We visited this convent before in 2007, and again this spring with more family members. It was even more beautiful and amazing than I remembered it. Just a steep but relatively easy and short walk up from our pensao in old Tomar, the site afforded us a decent two-hours of exploration and discovery. It is large, with much to see and marvel at, from the manueline window to the cloistres galoistre. Free oranges were handed out and refreshed us as we went. Even our six year old son became engaged by the castle walls, the rooftop views, and the many gargoyles adorning the old structure.
