Resorte Marinha Dourada

Just back from the Marinha Dourada, could not fault this hotel nice rooms cleaned daily, the grounds of the hotel are lovely right by the lake great for a early morning walk. If you enjoy fishing then this hotel is for you many people relaxing fishing by the lake.
There are a few restaurants close to the hotel or you can get a taxi just outside if you fancy going into Baga. we found the staff really helpful and met some lovely people who had been returning to this hotel year after year.
The breakfast was fine plenty to choose from, if you want to go the beach the hotel has a shuttle bus that leaves on the hour.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 124 on the first floor by the pool nice room, good location.

Pros :
The resort is located some 1.5 km from baga beach. Unlike other hotels in this area, it is very quiet and peaceful. Rooms were clean and ok. The two lakes in the resort provide good views from the balconies. Breakfast was reasonably good

Cons:
Most of the rooms are very far from the entrance and need a good distance walk. It was almost 1 km in our case. No wireless internet in the room (it is provided only in the lobby ). Occasional power cuts. No elevator for rooms in 2nd floor.

Breakfast was in an aircraft hanger (it looked like one) there wasn't anything that could be seen as looking like breakfast and when i decided a coffee would be a better option the clean cups were all stained and dirty! We ended up buying a kettle, cups and coffee so that we could have a drink. The rooms are VERY basic and the bathroom had mould growing everywhere, the bed was that hard it would of been just as comfy on the concrete floor, The air con was blowing out a terrible smell, that was when it worked with all the daily power cuts, The staff wanted tipping even when they were just going about their daily jobs. It should be renamed a hotel for the 60/80 club as the average age of the guests were 70 and the majority from yorkshire! It was like something out of the film cacoon, where the oldies go for a couple of months to regernerate themselves. The worst of holidays never ever again!!!!!!!!!!!

Room Tip: Take a room that overlooks the lake as it is quieter.

lovely hotel - big rooms, air con which works, friendly staff , popular with british. only downside is there is not much in the immediate locality , just a couple of bars, and a money exchange. it takes about 20 mins to walk to the nearest village apora, which has more shops and bars, but limited and not a beach resort. Baga is 4o mins walk - a long time in the heat and a road were you are jumping out of the way of cars and cows ! A taxi rank is on the door stop of the hotel , but it adds to the cost of the holiday . free shuttle does not run at night and there is normally a big cue to the 5 o clock shuttle

check out adjuna beach - the sun set bar, and next to it, janet and johns which has fab live music tues and thurs, appox 350 rupees in a taxi -well worth it. feels more what goa is about than bagga.

Room Tip: ask for a lower floor room if you dont like stairs - there is no lift all rooms seem to be of simil...

The hotel is conveniently located near Baga (about 5 mins drive), surrounded by lakes.. Rooms are big and spacious. While choosing rooms, take the lake view ones. Food is disappointing incl. breakfast. Hotel provides drop/ pickup to Baga every hour.
Stay for the property.. for food you can always go to Brittos or Infantaria.

Room Tip: They have more than 200 rooms.. Prefer lake view room ... Pool side isn't exciting..

This was our first visit to Goa and our 3week stay at this hotel was a great place to unwind Situated in a beautiful location overlooking the two lakes the hotel offers peace and tranquility for those who prefer to be away from the bustle of towns, beach's and city's but is within easy reach of the famous beach's Baga,Calangute and others
The rooms are big and clean, most need updating but the views make up for this .The staff are all very friendly and the room boys do a great job
The hotel provides a regular shuttle service to Baga beach and there is a bus service to Calangute (cost 5 rupees)there are also numourous taxis available
The village of Arpora has many good local places to eat and we tried a number of different ones .Recommended for seafood are Crazy Crabs and Green Goa but everywhere we ate was good
Every Saturday there is a night market held just a couple of hundred yards from the Hotel . Other markets worth a visit are Mapsa and Agora
We met with loads of people who had made several visits to this hotel over the years all of whom confirmed our thoughts that this is one of the better hotels in the area and we would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to people visiting Goa for the first time
