Great resort, fabulous staff, great food and great location.
But it is 5 kms from Candidasa and you need transport. Actually at Balina Beach. Otherwise most enjoyable.
Had a one bedroom apartment with a kitchen and enjoyed our own inhouse breakfast every day. Bananas were really cheap. Good little shop which sold everything about 5 minute walk away. Local transport also very cheap.

We loved the place since it was away from city n gave the real feel of Bali. The swimming pool was really nice. Staff is too good specifically swati in the restaurant. Good restaurants r 5to7mts away and they provide pick up n drop service. Much better than their Jim ran resort. Andre spa nearby is good.

Room Tip: Take a room near the pool that way u r closer to the sea as well.

We spent 2 weeks here, it was the rainy season and this meant monsoon rain and thunderstorms from as early as lunchtime! so take plenty of DVDs and books. The staff were wonderful BUT the apartments were tired and basic. The in house laundry is not DIY but a daily service; if you do your own smalls there is no line or airer in the apartment.Local restaurants are 2-3 kms away but most will do a collect and return service. We can recommend the Rendezvous for beautiful food, ambiance and service. Our advice is do not plan to drive in Bali as the roads are narrow with100s of scooters and traffic laws are sketchy at best. The hotel supplies you with a car and driver for your stay at reasonable daily rates. We were there for the annual 'day of silence' when you cannot leave the complex, use electric lights etc but the staff did their utmost to make it as easy as possible. Note there are no flights or transfers on that day so you have to go early (Friday) or pay for an extra day and leave on the Sunday

The accommodation is fine and the staff charming, but as you are unlikely to travel to Bali to lie on a sun lounger next to a swimming pool which could be anywhere, the chances are you will start to feel trapped after a few days at Royal Bali Beach Club. The street outside, linking it to the very busy main road, provides some escape and your perception of the "beach" off to the right at the bottom of this street will change dramatically the longer you stay at the resort. Initially it is hugely unattractive, but after a few days of confinement you can start to appreciate it as a microcosm of Bali life. Pick your way through the shingle and general detritus early in the morning or towards sunset and it's a rewarding experience. Among the bamboo houses and fishing boats lining the beach is the small bar at the bottom of the lovely garden belonging to the Abalone Resort. This is a lovely spot to enjoy an early evening drink, perhaps followed by a meal at Nyoman's Cafe, just up the street from Royal Bali. At the resort's welcome meeting the catering manager appeared to be trying to justify their prices by stressing their hygiene, but we had several meals at Nyoman's at half the cost with no ill effects.
Royal Bali's trips are also over-priced, so unless you are prepared to spend the money or risk driving yourself, the only escape is via taxis. They will quote 500,000 rupiahs for an eight-hour day (about £35), but some might come down to 400,000. Don't expect to see too much in a day as the main roads are amazingly busy and the minor ones are often in poor repair. Candidasa is about four miles away but the beach there has been destroyed and the lagoon appears to be neglected rather than treated as an asset. The saving grace are the town's excellent restaurants, notably Vincent's, and they provide free transport for an evening meal. Royal Bali is very nice in itself and the staff are unfailingly friendly and polite, but after a few days entrapment it can become very frustrating because Bali is a beautiful and fascinating place with so much to see.

The Royal Bali Beach Club is located in the remote east end of Bali. It is a rustic little property amidst a typical Bali village on the waterfront.
The exteriors are in need of repairs..the walls had visible moss and cracks….the landscaping is refreshing with water bodies containing fish
From the word go this waterfront was disappointing….In the pictures on the website…it looked as if there was a beautiful beach which we were looking forward to. There is a beach but not where one can swim. There are rocks in the water which is very very rough. Our dream of having the beach was shattered. We had to settle for the pool which was a nice size. There were no pool rules and people went into the pool without having a shower…
The property has one restaurant overlooking the sea..very relaxing to sit and have a drink. The fresh juices were very good but the food left a lot to be desired. Everything tastes the same..whether you u order Continental or Balinese Food.
The free shuttle to the little town Candidasa was a refreshing change with more interesting food outlets such as Watergarden, Lotus and Candidasa Cafe
The staff were by and large very friendly and helpful, but each contact was accompanied by some hard selling for water sports, massage, tour packages or sarongs..
The room was nice and clean, linens changed regularly, but towels did smell a little fishy at times.
Overall a little disappointing but not bad if you are looking for peace and quiet and food is not a priority
