“Tiny, different and traditional. Perfect”
Reviewed September 27, 2013

We had a super meal here while on holiday in Burgau. I had rabbit stew, divine, I still dream about it! My husband had fish, beautifully cooked and all explained beforehand. Lovely lady serving on and doing everything really. Well worth a booking, and do book the restaurant is tiny and only has about 6 tables!

“Great!”

Great food in a small cozy little restaurant. The service was ok and the Owner himself have us opinions on the menu. Loved it.

“Overcooked vegetables, tasteless potatoes, bad wine and dodgy pricing”
Reviewed August 16, 2013

We really can't see why this place has the great reviews it has. Whilst my fish was cooked acceptably, the vegetables (fresh carrots and beans) which accompanied it were way overcooked to the point they were completely tasteless, as were the boiled potatoes, which were the worst I've had in years. My partner's steak was of good quality, but not cooked as he had requested.
The red wine was bad quality compared with the house wine in other local restaurants. The pricing is....interesting. The menu quoted golden bream/dourada at €10.50 whilst the blackboard said €11.50. I noticed the same inconsistency in the prices of the sea bass. We were charged the higher of the two prices despite the fact I specifically ordered from the menu as opposed to the blackboard.
We ordered bread for which we were charged €1.60 for four half slices - not so bad except we were also charged €1.80 for two tiny cartons of butter!
The service was pleasant, however the dreadful main courses left us just wanting to leave so that we could go to have some decent food in the form of dessert elsewhere!
There are many other far better restaurants in Burgau than this one, and we can honestly say that we do not recommend, and will never return to Os Amigos.

“Really good little restaurant that makes an effort!”
Reviewed July 26, 2013

We dined here twice on a recent visit to the wonderful village of Burgau.
On both occasions, we were really impressed. The owner is a froendly and attentive guy who makes the effort.
Starter of Deep Fried Scampi was fab as were the steaks (really tender!) Piri Piri Chicken was great and fresh fish (Sea bass & Stone Bass) was also really good. They also do a varied childrens menu incl half steaks - this is a change from the usual burger and chips offered by many.
Deserts are also top notch, particularly the white chocolate home made one!
It's small and they cook everything to order, but it's worth it. I would highly recommend Os Amigos.

“Excellent dishes, friendly staff”
Reviewed July 10, 2013

Top of my list for eating out in Burgau. A menu to suit the majority of tastes, with fresh fish being a speciality. This is good quality, fresh, traditional Portuguese food. Kids menu also available. Booking is essential. The staff are friendly and speak English very well.
