Once again my wife and I stayed at the RBBC Candi Dasa and thoroughly enjoying ourselves. This resort is the place to go for a nice rest, as it is quiet and peaceful most of the time. This time there was a lot of activity outside where the local authorities were building up a rock wall to stop beach corrosion because of recent storm damage. It was very interesting to watch. We love the pool at the resort and spent quite a bit of time in it. The staff are fantastic and really look after you the whole time your are in their care. A definite must visit place in Bali, away from the maddening crowds of Kuta.

Room Tip: We had a studio room this time and it was more than adequate for our needs. It was upstairs and had...

We are a family of 5 (me, my husband, husband's brother and parents-in-laws) who stayed at Royal Bali Beach Club last week - June 2012. We had been allotted 1 double room for the 2 of us and 1 unit with a bedroom+stuido room & kitchenette.
The rooms were comfortable & bathrooms clean. Housekeeping visited 2-3 times a day to clean up BUT didnt provide any drinking water! You are better off buying the 19L Aqua either from the hotel or from the nearby shop (which is slightly cheaper).
We spent 2 full days in the pool and Jacuzzi. The pool wasnt crowded and there were plenty of lounge chairs along the seafront. There is no beach along the resort but a seafront which is gorgeous!
The biggest pain with staying here is the distance. Distance from Ubud the city centre, or Kuta or Nusa Dua. Anything is atleast a 2 hour drive from here which can get very tiring to do everyday. We had fixed up with a cab driver Komang who came with his Innova for 8-12 hours on 3 days. He charged us 450,000 rupaiahs for 8 hours which was very reasonable given we were 5 of us. I thought this was a very good idea since driving in Bali is not really a great pleasure. There is a lot of traffic in the city and difficulty in finding parking space as well. Driving is not the best idea when you can hire a cab with a driver, especially Westerners may find the traffic quite chaotic but coming from India it is not so bad.

Food is quite expensive at the resort. We just had 1 dinner which was Barbecue Night with Balinese dance performance. The food was average and we were honestly surprised to find no prawns or good fish at the Barbecue. We ran a bill of 1.5 Mio rupaiahs with a couple of drinks which was more than any meal we ate even in good restaurants in Candidasa village.
We had many a small meals at the local cafes just outside the resort - Nyoman's cafe and Taman Sari restaurant. These are small joints opened by enterprising locals in their houses. The food is good and great value for money. Do not expect fresh fruit juice but squash when you order juice, but I mean what more can you expect in 30,000 rupaiahs (~3 USD) when you've got Toast, 2 eggs, ham, tomatoes & coffee?
For good meals, call up any restaurants in the Candidasa village (10 mins drive) for booking a table and they will organise pick up and drop! This was a great service provided and hence we ended up trying Vincent's, The Dining (Pizza joint) & Jogolo. Wide range of Indonesian and International dishes are available at all these restaurants and very reasonable prices too.

Most of the trips/ tours organised by the resort are very expensive, you can have the same experience by planning trips on your own. While the resort staff is very sweet and helpful, it gets annoying when they keep trying to sell you the tours.

Finally, the resort has a small Spa (2 beds) which is quite overpriced. Andre's spa just outside on the mail road offers all services at a much lower price. Hence the resort offered a huge discount on the treatments and we ended up ditching Andre's for the K Spa at the resort. The treatments at the Spa were very good and it all turned out just fine!

Overall we had a good stay at the resort coz we were quite happy to be tucked away in a small village in Bali for most days but if you are looking for surfing & partying on all days in Bali, avoid.

Room Tip: The 4 Rooms (2 ground floor and 2 first floor) closest to the pool and seafront have a great view

We stayed for a week in May which is an excellent time to go to Bali. Not too humid with nice afternoon breezes. Our unit was on the ground floor with one bedroom and two bathrooms. A well stocked kitchen with a half size fridge plus a sitting room with TV.

There is no beach to speak off although you could walk along a small beach to the side at low tide. The swimming pool is a good size and very clean.

We really enjoyed the food in the restaurant. We had breakfast there each morning plus a couple of lunches and dinners. They have a barbecue night one evening accompanied by Balinese music and dancing. There is always a daily special on the blackboard and the ones we had were very good.

We tried two of the restaurants in the lane outside and found Nyoman's to be the best. Good food with good service and a very clean little establishment.

We had a 19L bottle of water delivered to our room which lasted us all week for drinks, teeth brushing etc. This only cost Rp 30,000.

The resort offers two free shuttles Mon-Fri to Candidasa at 9 am and 11 am. They return to get you 2 hours later. We took advantage of this to have a look around this small town. There are the usual shops, cafes, bars etc.

We went for dinner at "The Crazy Kangaroo" restaurant one night. Great setting with lovely gardens, good food and service and not very expensive. Can recommend. We also went to "Vincents" restaurant which was a bit of a disappointment. The gardens are great and the service is excellent but the food was not up to par and is also expensive. We would have been better off eating at the RBBC as their food is much better than Vincents.

Overall it was a good week with plenty of time to read and have the occasional swim in the pool.

Redcently used one of our time share weeks ex (Absolute) in thailand for this one. It was very nice, we had a one bedroom unit with a small balcony, but big enough. It was nice not to be in the hussle and bussle of downtown Bali but the there is not much in the small township of Candidasa, so be prepared for very quiet days. Having said that you can always hire a car and driver and go to several great places near by e.g Ubud, white sand beach. The one thing about the hotel is they have a daily programme if you choose, but the prices are very expensive (captive audience) you can do the same tourist things outside of the hotel for a third of the price, so the choice is yours. All in all a very nice stay

We stayed at this hotel in March. Initially we had been allotted 1 bedroom unit for four of us. But on arrival we were pleasantly surprised to get a 2 bedroom unit. The property is next to the sea. The view from the pool is amazing. The rooms were cleaned daily. The kitchen was adequte. The town of Candidasa is very pretty. The italian resturent was a welcome change after trying out local food for few days. The hotel is very far from Kuta area but renting a car would be good option . Our driver Mr. Made Panca was excellent. He spoke good english and showed us around the Kintamani-Ubud district. Would love to stay here again for longer time.

Fantastic hotel directly on the sea shore. Can take short boat trips from the beach for snorkelling in Padang Bai. Advisable not to swim on the shore (not really much of a beach) right opposite the hotel because of coral, but can go about 25 metres to the right, but no lifeguards.
One night there was a beautiful show of Bali dancing and Music. Restaurant , food, room service all fine. Several small restaurants in the small lane in which the hotel is located. There is no nightlife in the vicinity outside the hotel but taxis are cheap and this is more of a place to relax and sightsee during the day.

Room Tip: I think most/ all rooms have a sea view from the balcony
