we were booked into Bali Shangrlia but as they were overbooked we were taken to Bali Palms resort, initially for one night and then we were returning to Shangrila the next day, however, we liked Bali palms and decided to stay there. Check in was quick and efficient, lovely reception staff. The first room we had was a hotel room, great views of the pool and sea but a very small room, the bathroom is in need of renovation but otherwise ok for a short stay. The bed was very comfortable and lovely to listen to the waves crashing on the rocks. The next day we were having breakfast and got talking to the manager, we were interested in the brand new villa's they just built, and he showed us around some of them, so we ended up paying a bit more and getting an upgrade to a studio room, it was fantastic, still new we were the first one's in it, amazing views over the pool and sea, very comfortable bed, flat screen tv, bathroom very spacious and lovely, small kitchenette, plenty of storage space,a/c worked great, massive balcony
The staff are all lovely, happy & friendly people, special thanks to Melani, YoYo, Rani, and Gouday(G'day mate!) thank you guys, we will hold a special place in our hearts for you all and can't wait to come back and see you again
breakfast was very good, lots of choice and great prices (if you don't get it included) lovely restaurant overlooking the sea, we ate dinner there a few times too which was good too, and prices not too bad
the day spa is great, we had lots of massage's and treatments there at very good rates too, excellent service and all the girls are lovely
the pool area is lovely, water temp is great and have massage next to the pool and a jacuzzi, plenty of sun loungers and pool towels, with a bar right next to it to get your cocktails and relax
the resort itself is looking great, they have just finished doing a lot of building and renovations, there is still some work going on just as you come down the steps past the reception, but this wasn't an issue, we didn't hear anything much and it's only in the day time, as its away from the pool area and rooms you don't even notice it, this area will also all look good when it is finished,
the location is good walking distance to dining and shops, about 10 min walk to main part of town near the lagoon, but Bali Palms run a free shuttle to Shangrila every 2 hours and will drop you off in town if you wish
we had a lovely 7 day stay and will return for sure
thankyou to all the staff and management for making our stay so wonderfull and we look forward to seeing you all again as soon as possible :-)

This was our most expensive and also the worst hotel in Bali. They are rennovating the place, so it is one workplace and you will hear noise the whole day. Furthemore, things were falling out from the roof on the bed. When we had breakfast, there were ants everywhere on the spoons of the breakfast indonesian buffet. You have sea sight from your room, but you can not swim in the sea or lie on the beach in front of the hotel. For a nice beach you have to travel 10-15 minutes to the beach pantai putih with a transporter or moterbike. Candidasa is very quit and in the evening boring. Better to stay in ubud or near kuta and go on a day trip to see the east of bali.

Dear Mr /Mrs.
However we do appreciate your comments through this tripadvisor in order to lift up our standard of services. But we saw your comment was not proportional as we have so many good comments from other guests who stayed with us here
most of them said that our service is excellent

again however really happy for your input

many thanks

My wife and I have just returned from a week's holiday at the Bali Palms Resort. We had a fantastic, relaxing week. The staff were top notch and the owners and management a lot of fun. The resort is well located and the facilities are good. Would recommend the resort to anyone considering a visit to the East Bali Region. Ron & Pauline, Perth, Western Australia

This Resort is truly a great place to stay. We had a very relaxing time there. The staff were fantastic and very friendly. the units are excellent with full facilities. There is a little building happening but it did not disturb us. the food and beverage service was excellent and prices very reasonable. We will definately stay there again.

Bali Palms is a time share hotel being renamed and renovated (formally Samudra Arirang Hotel). The beach in front of the hotel is horrible with a large drain dumping loads of rubbish straight onto it.

The pool is excellent however with a bar close by.

Although currently being rebuilt, not being completed until Oct 2010, the renovations are being done very cheaply with many short cuts being taken. Rooms are being offered to guests as they are completed, so not many people are staying there. If you stay at this hotel don't eat in the restaurant as you will get cheaper and better food in the restaurants in the main street.

It does have free WiFi internet which for Indonesia is not at a bad speed.

The hotel is at the wrong end of town with much better restaurants and hotels at the other end and you are better off staying else were.
