We visited here based on being the number 1 in Olhao and must say it didnt disappoint at all - in fact we both agreed that here we experienced the most enjoyable meal either of us have ever had. Everything from arrival through to leaving was an obvious 10/10 and cannot recommend this place enough.
When we arrived we decided to sit upstairs in the glass cube which was decorated very minimalist and modern. The waitor George, who also happens to be a Portuguese national Karate champion - couldnt have been more attentive & helpful when deciding on what to order. We both wanted starters but he openly said that the bruchetta, being such a large portion would be more than enough for both of us. Unusual for a restaurant to not just want you to spend as much money as possible so this was noted!
When the bruchetta arrived it was honestly out of this world. Tangy, fresh tomato sauce and flavoured to perfection. The dough must have been minutes old it was that fresh. We ordered a bottle of rose wine which was so good we ordered a second bottle.
For mains I had a seafood pasta with freshly caught prawns and smoked salmon cubes - it really was to die for. Unlike a lot of places back home, it wasnt saturated in excessive creamy sauce, or bulked up with rogue onions, instead just a light olive oil and the actual food flavoured the dish just wonderfully. The prawns were so soft and juicy; not the usual chewy rubber band-like crustations you sometimes find yourself dealing with! The portion size was just right too - not a mass made bulked up plate but plenty to make you full.
My partner opted for the steak which at 19 euros is actually cheaper than TGI fridays back home - now isnt that a laugh! A regular steak eater, he declared it the best he has ever had and I can back that up as I tried some. It was done medium and just melted in the mouth. The sauce was also rather amazing! A seperate dish of baked potato slices done in mozarella cheese was brought to us and service time was impeccable.
For dessert we shared some Tiramissu which was again of an fantastic standard. The value for money and atmosphere in this establishment is truly exemplar. The only negative to visiting is now my standards have quadrupled and will be much harder to impress me now going forward! After tasting the tomato on the bruchetta from Pizza na Pedra its unlikely I'll be able to withstand canned food at any point again!
We asked the waitor about any bars which we go onto afterwards for a few drinks and he recommended the owners' friends bar just a couple streets away - its a very small little rustic tavern but was a fantasticlittle end to the night - I think it was called Sal y Pimiento, just ask at the restaurant.
Once again a 10/10 cannot fault this place at all. Thanks for a very very enjoyable meal!
