“Thai in the unexpected City”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 13, 2013

The food here is great. Topnotch. Highly recommended is their Tom Yum Soup, Bagoong Rice with Adobo and Green Mango Salad, and Thai Iced Tea.

The travel may be worth it especially after the food made your tummy full but parking here is a great deal of challenge. Tip: Go there probably early like 11 in the morning on a weekend.

“best thai restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 2, 2013

i grew here in marikina and i didnt know that this resto exist, though im very familiar with its location since it is found in marikina public market, dry goods section. krung thai serves very good authentic thai food! so far the best thai resto we ever tried. we ordered their bagoong rice, thai fried chicken, tom yam and milk tea. these are their best sellers and really must try!four thumbs up including my toes. owner must have some improvements on their facade and facility which may help them have a greater opportunity to attract more food ethusiasts... will definitely bring my family here to share the great taste bud expeience i had. *(^_^)

“Authentic thai! Will come back for more”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 26, 2013 via mobile

Me and my boyfriend tried this restaurant because of its rating in tripadvisor. The place was just beside a public market in marikina and no one will notice that it is a thai restaurant until such time you enter the resto and try their food. They have the best milk tea! I loved it. also all the food that we ordered are so delicious and authentic (padthai, tomyam, and chicken curry). We cant stop eating all thats in our plate and we even want to try all thats in their menu (but unfortunately we are so full!) oh i love to go back and try the rest of the food in krung thai! Affordable yet authentic! And the best thing is that its just within marikina! will go back maybe next week so i can have a taste of their milk tea again!

“Krung Thai A Hidden Gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 2, 2013

Sometimes, restaurants do not have to be fancy nor do they have to be located in tony areas to serve good, delectable food. In fact, it could be a hole in a wall restaurant located right beside a public market and yet serve food that could rival those served in expensive restaurants in tres chic areas. That is what Krung Thai Restaurant is, a small, almost hole-in-a-wall-restaurant, located right beside the Marikina Public Market but probably serves the best Thai food in the country.

It has been sitting there for maybe 10 years now, but few people in the Metro probably know that it even exists. It a secret only Marikenos and people in neighboring towns share.

Krung Thai serves a whole range of Thai food from Pad Thai, to Tom Yum, to Catfish Salad, to the more famous Bagoong Rice. None of the fare fails--it has never done so with me with the more than 20x I have visited the place. Additional proof of this is their growing numbers of loyal patrons not only from Marikina but from neighboring cities and towns as well. Five years back only a handful of people ate there but now, the restaurant is filled to the brim especially during lunch.

Food is served in generous portions. All are redolent of food served in the streets of Bangkok--you can never get this authentic Thai taste in the stylish restaurants in Metro Manila. And you can get all these for the price of a lark. I bring in my old folks here on their birthdays from time to time and tag along some 7 or more people. I usually do not spend more than PhP2,000, including drinks for everyone.

I guess Krung Thai keeps to the tradition of good food in Thailand, which can never be found in hotels or fancy restaurants where bourgeois foreigners come to eat but in the hawkers food stalls in the streets of Thailand where the locals, the hoi polloi, the sweaty masses congregate to eat because food there is cheap, but uber delicious.
