“a return to a fantastic place”
Reviewed July 12, 2010

we have stayed at Casa Das Flores on numerous occasions and love the place more and more each time we stay. The hosts Carolyn and John are welcoming and provide lovely homecooked meals with fresh homegrown produce. There are some lovely places to visit nearby including the Knights Templar castle in Tomar and also Almoural at Castello de bode. We are returning next July for the Festa De Tabuleiros which is only on every 4 years and I am told is a spectacular 9 day event. We have already booked our accomodation at Casa Das Flores!

We just arrived back from a two night stay at Casa das Flores. John and Carolyn are the perfect hosts and from the moment we drove into their driveway we were made to feel a part of the family. The location is wonderful. Close to Tomar, a great city to explore, but out in the country away from the traffic and noise. The perfect place to relax! Carolyn, a former caterer is a great cook and we were fed well. We ate dinner at the house on our first night and it was delcious. We also enjoyed the homemade bread, marmalade and jam each morning to accompany a traditional hot English breakfast. The rooms are spotless and the bed was very comfortable. We hope to go back again!

John and Carolyn have created a great B&B and they are first class hosts with nothing seeming to be too much trouble. We took advantage of Carolyns cooking most nights and this is not to be missed.
Rooms are clean and comfortable with good views from the bedrooms.
The hosts have a good knowledge of the area and are keen to pass this on.
The only criticism we had was that initially finding the house took some time as we did not have Johns detailed directions and relied on the web site directions which are far from clear but we understand these are to be amended.
We hope to return in the near future.

Having recently been abroad to Portugal on a business trip, I feel that I have to share my experience. Myself and a work colleague booked into Casa Das Flores for a couple of days relaxation after working, as we wanted to experience some local culture.

Casa Das Flores offered all this and more. The service was friendly, and the food was fabulous. The accommodation clean and homely. We walked to the local village, and were warmly welcomed by all, and we sampled the local, homemade "Vinho Tinto" (red wine) . All the locals were busy planting their vegetables, and we really enjoyed the whole experience. I for one, will be coming back again. Highly recommended .

Casa das Flores - It really is what seems to be, a little piece of the UK in terms of welcome, food and hygiene. The hosts are friendly and the food - home made and excellent. I believe that Carolyn and John would cater for most dietary requirements. In summary I would make a detour for a return stay.

Last summer we traveled through Portugal. We wanted to see a lot so we went budget. The whole trip was great, But our stay in Tomar was our favorite part! Casa Das Flores was my favorite place that we stayed. It was so refreshing to come home to Carolyn and John's hospitality. Nothing that I asked of them was ever too much. I am a vegetarian and a hobby chef. Carolyn's food was out of this world!! The home was very comfortable and I still miss Their dogs, Snoopy and Jack. What a fantastic way to end a day of sight seeing though beautiful Tomar. We honestly felt like part of the family. Thank you so much!! Vicki and Dean (Zig- Zag, Oregon)
