“Xanadu - The return”
Reviewed August 18, 2012

It is amazing , how many people do return and have holidayed at this hotel at 2 or 3 times, we went back for our second visit. The hotel does have faults, it is looking a little tired and dated, the shows which tend to be every other night do keep you occupied , the "live band" on the other nights tend to send you to sleep , they are so old fashioned and do not create any atmosphere, I think the hotel does need to provide more in the evening. The food is still plentiful , you do have variety , I think they do need to do 2 sittings in the a la carte restaurants, one with children under 12 and one over 12. It would be nice if they would give you a break of maybe 2 hours around the main pool from the incessant playing of music, we are bound to this pool due to young kids , but 8 hours of constant ,music and a wacky playlist does smack of torture technique! We visited the Voyage hotel which was bedlam and like a UK lido , so coming back to the calmness and tranquility of the Xanadu as well as the lush surroundings was very welcoming. The hotel does preach it's mantra of "high class" , well "high class it is not BUT it is a very good holiday, the hotel is not so vast that you worry about your children getting lost , the service is fine, although the grasp of English is not always there , the facilities are fine without being amazing , I just think overall the hotel offers a very good affordable package.

Room Tip: Look for a bungalow by the "quiet pool"

This hotel is wonderful, albeit on the slightley larger side, it has absolutley everything you could want. The food is amazing so much choice, the buffet there was a wide selection with show cooking, and then there was 5 a la carte restaurants where you could be served which was great, we ate at most of these in our 11 night break. Room service was delivered to your room free of charge, and you could have it whenever this was a great litte extra.

The beach was lovely, with loads of sunbeds and a long jetty so you could swim in the sea without hurting your feet walking in! The top of the beach was sandy but where you walk into the sea was stony/pebbly.

There were so many bars, the beach bar was great, and the bar by the pool had a brilliant selection of snacks and drinks during the day - snacks were amazing you could have a burger, chips, kebab plate, salad, pretty much anything - although it does nothing for the waistline!

The pools were immaculate! I didnt really use the main pool with the slides as we had a bungalow room which was closer to the 2nd pool, which again had its own bar, which served the most AMAZING ice cream during the day and all the drinks you could want, its also a nice touch that about midday and 3ish they come around with cold flannels and fruit definetley 5* feel!

The rooms - they were cleaned every day and new towels, the maids worked really hard and spent a long time on the rooms, we had a gorgeous room in the bungalows on the upper floor, which had a slight view of the sea but the brilliant gardens which were amazingly maintained!

They had a weekly BBQ in the gardens aswell and again food cooked to perfection but was also a really great atmosphere.

All in all the Xanadu is an amazing 5* break, its one of the best all inclusives I have been too, with only spending 20 euro's the whole time we were there!! Great holiday with all the requirements to completley relax and unwind and not worry about a thing!! We only left the hotel when we went on the boat trip and the white water rafting trip with Thomas Cook, which were both absolutley fantastic trips!!

Room Tip: Go for a bungalow room at no extra cost, away from main building so quieter, better views, and at no...

The Xanado is understated class rather than flashy. We stayed early August 2012; the temperature was 44 day time, 25 evenings. The grounds around the hotel are picturesque & quiet. The pictures in the brochure do not do it justice. We stayed in a Bungalow room which was a good size. The double bed was enormous, much bigger than a super king. The hotel & rooms are very comfortable & spotless.
The main buffet restaurant is good, the food is excellent. For breakfast most mornings I had champagne & smoked salmon .Lunch is a high standard & a welcome relief to get into air conditioning. The pool bars serve fantastic food throughout the day, of which our son took advantage of along with the all-day ice cream. Evenings the chefs cook on the terrace, theatre style offering a fantastic selection including a roast daily The a' la carte restaurants are themed, Chinese,Mexica,French & Italian; these are an interpretation of the themes. We visited the Mexican & Chinese. The Chinese was great, I recommend the Crispy Duck. The a' la carte's are not completely separate restaurants, but are waiter service & nice for a change from the main restaurant.
The 3 pools are all great sizes. There is a lagoon pool, popular with young children & good for disabilities. The second pool is huge, set beautifully around coliseums. The third pool is set amongst the Bungalows; this is a smaller pool & has a disabled hoist into the pool. The sunbeds around all the pools are unlimited, all with adjustable canopies. The water slides are next to the second pool, but are completely separate. The slides are great fun: not for the faint hearted! There is a black hole slide, a long spiral slide & a death drop.
The beach is lovely & quiet with unlimited sunbeds. There is a fixed trampoline in the sea great fun.
The games room is situated with the shopping arcade underneath the hotel. Our teenager had a great time & met lots of friends. Everything is free apart from the PlayStations & Xbox. There is a bowling alley, table tennis, pool tables ,cinema room, pin ball & air hockey. The staff are very good & friendly with the kids. The shopping arcades very expensive, $12 for a small rubber ball, $70 for the cheapest bikini. There is no chemist at the hotel so take supplies. Reception did offer to get medicines delivered next day for a small charge.
The Beach Party was fantastic! Cocktails,Conga,Fire Eating, Tug of war. Great for all ages, to get involved in or just watch. It was also a Foam party: so don't wear your best..
We visited Belek town Centre & market. The buss is very good & cheap, approx. £1 each. It picks you up outside the hotel & drops you off in the centre. It takes about 10 minutes & is very pretty, well worth the visit. At the market they prefer $ or Lira.
The hotel was very relaxed & not over populated. It is definitely not a "Brits Abroad" holiday.
If I had to criticise it would be the service in the main restaurant; the service of drinks & clearing down of tables is slow.
Most guests you meet are second or third time visitors. My family never normally return to a holiday hotel, however Xanado would be an exception.
Lovely holiday.
Bridie

Unlike renting a summer house, it was the first time I spent a vacation merely bounded by the hotel facilites. I should say that the service, food and drink were great. Importantly, the organizational capability of the entertainment shows was fascinating. You feel that each member of the entertainment team loves his/her job and they display very good performance. This hotel appeals to families with children at the most, so do not expect to dance until the first lights of the morning. However, as a young couple, we had very good time since we both enjoyed the shows (and live music) and had the opportunity to rest. I advise you should go there with a tour, since it takes 1 hour to go to the hotel from the airport and it is better to let the tour organization to arrange this transfer.

First I should mention that we didn't book this hotel. We had booked the Gloria Golf Resort at NECKERMANN but at arrival they had simply changed us without prior notification although we found that that they already knew 2 days before departure!!! This was already the 3rd time for me in several years!!! definitely my last trip with NECKERMANN!!!

So, we didn't start of well and were very disappointed. My compliments however to the lady of customer relations who was at duty when we arrived, She really helped us very well, showed good understanding and followed up on us during all our stay.

In general the hotel was nice, the food was good with enough variety over the days. The specialty restaurants however are no more than separate corners in the main restaurant what is a bit disappointing.

I can agree with some of the other feedback, that you would expect more to be included in the All-Inclusive. One of the most frustrating experience was that, when our 8 year old wanted to paint a small statue in the art club, we had to pay 100$!!!! for something that would cost no more than a few $ to make.

Very impressive however was the Spa....never even seen such a beautiful location. The prices are high as well, but definitely worth it.

Just back from two weeks at this hotel and had a great holiday.Flew from Bristol to Antayla and the
flight was on time. Apart from a wait at Antalya for the £10 visa we were soon transported to Xanadu.
The check in was quick as only four of us arrived at the same time. After a welcome drink we were
shown to our room 3366 in the main building there are some bungalow rooms in the gardens. Our luggage was delivered quickly by a smiling bell boy who showed us how to operate the electricity by
card. Our room was comfortable, clean, with plenty of drawer/wardrobe space and the bath room had a
plentiful supply of toiletries. The balcony overlooked the side gardens and a partial view of the sea.
You get bottled water in the fridge each day and beer and soft drinks.Towels were changed every day
and bed linen every two days our chambermaid was excellent and kept our room very clean.
Food was really good with many choices and the deserts so tempting. If you wish to eat at a la carte
restaurants book at the service desk by 3pm each day for the following day although some days if
it wasnt busy you could probably get a table on day of booking. We tried three a la cartes and in our
view Olivia(Russian) was just not quite to our taste although food was well presented.Service was rather
hit and miss we had to ask the waiter twice to bring the wine we had ordered and we were served coffee before we had received the desert.
The Dragon(chinese) was very good and due to not many guests using it service was quick. Some staff
have a problem understanding English especially all our various accents please be patient they do try
hard to please.Pescadores (Mexican) was our favourite relaxed atmosphere and many choices hot spicy food.Still on the subject of food the hotel does themed nights for dining and the meats and fish are cooked outside on BBQ grills Veal was so tasty. All staff at the desk ,waiters and bar staff work hard
and they do appreciate a smile and thank you.Special mention to HUSEYIN who was always pleasant
to us and most efficient. If you wish to stay near the beach or pool you can take lunch at the garden bar
or beach snack baror the main pool bar.If anyone is still hungry at night there is the Irish Bar.The Tuesday BBQ at lunchtime in the Bird Sanctuary grounds is fun great atmosphere.
Sunloungers are plentiful around the pools or on the grass under the trees but if you prefer the beach
then you have sunbeds with canopy shades. The decking between the loungers is a good idea as the sand was burning hot by midday. When you go into the sea it does shelve a bit we brought beach shoes
to wear in the water as the shingle can be sharp on the feet.
At night there is usually a live band playing and some nights you get musical shows at the ampitheatre.
The animation team work their socks off on these productions Shrek was very good and with a varied
audience from different countries it must be difficult to please everyone. We must also mention our Thomas Cook rep Louise who was excellent and even though we didnt book any excursions she was
always happy to stop us for a laugh and chat. This was our first time at the Xanadu we had a most
enjoyable holiday met some great people especially Gail and Phil.
