A beautiful, meditative place to spend an afternoon. We were glad we took the time to walk through it.

Stunning views and an incredibly beautiful castle and convent. Lots of history, definitely a place to see in Tomar!

A monastery dating back to the 13th century, situated on top of the town. 15 min. uphill walk, or you can drive your car, or you can take the city train. Entrance €6 - well worth it

There are so many positive reviews of this attraction that there's no point in adding another one, except perhaps to give some practical information. The entire monastery complex is a museum, so unlike the monastery in Batalha, for example, you don't get to see the church for free. The monastic church is not used for religious purposes, so contrary to one of the more recent reviews, you don't have to dress appropriately. The regular admission is 6 euros (free on Sunday morning). There's a gift shop on the way out if you want a guidebook with a floor plan. The two highlights not to miss are the old rotunda part (charola) of the church and the famous Manueline window.

This was one of the highlights of our trip last week.
Built in the 1200's, it was a centre for the knights Templar.
The buidlings, round church are all very interesting and worth the visit.
Beautiful gardens and a lot of interior rooms to visit
Take the time to google the site - Convento de Christo, Tomar to find a wealth of information.
I highly recommend this as a must see. Entrance fee was 6 euros.
We spent a good hour to two hours.
Parking was easy right outside ( maybe because it is just starting to hit high season)
