“Good experience”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

By accident we ended up in Tomar and stayed the night in this great regional hotel. Hotel Templarios is in a good location beside the old town and short walk up the hill to an impressively preserved convent that is worth a visit. Tomar is a nice change to the city and the hotel has large rooms good rates and the food was above average. The staff were all helpful and with free wi-fi we were able to sit in the bar and enjoy the hotel while catching up on the news from home. For the location and price you would be hard to find any fault at this location.

After a week in inner-city Lisbon, it was very pleasant to drive into the grounds of this spacious hotel. Nicer still to sit out on our balcony with a view over Tomar and the Nabão river winding below. Exceptionally pleasant to relax on the terrace, or round the pool or in the large attractive lounge/bar area. It is convenientally placed for the path up to the Convento do Christo and the cafes and restaurants of the old town.

Room Tip: Double rooms with double beds look over the carparking but also up to the Convento. The doubles on...

This is a nice 4 star hotel in a old town that needs more nice places to sleepover.

The size of the rooms is ok, however the AC is a bit too strong and directed to the bed, thus controlling the room temperature. The service in the bar/reception is perfect! the swimming pool is very nice and the connection to the spa also, however it is very strange that some rooms have wardrobes and others don't ... it's a 4*... so all should have (especially if you ask for one) but ok. The breakfast is ok but nothing especial (the hot food was not there or very simple for a 4*), at the end the breakfast is simply bread, coffee, sweet and fruit... not very much 4*.
Good for families and a good value for money if you are not looking for a 4* full treat.

We stayed one night in our whirlwind trip through Portugal. The room and bathroom were very large and we had a nice balcony that looked up the hill at the Convento de Cristo. As there was a heat wave in Portugal while we were in Tomar (97 degrees that day) this was the only room that we were comfortable in overnight. It has air conditioning and you are able to crank it down to 16 degrees celsius.

There is a very large parking lot out front, so it shouldn't be a problem if you drive. My only complaint is that we were not advised by the hotel (even after we emailed them for a confirmation) that there was a festival in Tomar that night that closed every street to the hotel nor that they had a very large convention that same day. We spent nearly an hour driving around Tomar trying to find a street that was not blocked off that would get us to the hotel. We eventually left town and came back in to go around the other side. We wish the hotel would have informed us and given us directions via the only way in to the hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the Convento de Cristo.

Beautiful Hotel. Entrance and outside decor to hotel is fantastic. Gorgous foyer. Room was large with large balcony and full separate ensuite. Quite setting but close to all attractions. Little tricky finding when driving by car but people are very friendly and speak good english and very helpful. Tomar was settled in the 11th and 12th centuries by Jesuit priests and teh area attractions are very reflective of this. The hotel had a good size fitness room and nice indoor pool. Staff was very professional, yet extremely friendly and helpful. loved our time there. Great complimentary buffett breakfast

A Portuguese friend of mine from Lisbon took me to see Tomar and the sites in the area, and we chose to stay at the Hotel dos Templarios overnight. I was totally impressed with every aspect of the hotel and consider it to be one of my all-time favorites! Our room was large, clean and comfortable, and we had a wonderful balcony from which to enjoy the beautiful view of the river and parks adjoining the facility. The next morning we had a wonderful breakfast in a very attractive dining area and enjoyed some wonderful selections. I have stayed in a lot of hotels in my travels, including the Bellagio and Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas and other highly rated facilities, and I found this unexpected hotel in Tomar to add as a favorite. I cannot think of a single negative point about the facility or our stay and I would highly recommend it to anyway staying in this historic city! Should I be lucky enough to visit Tomar again, I know where I will be staying!

Room Tip: My friend and I automatically ended up with a room overlooking the river and parks which was wonderf...

We only stayed one night but it's a night that made our vacation! The rooms were clean and comfortable. We ate at the restaurant and had a 5 star treatment. Everyone was nice and all the employees from the greeting at the door serves, front desk and to the bartenders up to closing were excellent. The pools and deck area was clean and inviting. We used the indoor pool which was beautiful. The food and service was top notch!!!! We only went to see the Tomar’s Templar castle and feel in love with the city. Would return if I ever go to Portugal again. The highlight of our trip was the Templar Castle and Hotel dos Templarios. Thank you for making our vacation a fun and relaxing trip!
