“A perfect stay!”

The concierge impressed me even before the trip started. We were booked on a "Romance Package" and had also request for a crib for an infant during our online reservation. 15 days before the trip they called up to confirm if there had been a mistake as the package included spa treatment which would require the infant to be left alone. However we confirmed that we have booked 2 rooms and since we were 2 families travelling together it would be alright. The attention to such small details was impressive indeed.

Our flight was re-scheduled due to runway closure at Goa and when reached Goa we learnt that the airline had left 2 of our checked-in baggage in Mumbai which were supposed to be coming on the next flight. The concierge at the airport volunteered to pick-up the baggage and they got delivered just 2 hours after our arrival the hotel.

As we had an infant with us the gave a room which was closest to the village square where all the restaurants are located. The spa was simply outstanding. The check-out was equally smooth. Had an extremely presant stay overall.

Is a beautiful property with amazing grounds. The gardens, plants, birds etc are soberb!
The rooms very goods also the breakfast.The pool is gorgeous and very clean.
The beach is so bautiful!
Not so good the staff, very profissional but not friendly and the SPA very expensive.

Excellent property with grand rooms and beautiful landscape. Room balcony offers garden view with neat lawns and a canal crisscrossing the garden. A short walk through the garden and you reach the beach. Service is excellent and food is great. It's expensive but worth the money.

This is by far the best hotel in India. very expensive and the bill shocked me a little, but totally worth it. The food, Staff Stay everything was outstanding. Try stay in the pool side rooms. I went their for my birthday with my GF and it was a great overall experience do not have a single complaint

Before I get onto the hotel, I thought the cost and hassle of the tourist visa to India is worth mentioning. £80 per British passport regardless of age.
There is 1 online form per passport that takes about 30minutes per person to fill in, then print out and bring to the visa office. The arrival and departure forms also need a lot of filling in! 

The good things: 
The photos online do not do justice to this place. It is a beautiful resort, both inside the hotel rooms and everywhere we ventured in the generous grounds.

Beautiful plants, trees, birds and butterflies everywhere you look, and the pools were great. 

Previous comments on here about problems with sunbed availability were not evident during our stay. 

The breakfast buffet was hard to fault, and the choices for lunch and dinner were not bad either. The food at the premium restaurant by the beach was essentially the same as the food in the village square outlets, spruced up a bit, albeit with a most beautiful view. We didn't think it was worth the price tag @ $150 for 2.

Now for the not so good things:

The Hotel would not confirm baby cots reservations prior to arrival so we had to bring our own, using up a lot of our luggage space.

The Hotel did not answer email and telephone requests for child car seats for airport transfers.

When we arrived at the airport at 5am, the hotel transfer that had been confirmed in writing and on the phone was nowhere to be seen, even though they knew we were travelling overnight with 2 babies. We had to catch a local taxi. The hotel did refund this taxi ride and were very apologetic, but not a good first impression.

The service at the hotel food outlets and by the pool was overbearing to the point where we did not look forward to eating our meals!

On day 4 of our holiday we decided we would count the number of times staff approached our table at breakfast. A bit for fun, and a but to see were we imagining the service being totally over the top.

Within 5 minutes of sitting down we had been approached 17 times.

I am not joking. That is almost 1 person every 20 seconds.

And few of them were doing anything actually related to waiting tables. We were bombarded constantly with questions, some relevant to our breakfast, most not, but all repeated too many times by too many different staff. 1 waiter per table is plenty.

Even more annoying was the staff thinking that it is acceptable to offer our eldest child (not yet 2) if she wanted chocolate, juice and other food treats and "goodies", almost continually throughout the day. This caused numerous tears when we had to say no to items. Since when should waiting staff decide what our children should eat and drink?! 

The staff would also stand by our table or our sun loungers and just stare. We appreciate that western kids will get attention out and about in India and Asia, but we expected better of a 5 star resort. Staff also asked to photograph our children, definitely not 5 star service.

We had mixed experiences at the spa: 1 good and 1 very poor.

I see from other review responses that the $70 per week for wifi "is in line with other 5* resorts in Goa". It is still a ripoff!

My wife and I took our 6&9 yr old daughters for 2 weeks over easter.
The hotel location is fantastic, pool wonderful and gardens well maintained.
Very kid friendly.
The breakfasts were great and most staff were brilliant ( a special mention to Santosh, Laxman, Merillilyn and Sanjay, who were brilliant).
But several other, smaller things let the side down.
Too expensive.
A wifi password is £50 per week. A steak £60.
The food was ok, but often served cold or cool. If 4 of you ordered the food would come out at different times or, as mentioned cold for one or more.
We had light fittings missing in the room and toilet sounded on its last legs, very loud, we asked room attendant 2x and reception 3x if they old sort out. Never did. Not really good enough for a 5*.
Go down to the beach huts at the bottom meal is £20. We liked Aaron's bar (middle one), brilliant with the kids. Avoid one on left (as you look at the beach) unless after you have finished the meal you want the waiter to fill your table with things "his family back home have made" and then take 20 mins to remove if you don't want anything!
However beware of certain very rude people, both from uk and India who feel they are superior to the staff. Some were obnoxious and the use colourful language directed at staff around the pool. Not good for children. Lots of aggressive complaining by younger groups of Brits over for weddings (presumably to try and reduce their bills!!) took the shine off the pool and we went exploring when they were holding court. They should have been thrown out.
A good hotel is there, just need to sort out the smaller points.
Good, but not 5*.

In fact it was so good that we cancelled our two nights at the end of our trip to go back!

Everything about this place is fantastic; from the rooms, the service, views, swimming pool and not to mention the best breakfasts I have ever had. There is no doubt that this hotel is 5*

The grounds are beautiful and the sunsets stunning (especially with a cocktail in hand at Palms). Even from the top swimming pool, relaxing on a sun lounger you are still able to stare out to sea. I had a treatment at the spa and was very impressed with the results and the treatment rooms, which are very relaxing.

The staff and the service is what made this place so special though. On both occasions we arrived to check into the hotel at 4am. We were welcomed, offer cold flannels, refreshing juices and croissants. We were also shown to our rooms within 30 minutes, which we were not expecting as we had not told them we would be arriving that early. When we were checking out, we were travelling on inland but first spending the day in Panaji. With no where at the bus station to leave our luggage staff arranged for us to be able to go to the Grand Hyatt (closer to the bus station) to leave our luggage during the day. It is this level of service that made it such a special and memorable trip.

If I was being picky, the only negatives were that the internet connection was at times slow (also expensive) and to eat and drink on the resort was more expensive that eating elsewhere. Although, the food and service provided far surpassed any where else we went out to.

The Park Hyatt gave us a holiday I will never forget. We will definitely be returning!
