Our stay in Hotel dos Templarios was fantastic. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, the room was large and comfortable with a large balcony and a lovely view. Both the indoor and outdoor pool were lovely, and it was relaxing ordering tea and cake poolside in the afternoon (service was great)! The breakfast - which was included in the price - was very good.

Great location. The town centre is a short walk away as is the Knights Templar Castle, though it's a steep uphill walk.

This was one of the cheaper hotels we stayed in on our trip and we felt it was excellent value. Extras, such as drinks at the bar etc, were very reasonably priced so we could relax without worrying we'd be caught out by being charged way over the top for anything.

Would definitely recommend this hotel (and a visit to the Knights Templar Castle).

Room Tip: We asked the gentleman on the front desk to give us a room that he himself would recommend and he ch...

Very well located, it's probably the best Hotel in Tomar. The Hotel is not new but all the areas are in very good condition. The rooms are big and the beds are quite good.
The breakfast is very good and all the staff were very nice.
One of the things that needs inprovement are the TV's. Nowadays it's almost mandatory to have LCD televisions. But that is a small detail.
Overall it was a very good experience.

The Hotel dos Templários is one of the best hotels in Portugal. Placed in the city of Tomar this hotel is a wonderful place to visit the surrounding cities and attractions. It is not cheap but the price is well worthy when you have all sort of amenities, magnificent gardens and the river. Inside and outside pool, spa and inside/outside bars. The restaurant is a must and the breakfast is superb. The staff is very friendly and always helpful. Good rooms and lost of restaurants and bars in the city.

For some reason there are no signs to the hotel when you enter the town. So after a bit of a drive round, we eventually spotted it through the parkland that surrounds it. Even then the sign on the roof just says "Hotel". Possibly this low key approach helped the total wow when you drive up to the front entrance. It gets better inside...decadently spacious lobby area with lounge and bar perfectly sited. Our room was so spacious and luxurious that we asked reception if we had been given a suite by accident ! "No sir, that's our superior room, suites have 2 floors". Wow, again.
Possible one of the largest and nicest hotel rooms we've ever had. No balcony but a huge window with views from the bed to the beautiful hills and castle. Enormous bed on a raised platform, full size dining table and several chairs, large bathroom with shower and bath. This was going to be a nice stay.
Tried the restaurant 3 times, twice very good but a total disaster the third time. There are several modest but quality restaurants in Tomar, but we did find the town very quiet on the Sunday we arrived and on the Monday. More visitors arrived at the hotel later in the week and although it obviously caters for international coach parties, it didn't detract from the experience.
All the staff were very helpful and we found that by sitting up at the bar we had some interesting conversations with barman Francesco, who gave us lots of good ideas and directions for trips out. The tourist office was also most helpful and generous with material to help us enjoy the stay.
The Templars Castle was worth the hot slog up the hill. (Temporary roadworks made it a bit more of a hike)
Considering that along with most people, Tomar was a totally unknown destination, we found it to be a beautiful riverside location with a very interesting and genuine town centre. Within short driving distance are some stunning places to visit, looking almost Austrian in their green valleys and lakeside settings.
A very different Portugal and an excellent hotel to see it all from

We really loved this hotel. We received a very warm welcome and our room' as I had requested, had a lovely view over the river and a balcony. The climb to the convent was a challenge due to roadworks and the entrance not signposted but it was worth it.The hi light of our stay was dinner in the dining room.It was superb and very reasonably priced. Afterwards we had a drink in the lounge while listening to a marvelous pianist. Highly recommend a stay here.
