We have just returned from 2 weeks at Heritage Village Club and have mixed reviews. The food was lovely and so were the gardens and staff. Some of the entertainment was excellent ie the nature walk and the African dancers but the entertainment was very loud and it was even too loud in our room which overlooked the pool. We were eventually moved to a room with a garden view which was so much better.
Our main grudge was the towels on the sunbeds by very early morning and people talking about "their" beds. There are notices about the towels but the management didn't enforce this. It was also very crowded around the pool. The garden area was much quieter and we could usually get a sunbed mid morning after a walk or bike ride. The bikes were free but needed servicing but we did borrow them a few times to explore the locality and one day visited a local heritage village[about 4 miles] which was excellent
We used the public transport both the buses and the trains 10 rupees[for an hour and 20 mins] to get to the jeeps for the waterfall.

Room Tip: If you want a quiet room go for a garden room.

We stayed for 6 nights instead of 7 at the end of November 2012. We were delayed by plane problems, which made the holiday very short for such a long flight. Hotel staff were excellent, always busy, moving furniture in/out of the dining room for Gala nights (twice a week), which was a lovely buffet outside. Moving sunbeds etc. Entertainment was fine for a holiday - unless you want a nightclub, very laid back and relaxing. We were on the ground floor near the stage overlooking the grounds/pool. The noise was not a problem from the entertainment and finished early enough not to bother us.
James and his Animation team were excellent, his walk into the local town one morning was brilliant explaining lots about the flora and fauna, local animals etc. Also various activities and interests laid on in the hotel if you want to do them, but not in your face if you do not.
The pool is large and the grounds good, though it is a bit crowded. Despite having notices asking people not to save sunbeds, obviously lots of people cannot read, hence a problem getting two beds together with a mattress. There was also a group of Russians who seemed to block book an area. The second night we were there, the Management invited all the new arrivals to meet them by the pool for drinks and nibbles (which are included anyway) but you can chat, ask questions and if you have any problems let them know. We were told that if we could not get a sunbed, we could ask and they would find one for us. We decided as it was very busy by the pool and quite noisy, that we would go to the beach. The beach is peaceful and beautiful. Get a mat from the gatehouse when you sign out as well as towel from the pool. Hardly anyone on the beach (the shack is allowed to put out 5 sunbeds and you can reserve them for the week/etc as long as you turn up). Beer is very cheap there and the food tasty. We ate there nearly every lunchtime. Views were beautiful, no noise and you can swim in the sea but be careful and don't go deep.
The Mango Restaurant was in a lovely setting, but felt that the food was disappointing, so only went once in the week, despite being able to go twice.
We hired a taxi, from outside the hotel to take us to the waterfalls (we booked it for the day), which was an interesting experience. Masses of people there, need to go in a 4 x 4 with the man in charge taking money and allocating you the 4 x 4. Your taxi will wait for you for when you get back.
Taxis are cheaper than the tours, which seemed rather expensive. If you do your research, look at what the tour companies are offering, you can plan your own trips. We did not have time to take a bus, but apparently it is easy to get into the main big towns and other people hd done it, particularly people returning to the hotel.
I agree with other comments that the rooms are tired looking, but they are clean. Breakfast was ok, though fresh fruit would have been nice. There was a lot of Indian food for breakfast (which did not matter) though you could have eggs, and there were different pastries. It was more varied for the rest of the meals, instead of having lots of Indian dishes which I would have preferred. The evening buffet, both inside and on Gala nights and the snacks during the day (we came back from the beach in time for the afternoon ones), were very tasty. The local drinks were rather sweet (gin and tonic and similar mixers) , so tended to stick to Tuburg beer which tasted fine and a couple of cocktails by the pool at the end of the day. We really could not drink the wine, particularly the red, but for a week, we could live without that and it is not the fault of the hotel!

Would we go back? Most probably yes, but only for one more trip. The staff were so helpful and cheerful, the setting beautiful and peaceful, the service and food good.

Room Tip: First floor bedroom so that you can have curtains open and away from the trees overlooking the pool.

We stayed at the heritage village couldn't fault the staff or the food, very clean the staff all round were very friendly and could not do enough for you, but we stayed in room 310 and the noise from the air condition units from the rooms 500s were very loud at night, rooms 301 -312 need better insulation if they cannot switch off the air con units at night!

Room Tip: Do not stop in rooms 301 - 312 higher floor have less a/c unit noise

We stayed at Heritage for 4 days/3 nights in February 2013. The grounds are kept meticulously – it is quite a paradise in there. So luscious and green. We saw many a beautiful butterfly on the grounds. The pool is of a large size and they keep it very clean and enjoyable to be in. The pool has a swim-up bar which is a nice touch. The hotel keeps it guests well fed. It appeared that everybody was on the all-inclusive package. They ensure that there are snack times between breakfast, lunch and dinner so you never find yourself with an empty belly. Drinks are pretty good too. The hotel staff are very pleasant and accommodating – definitely makes a difference! This hotel is on Arrosim beach in South Goa which is very quiet and secluded. If you’re looking for that – you’re at the right place. There is only beach shack serving food by the hotel and after that, there is nothing else. There aren’t many people on the beach as it is a 2 hour walk from Colva Beach where the hustle/bustle and crowds generally are. While I wished for more of the beach shacks, I did appreciate the serene-ness of the beach and the quiet it provided. In February the water was at a perfect temp. Given all of this, I probably won’t return to Heritage. I wish somebody would have told us that this hotel is really catered towards an older crowd. All of the guests in February were between 50-70 yr olds and all from Europe. The evening entertainment was all older music and having a room by the pool was terrible as the music was incredibly loud and went on every night until 11pm. Our room was nice and clean, however our bathroom smelled of urine – even after a call to housekeeping to clean it. The hot water shower only gave us hot water for about 5 minutes each time. The food was mediocre. Some dishes were good but most were not good – keep in mind that my husband and I are quite the foodies so we expect high quality food. The best they offered was their naan and in the morning their eggs and bacon (albeit the gratuitous amounts of fat). The beach is a quick 5 minute walk away – the hotel NEEDS to fix the bridge. It is old and rickety and guests have to walk over a disgusting wash to get to the beach. The hotel also needs to provide better beach service. The beds out there were old, rusting and nothing I would touch. Umbrellas are faded and dated. There is no food/drink service on the beach. I wish we would have known all of this. I wish the hotel had more to offer its guests in terms of seeing Goa. They only offered a few over-priced excursions and my husband were not impressed. Our best bet each day was to use a cab (which the hotel directed us to use) to see Goa – and yes, the cabs are expensive but we had no other choice. All in all, we won’t return to Heritage. It wasn’t for us, however many of the other guests seemed to love it and have returned each year for many years. I guess it always comes down to personal choice.

Room Tip: Make sure you note that you do not want a room facing the pool otherwise the nightly entertainment w...

We stayed at the Heritage Village over Christmas and the New Year. Couldn't really fault it. Yes it is a bit remote but we knew that before we went and wanted a quiet relaxing holiday. Yes some rooms could do with a bit of updating but they are clean and serviced each day to a good standard. The staff are brilliant. Nothing is too much. The entertainment staff worked very hard but were not pushy. The food in the Mango terrace was fab and the gala nights terrific. The buffet restaurant has choices but are more limited, however there was always something their that we liked. The snacks during the day were great. The walk to the beach is only a few minutes and well worth it. The beach is almost empty and goes on for miles and at the end of the walk there are shacks where you can get a drink and watch the amazing sunsets. I would certainly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: We had a room over looking the pool. The entertainment finished around 11pm so we could see what was...

Returned home with loads of cherishing memories thanks to all the staff at the "Heritage Village Club" (the ‘Club’). It was truly a magical time and enjoyed every moment of our stay at this beautiful resort. Our thanks to Sofia, Nancy, Francis, Ann, Joachim, Ganesh, Vicram and of course my chef Ramesh

From the moment we arrived, the reception was so warm and welcoming, The boys at the bar were so very pleasing, attentive and nothing was too much trouble for them, they keep my husband very hydrated during our time there.

The buffet was lavish, the spreads of salads was so much to choose from. The new evening entertainment was fun with live music every day. Wonderful acts like African dancers and magic show. The Animations team (Steffe) were energetic and always on the move. You must make time to hear Ann (Reception) sing truly amazing.

All in all this had been our best holiday and we will be back next year. We would recommend this hotel to everyone who would want to enjoy a great holiday experience.

Every year I purchase a new piece of jewellery from John and would recommend a visit. If he does not have what you are looking for, he will make you a bespoke piece. It will be our 40th wedding anniversary later this year and I will be commissioning another item on my return next year

My partner and I stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks from the 29th January 2013 on arrival we were showed to our room we booked a double room but were given a twin. The following morning we took this up with Ganesh Prabbu the Front Office Manager he offered us a move to a double room after one day. We were satisfied that the problem was not due to the hotel after Prabbu showed us the Thomson paper work which made no mension of a double room, we decided not take up the offer of a move which would have meant moving our belongings again.

The hotel is kept very clean and the food is very good both Indian and European if I had one critism it would be breakfast which was less varied we both tended to eat omlettes every day. The staff are really friendly and helpful and deal with any problems raised very quick. The beach is only a short walk from the hotel and is clean has a few nice shacks that we enjoyed a drink at during the hottest part of the day because of the gentle breeze.

The only downside was some selfish holidaymakers continually reserving sunbeds a large number taking towels upto their rooms after house cleaning had done their rooms so they could put them back out early morning. This was clearly against the hotel policy I raised this with the management they said it was an ongoing problem and understood my complaint. I felt more action should be taken to stop these selfish people flaunting the hotel policy. I was offered a bottle of wine by Mr Ganesh as gesture which I rejected my preference being for the hotel to enforce the rules. This is the only reason I did not give 5 rating The staff were really good in particular Ganesh Prabbu and a waiter called Wayne.
