Xanadu Resort Hotel
Ranked #25 of 94 Hotels in Belek
Reviewed October 20, 2013

This was our first time at the Xanadu and we won't be going back. We have stayed at other hotels in the area that are far better and I would not recommend the Xanadu to others.

The service was extremely poor. On numerous occasions we couldn't find a clean table to sit at and no one to set one for us. Ordering drinks took forever as the waitresses and waiters were very scarce.

The staff work hard, but it is clear that there are not enough at the hotel to provide the service I would expect from a 5 star resort, so this isn't a criticism of them, but those running the hotel. Other people we met have been staying at The Xanadu for the last 5 years and theycouldn't believe the drop in service.

For those looking to use the outdoor pools at this time, think again, the water is too cold.

On the plus side, the entertainment was good, with plenty going on during the evening and plenty of bars etc to go to.

It is a shame as this could be a really good hotel if there were enough staff to give proper service.

We have just returned home from spending another 2 weeks at the Xanadu Resort Hotel and we have, once again, had a truly fantastic holiday. Having been to this hotel on a number of occasions over the past 5 years we have seen many changes but the main reason for us returning time and time again is primarily due to their very friendly and attentive staff, their excellent quality / variety of food and drink, their overall attention to detail, but most importantly because of the totally relaxed atmosphere that the hotel never fails to deliver. We have already booked to return to this hotel in 2014.

Room Tip: Garden view rooms are very quiet and get the sun early evening.

Visited for one week from 8th October, 2013. Everything about this hotel was was excellent apart from the air conditioning that had been turned off just before we had arrived, despite outside temperatures ranging from 27 to 30 degrees, and room temperature reaching 25 degrees and not dropping below 23 degrees. Despite numerous complaints from many guests, the air con was not turned back on. This is not the standard i expect in a 5* hotel.
This was our fifth visit in this area at this time of year, but only time this has happened.
Would I go back - yes, but NOT in OCTOBER.
With so many good hotels in this area, why would I return when the management of this hotel did not care about the quality of my holiday.

Room Tip: Sea view is nice.

This was our fourth visit to the Xanadu and once again we had a fantastic time. The recent work to the lobby area has made it a pleasant and restful area to be in and has given the entrance to the hotel the real 'wow' factor. The staff at reception were very helpful as usual. It was great to catch up with old friends and to meet some new ones as well, we are always amazed at the number of repeat guests. Many of the staff have been there for many years and they remember and greet us as old friends. The room was as usual comfortable, clean and spacious and the housekeeping staff efficient and helpful. The pool areas were immaculate and there were plenty of comfortable sun beds for all. Bar staff were hard working cheerful and keen to please and all staff speak some English and are keen to practice the language with you and the shows and entertainment in the evenings are always good. We did not use the spa but understand from friends that it is well worth a visit and the laundry service is such a help, enables us to cut down on the packing!
We had a fantastic holiday and have already booked for next year. Reading the reviews on here we cannot understand the people who complain, if you want a relaxed, peaceful holiday in great surroundings with happy, helpful staff, then this is the place for you.

My family and I visited Xanadu for the 5th consecutive summer in July/August 2013. Once again we found countless returning visitors to the hotel who share similar positive views about it. The sheer number of returnees tells you how good the place is. It is friendly, laid back and thoroughly enjoyable with a very willing staff.

Rooms are spacious and a bathrooms fully stocked with toiletries. A minibar in the room is restocked daily with soft drinks and beer. Views in most rooms are excellent.

The food in the main restaurant is of a high standard and varied with different daily themes, the hotel grounds are spotless and the resort is big enough to leave you feeling there is plenty of space despite the hotel nudging 100% occupancy. Plenty of activities can keep you occupied throughout the day if like me, lying on your sunbed all day is a little too lazy. The pools are well kept and the beds (sometimes quite tightly packed) are sufficient to be able to avoid a mass rush first thing in the morning.

The bars are excellent and 5.30 in the Xanadu Pool Bar before dressing for dinner is our favourite time of day. Cocktails with proper levels of branded alcohol which other hotels can fall short on.

A La Carte reataurants are fed off the main restaurant which loses authenticity but at least you are waited upon, which makes a decent change from all getting up at different times and being on different courses which can happen when taking the main buffet. The big downside with the a la cartes is that the menus have not changed over the 5 years of visits and this does let it down a little. Great for newcomers but come on Xanadu and look after your regulars by breathing some life into the food choices here!

The hotel prides itself on its evening shows and they are impressive but again become a little taken for granted after so many visits. The amphitheatre gets hot and the heat rises through your 'cushion' seat making it uncomfortable if there for too long. Other entertainment is prvided at the pool bar and in the Irish Bar (although the two-piece resident band could have been a touch more varied). An on site disco (open at least til 2) and all night Irish Bar keeps the mid to late teens happy and not desperate to cab it somewhere else. (our boys are still coming with us and are now 18 and 20!)

The gym is the best I have ever encountered in a resort hotel abroad. The Spa is similarly impressive and you must have a turkish bath!

The previous year there were too few staff in the bars leading to too long a wait for drinks, but this was remedied in 2013 and well done to Xanadu for listening to this and for reintroducing the free laundry service which was well received by a number of staff.

Sort out the menus and the wi-fi (limited range from reception) and reintroduce the white night party within the hotel conference area and you'll be even more popular.

Lovely staff, friendly guests, high standards of upkeep and food and drink, keep people coming back and will probably bring visit No.6 from us next year.

Room Tip: Hotel room overlooking the front on level 3 (non-smoking) is ideal. They never give a sea view room...

Stayed at Xanadu Hotel 1-12 September with my husband and teenage daughter. We checked out the reviews on trip advisor before making a decision about this hotel - and we were not disappointed. The weather was fantastic and due to school holidays being over, there were few children around. We really enjoyed this hotel and found that we were happy with most things. There were plenty of activities, if you wanted to take part, as everyone else has said. Hotel and pool area absolutely lovely and spotlessly clean. We had a bedroom with a sea view, 2nd floor, but to be honest you can't really see much as it is quite far away, so not sure if its worth paying extra! We found the food to be of good quality and plentiful, but I do agree with other reviewers regarding the cleaning of tables and slow in getting drinks etc, and it being down to lack of staff.
The animation team were very talented and put on great shows in the evening and were all busy during the day organising activities.
The beach area had plenty of sun beds with canopies and facilities for eating etc were very good. The staff at the beach bar were very helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed every day at the beach.
Myself and my daughter had a Turkish Hamam in the Spa within the hotel, which was fantastic. The staff were lovely and facilities were second to none.
We spoke to many British people in the hotel and most of them had returned time and time again to the hotel - so they must be doing something right!!
My one big tip would be to carry hand sanitiser with you especially at meal times, certainly after touching utensils around the buffet food!!

In conclusion, I would certainly return to this hotel in the future and would recommend to others.

Room Tip: A higher sea view room - above 2nd floor, may be slightly better.
