The staff at the Bayshore were very friendly and efficient. The accomodation was to die for with the decor of the bungalow we stayed in being of very tasteful design which only contributed to the wonderful ambience of our stay. The gardens are superb. The place is so clean, the food good and the views are just like paradise. The infinity pool is a great anti-stress and being absolute beach front you think you have died and gone to heaven!!!! Lots to do here if you like good food, walks and good entertainment in the bars. We will definitely be back..THE BEST VALUE FOR MONEY IN BALI!!!!!

Yes my husband and I have been travelling to Bali for around 20 years and have notched-up around 20 visits - yes some years there were more than one - this year, 3 - decadent!
We first visited Bayshore in July of 2009 and decided we would book for 9 days over Christmas.
We have come home absolutely elated about our stay. It was so good, relaxing, friendly, fun and we met some lovely people who have also decided that Bayshore is the place to be - a large group had come back after experiencing a wonderful Christmas there in 2008.
Our room (two) was all you could ask for - a great bed, comfortable lounge, dining table and chairs, a big fridge (no silly bar fridge at Bayshore) great selection ot TV channels, dvd player and a great semi-outdoor bathroom.
Each morning we leisurely made our way to breakfast, served in their small and friendly restaurant overlooking the bay with views to Nusa Penida - all pretty special. It was always a case of shall we swim or read a book or have another game of bocce on the grassed area that separates six of these modern Balinese styled villas.
I have to say again that we loved our stay at Bayshore..
I would like to make some comments in regard to the previous (not so happy review). I would firstly make comment about the pier...this in fact is a breakwater construction and is one of many that have been built in CD after the disastrous decision was made a number of years back to mine the coral in the area. They are there to control the action of the waves and spend a lot of time under water. Along the shoreline in CD are many of these constructions and I really think it's a case of us being careful of what we do and where we go...Bali is pretty much like that, ie footpaths and roads can be a huge hazard.
As for the swimming and snorkelling. My husband did both of these activities in front of BS and found both to be great - Bali has big issues with rubbish, flotsam and jetsam and unfortunately it's a fact of life. We watched as both Brad and his staff raked, shovelled and cleared away enormous amounts of material that had come down a creek/river close by and deposited itself in front of Bayshore, after a particularly heay downpour the previous night. I believe that all that can done is done, to keep the area as clean as is possible.
The power outages are out of everyone's control. We had three whilst we were there and I think the authorities only advised Bayshore/Candidassa of one. We however enjoyed a silent swim in the pool, candles on our verandah and chats with other guests during those hours, it was not an imposition for us. If they were to install a generator, I have to think what an imposition it would be on those who live nearby. They too have no power and to add to their woes would be the sound of a generator keeping them awake whilst it made the life of those of us privileged enough to be on holiday, (enjoying the air-con, fans and television) a happy one. After living though a cyclone here in the north of Australia and having no power for many days, I know what I wanted to do to those people who had noisy generators going when I tried to sleep in a bath of sweat!!
As for the distance to town - my husband regularly walked the length of the town without any issues (he's nearly 60 and of average fitness). I've even walked into town and I'm somewhat fat and lazy. There are a nunber of good places to eat within 500 metres. I have to go a lot further here in my little town to find somewhere to eat and besides, a number in CD restaurants offer a pick-up and take you home at no cost....it's not an issue.
Candidasa does have a bank and an ATM, but the ATM is still only avalable to locals at this stage, but hopefully it will be for all soon. There's a little post office with a great money changer, a number of small mini-markets and some great restuarants...Toke, Vincents, Friends, Rendezvous to name but a few.
You will love Candidasa and and the even lovelier Bayshore Villas...highly recommended.

We stayed three nights at Bayshore Villas in their villa #1 with large windows facing the sea. The villa was nicely decorated and spacious. We booked the Australian owner/manager Brad. He was very prompt in replying to our questions prior to our arrival. However, I would like to point out some misunderstandings since I often make my own decisions for choosing hotels based on other traveller opinions. First, we asked in a couple of emails whether we could pay by VISA. Each time we asked in the email he carefully skirted around the question without directly answering it. So, please be note that if you choose to stay there then you will have to pay entirely by cash. Second, we think that a sign should be placed near the cement pier to warn guests of a possibly slipery pier. My wife had fallen on the pier. Third, we were slightly scared of the tied up monkey since he bit my wife. Fortunately no blood was drawn. Forth, there are power outages every Wednesday night from 7 pm till 10 pm in the Candi Dasa region. This is apparently due to the Java power company trying to fix a power line. Unfortunately, Bayshore Villas has no generators (But other local hotels/restaurants do) and when the power went out so did the pump and the water faucets, shower, toilet, etc. We were only given flashlights during this time. Fifth, the beach is okay to look at but didn't seem desirable to swim due some garbage in the area. Six, the location is about 1 km from the core of town where restaurants are located. They will pick you up which is nice. At this point in time breakfast is provided and you may purchase lunch items. However, you will need to seek dinner in town since the kitchen is not open during this time.
the area. The positives are the tranquility of villas, infinity pool, staff, and quality of the villas. Brad is a friendly guy but we just felt that there needed to be more transparency. Maybe issue official receipts when you get transport. There was confusion when our arrival was late at airport and we were charged a 28 USD late fee on top of transport. The transport was paid initially but again more confusion in this area. We were charged a 9 USD mini bar fee when I'm quite sure we didn't use it. The odd thing was that a flat 9 USD charge was applied when the items listed used was less than this amount. So, my recommendation to future travellers is to make sure all is itemized with proper receipts so there is no confusion at the end of your stay. I hope there will be a back-up generator if there any future power outages because if you are paying $110 USD a night then maybe there should be some compensation when you can't fully use the facilities.

Wow, this place is stunning. If you check out the other reviews on here, you can believe every word! We had 3 wonderful days here (with 17 year old falling in love with Mr D, the resident monkey). The breakfast here is made to order and a lovely way to start the day! I much prefer this to smorgasbord breakfasts. We paid $139AU per night, which I believe is unbelievable value. The room had a large separate bedroom, and the girls were put in beds in the large living area, but they had their own lovely outdoor ensuite. Although the Bayshore is not a long walk into town, all the restaurants pick you up from your accommodation and drop you back. I could easily spend more time in Candi Dasa and both the girls also loved it! Thanks for your great hospitality Brad!

It has been awhile since our holiday and this is long overdue as a review. We felt so relaxed on our return we are just now thinking it's time to go back. In examining what others have said, Bayshore is magical. Situated in a truly secluded location on the beach without being isolated, just far enough out of the 'town', near at least 8 wonderful, less than 5 min. walking-distance restaurants, (more with a car and half a day to visit at White Sandy Beach) and blissful for pure relaxation. We were celebrating a 25th wedding anniversary and it couldn't have been more perfect. We wanted beauty, tropical surroundings, impeccable decor and superb staff. Not only was all of this provided but Brad and his staff were always available to suggest anything or nothing, depending on our intentions for the day. There could not have been a more idyllic place to have spent our week. Upon our return home, we felt as if we had been away for more than a month.

Sorry to say, this is a belated review, but even sorrier to say I'm still not at Bayshore.
Having spent 8 days in Nusa Dua and 2 days in Ubud, we were looking forward to our stay based on all the good reviews it had received. Its fair to say even the reviews didn't do BV justice.
If anyone is thinking about building their own infinity pool, then they should view BV's pool at the earliest opportunity because that's our idea of what an infinity pool should look like. There's no doubt that Brad is doing his best to create a beach again and it's a good bet he'll be successful because BV is his baby and without doubt it's the bonniest in Bali.
As a host Brad is the King, nothing is too much trouble and you'd be silly not to ask.
Excellent recommendations whether it be a restaurant or places to see, backed up by excellent and hard working staff will only add to your enjoyment.
The bungalows are very roomy with a modern feel, brilliant outdoor shower, spotlessly clean and in keeping with a style that makes you want to stay.
I can understand why some people thought the location was a bit out of the way, but really its just that candi is a bit out of the way and it suited our needs perfectly.
I laughed when our taxi arrived and our driver said 'its looks like its work in progress' referring to some more building work which was taking place, took in a deep breath and thought 'Oh no!'. Don't worry the work will be completed by December and the builders are the quietest, I never heard them. The rolling breakers made more noise, what a sound to wake upto.
And Mr D, If you want to be friends do as he does, if he tries to bite you, bite him back. Once you've won him over you'll have a friend for life.
If we ever return to Bali, it will be back to Ubud and BV.

This would easily be the best holiday accomodation we have experienced anywhere. The rooms were spotless and a highlight was the open air shower. The staff caterered to all our needs and were only to happy to help plan day trips and recommend restaurants in nearby Candi Dasa town ( walking distance ). Our host was awesome!!!!!
Brad made us feel extremely welcomed and I have to say it was like staying with your favourite Uncle and Aunty in their luxury holiday home!!!
