Be warned to keep your room on it costs £130 and that was only till 8pm. Wifi is awful not that this is a major issue. Would I go back again no , would I recommend no, back to kefaluka resort next year for us where food quality is 100% and entertainment . This hotel is not value for money !

The first time on an all inclusive, good choice of restaurants to choose from and many bars both around the pool, on the beach or in the hotel.Very clean everywhere staff very friendly, take some local currency or euros with you for when you think the service is excellent. Very few English at the hotel, good quality entertainment in the evening, as well as lots of activities taken place during the day.Reception staff very helpful when my friend lost his wallet only issue is they speak very little English.Overall a very good place to stay with lots to do both in the evening and during the day

The third time at the Rixos. Cant fault it. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Great value for money The food hall has a huge variety and there are plenty of a la carte restaurants to choose from. Weather was terrific during our stay so made good use of the pool facilities, which are extremely good there is also an indoor pool for an early morning dip. (opens at 8:00) Will definitely be back again next year.

Fabulous hotel with superb amenities, great beach, best food I've had in an AI hotel: so what more do you want from a holiday?

Here are a couple of hints/pointers that you may find helpful (I could write a long review about how good this hotel complex is, but I would just be reiterating the other reviewers that gave it an 'excellent').

FOOD -
1. fantastic selection in the buffet restaurant, and really great quality. Got very busy at the usual times of day, but the restaurant is split into smaller eating areas off the central buffet area which detracts somewhat from the usual 'mess-hall' feel that you can get at a large AI hotel.
2. Don't bother with the pay-extra a-la-carte restaurants. The free a-la-carte restaurants are almost as good food-wise and the paid ones seem very expensive when you are not paying for anything else.
3. For the most relaxing way to start the day have a 'speciality breakfast' (free) located at the Ying restaurant. Open-air in the gardens, was always almost empty when we went and the food was superb. Need to pre-book, but a definite if like us you don't like to be herded into the main buffet first thing in the morning.
4. Pre-booking the a-la-carte restaurants at 8.30am is a pain but as the negative comments on the hotel seem to focus on this aspect then I am sure they will try to sort a different system after their major re-furb in the winter (by-the-way the place is kept immaculate and we were surprised that they even thought they needed it).
5. If you are by the pool waiters will bring round iced coffee regularly. Similarly, a lady on a moped goes up and down the beach with an ice-cooler of cold cans, water etc.
6. Mangal restaurant on the beach is lovely for lunches (free and no need to book).

ROOMS -
1. We had a Troy family suite. Villas looked amazing but were so much more expensive. Troy suites are two interconnecting large rooms both with a large bathroom. Very nice to be slightly away from the main hotel. Would definitely recommend for a family.

ENTERTAINMENT -
1. Don't worry, its not the 'animation team'! All professional acts. Lots of dancing with acrobatics. High standard.
2. Kids mini-disco was just the average bored-looking animation team dancing with the little ones though.
3. All shows held in the outdoor ampitheatre. Pick up some complimentary fleecy shawls as it can get a bit cool. Also can get a bit busy so need to be there @ 15mins earlier than show (starts 9.45pm) to bag yourself some cushions.

BEACH, POOLS & RIXY CLUB-
1. The kids area has a shallow pool with water slides and is more enclosed so it feels safer to let little kids just run around. It is in the 'Rixy Club' area so has the advantage of a kids buffet on offer and the Rixy Club activities.
2. The Rixy club has a very good programme with a great deal of things for the children, and is split into two age categories so that the slightly older children don't get bored. It is open from 9am until 11pm. However, on the one occasion we visited the staff looked bored and were not terribly interested in the children. A pity as the activities were well thought out and interesting.
3. The beach is lovely sand with a thin line of shale as you enter the water, so may need to wear sandals. The walkways are a great idea as the sand gets extremely hot.
4. There were some days with very high waves when we visited (not sure if this is usual or not) but there are two life guard stations on the beach that are always manned.
5. Most of the beach has large covered areas (MUCH better than parasols for families).
6. The main pool gets busy (as you would expect).

AQUA PARK, GONDOLA, WATER FOUNTAIN, THINGS TO DO ETC
1. If you are going to the aqua park then take no notice to the hight restrictions which state many of the rides are ok for children over 110cm. Luckily my husband went down one first to try out before our 6 & 7yr olds went on them. They are extremely fast and you need a lot of weight/muscle ratio to stop yourself tipping over/crashing etc. We saw quite a few adults as well as children who had to be helped from the rides by attendants when they fell off/got stuck. Having said that, if you are a thrill-seeking adult or teenager then they are fab! Great that its all free and can get a gondola there and back (especially for families with older kids).
2. There is an indoor street full of shops and a coffee house called French Street. Lovely for a nice coffee and cake. Get there most evenings at 8.30pm and they actually have an indoor rain/thunder/lightning show along the street. (More a sort of mist with flashing lights and thunder sounds but my children loved it). It is a bit sporadic but is supposed to run every night.
3. For the best view of the nightly water/light/music show sit outside in the Irish Pub. The fountains are lovely, especially with the lights reflecting off the lake. Wouldn't stand behind the fountains on the path though as you will get slightly wet.
4. The gondola rides go around the lake, up to the Troy Aqua Park and back again. They pick up from the main square on the way to the beach and pool and run every 20mins (about 15mins for a round-trip). Very nice and was not busy at all when we went.

SPA & INDOOR POOL/WATER SLIDES -
1. The indoor pool and children's water slides were always empty in the mornings, with three good slides for children and a separate shallow area for toddlers.
2. Had a few different massages. All of a very high standard.

Right, now for the ULTIMATE HOLIDAY TIP. Save the money that you would have wasted on the paid-for a-la-carte restaurants and spend a full day in one of the EXECUTIVE beach pavillions. They are like a small villa directly on the beach next to the Mangal restaurant. They have air con, a bathroom and shower, fully stocked fridge, seating, dining table and roof-top terrace. For your hefty 300 euros you can stay from 9am till 6pm, have lunch served to you there and have full concierge service (who pops round every half hour to check if there is anything you need). At about 3pm you will also be delivered a bottle of champagne on ice. Very, very nice and all for about the same price as our two nights at a paid-for a-la-carte restaurant. Word of warning though - save till near the end of your holiday or you will re-book every day for the rest of your stay! There are standard pavilions on hire for 150 euros per day but they are the traditional open-air day-bed sort of thing and only slightly more comfortable than what is offered for free (and no champagne on ice when the kids are having their afternoon siesta in the air conditioned room). Oh, and for ultimate relaxation, have a massage on the roof terrace (a lady will pop round in the morning with a list of treatments).

Rixos has gone to a lot of trouble to provide EVERYTHING that you could possibly want on holiday. There really was nothing that we thought 'oh, wouldnt it be nice if they had this...' A definite must if you want a truly all-inclusive hotel with the opportunity to get away from some of the crowds and still have everything on your doorstep.

ONLY NEGATIVE - the ladies at guest services and booking desk were very dour to the point of rudeness. There is a difference between quiet efficiency and rudeness which they have not yet learned. A smile is free, Rixos. These are their front-of-house staff. If you are reading this comment Rixos then please, as per other comments, instruct you ladies to smile at their guests. Sorry, a small point for such a fantastic hotel, but as all the other staff (especially the management) seemed to be going to such trouble to ensure that all a guest's needs are catered for, then I think these ladies are letting the whole hotel down. And I'm afraid that it was only the ladies, the gentlemen did smile and were very helpful.

So, definitely book if you haven't already. Fab hotel.
