“A little piece of heaven!”
Reviewed June 2, 2009

I had not been to the Algarve for 16 years as we usually holiday in the U.S. We only had a week so decided on Portugal. We researched the area and found a beautiful villa in the small village of Burgau, west of Lagos. We were totally surprised and completely delighted with this little piece of heaven. It was so pretty and the coastline was outstandingly beautiful. The location makes it ideal for exploring the West coast and we really loved Sagres. We found some lovely restaurants with excellent food and service. The regional wines were also very good and reasonably priced. For a relaxing holiday I cannot recommend Burgau highly enough. The beaches are covered in golden sand and most of them are in pretty little coves. We will definitely go back and you cannot get a better recommendation than that.

“Fantastic Village”
Reviewed September 18, 2008

Burgau is a pretty little village that has coped well with the influx of tourism, unlike some of it's neighbours. It is very reminisent of St Ives in cornwall, with it's narrow cobbled streets running down the hill to the beach and slipway where fishermen still go out in little boats every day.
The beach is a beautiful sandy one with a beach bar and a few good restraunts near by. The village has quite a few good places to eat and the best get full very quickly so it is a good idea to book.

“Football trip”
Reviewed December 31, 2007

Went here for Euro 2004, the place itself is pretty quiet but was still suitable for a group of 8 lads. There were plenty of bars for us to have a drink in and some of the surrounding areas were about a 15 minute taxi ride for some nightlife. The area is best suited for families and people looking for a quieter time. All the people are very freindly, we even had some football matches against the local people.
