Excellent location for simple rooms right in the middle of town. Our room was a bit dated but spotlessly clean. Mix of antique and MDF furniture in our room. Simple breakfast, but for the price it was very, very good value. Good recommendations for food, and the owner who runs the place is a very nice, unassuming, helpful, multi-lingual lady. Bathroom will need an overhaul in the next few years - the tiles have been painted over by the bath and it always makes things look 'tired'.

You really couldn't get a better location in the heart of historic Tomar and although we often like to stay somewhere a bit nicer, I was more than happy with this place based on the excellent value.

We almost didn't end up staying here because we couldn't find a place to park. The hotel is located on a pedestrian street. The neighbouring streets are all one-way and a pain to navigate. We circled for a good hour before we got a space. Even then, we weren't sure it was OK to leave the car there. Thankfully, some lovely locals confirmed that it was fine to park.

Residencial Uniao is a lovely little guest house. The rooms are spacious and clean. The bathrooms are a bit dated, but also a good size. There's a lounge where you can sit and read or use the free wi-fi (also available in the rooms). Breakfast was of the traditional Portuguese variety (bread, butter, coffee, cheese). The staff serving the breakfast were friendly and welcoming, as was the woman at the front desk, who tried to help us find parking over the phone.

The hotel felt more like staying with friends at a guest house than staying at a hotel. The couple who run the hotel were extremely welcoming and always friendly and helpful. The room was a good size, with a full-sized bathtub and plenty of space. I would definitely recommend staying here and would definitely go back again.

Yes, the place is dated, but don't let that put you off. It's spotlessly clean, and the owners are extremely nice and helpful. No nickle and diming with the bill. You pay exactly what the rate is, which I thought was great value, especially considering that they give you a pretty good breakfast. The location is perfect as you are right in the center of town. Free wif-fi included.

Our stay at this pension was a very relaxed and leisure stay. The family that operates this pension are very hospitable and attentive. The rooms are very basic yet comfortable for a good nights sleep, you are travelling and vacationing, it is not a stay for those who just want to stay in their rooms ! Chuck Supplee and myself, Danny Fabela went on a two week trip, I am glad we did, because my good freind Chuck just passed away on June 8th 2009. I now want to take my wife on this trip to such a beautiful and freindly country. They serve you a compimentary breakfast in the morning with some GOOD EUROPEAN STRONG COFFEE!! you will be wired for the rest of the day.. Everything in Tomar from this pension is walking distance. See my photos on www.webshots.com and search under danosaur. Enjoy.. we were there in May 2002, not 2006. In memory of my good freind, Chuck Supplee, we all love you and miss you,, Danny and Malinda Fabela

The Uniao is located on the main pedestrianized shopping street in the charming town of Tomar. The room was clean, but very basic. It could have used a paint job and higher wattage bulbs in the fixtures. Everything worked, however, and the dining room was pleasant, although the breakfast was nothing special. Bathroom was clean and decent-sized. For 35 euros, it's hard to complain.
