We returned to the Lagoa Azul for the fourth year and found that some of the standards had slipped. Every afternoon when returning from the beach we found the the cleaner had been in and removed our dirty towels from the day before, but then had not replaced them, so every day had to ring housekeeping to get them replaced. It's really simple if you take away then replace. The restaurant was very disappointing, all the usual staff had left from the previous years and the replacements didn't understand much english and the food orders were always wrong and most of the time the food was cold or came up in bits and pieces. As it turned out all the regular restaurants maintained their usual high standards. Sebastians was brilliant, the food that comes out of the kitchen is amazing, always hot and very tasty. The taxi prices had risen since last year and could not see a valid reason for the rise, so we will not return to this hotel again next year, it put our holiday expenses ott. This is unfortunate as it is in an extremely pretty location.

We returned from our 2nd year at the Lagoa Azul on the 11th Feb 2012 - I had emailed in advance to ask for the same room as last year and I was over the moon to have got it.. Room 714, massive bed.. large room and view of the big pool - throughly enjoyed our holiday again but need to go for 21 nights next year as 14 is just not enough - The only thing is the obsession wiht the minibar.. every night someone comes knocking asking you to sign the form if you had a beer or water.. next year I am going to stock up th fridge myself and not use their minibar so this problem will be solved... Got the holiday blues roll on Jan 2013 x

We stayed at this hotel, albeit booked later than usual, and the only good thing were the staff at breakfast & in the bar (Mario). This is too far out from the beach & reception staff & bus driver DO NOT understand english. we enjoy walking to the beach & did so last year for two weeks at another hotel where the bus turned up EVERY NIGHT regardless. Unfotunately, the same cannot be said for this hotel. We were told that we had to catch the bus in the morning (at 10am) to book it to come back at night. When questioning the reception staff, they said they would book for us.... Guess what, we had to pay for three taxis on consequetive nights... They didn't even offer a refund to us. The best thing was the room & them changing us from a twin room to a double on the second day.
What we took away was some good outside restaurants nearby (Nicks Place, Spice Oven, You & Me, Honeys [for breaky). The best meal is always Jamie's in Baga. Pay the extra & go all out for the fillet steak & taxi!!!!
We returned to our favourite shack on the beach (PAPAI FISHERMAN) with the fantastic Willy as the chef whetting our pallets for a return (hopefully) again this Xmas too. Shame that the illegal bars & fighting caused the police to be vigilant for our last 3 days, but hey-ho you're in Goa, go with the flow.....
Woudl i recommend this hotel to anyone, not really, unless you don;t like sand & wanna stay around the pool...........

Room Tip: get a room to the back of reception - these are better

Just returned from Lagoa Azul, had a wonderful holiday but must admit Baga area is not as good as it was and neither was Lagoa Azul. We went in March last year the restaurant was one of the things that made the hotel but unfortunately nearly all of the staff have left and there is not such a good service. The food is just as good but breakfast was a chore with only 1 toaster working for most of the 3 weeks we were there and as you have to put the bread through about 3 times it takes a while. Cannot fault the room boys they did a lovely job on the room were always helpful and cheerful. Lot of repairs need doing round the hotel a hydrant was dripping water outside our room for most of the time and there was a strong smell of drains in the evening.

It was hopeless trying to get a drink at the bar most of the time but especially after about 9.30pm. There was just no atmosphere in the bar area which was a real shame as this hotel is in a lovely position with wonderful views and wildlife all around.

We were pleased to see they had taken notice of our complaint last year about the safety deposit boxes and these have all been renewed.

One thing to be aware of if you have a late flight home you have to vacate the room by 11am and there can be a problem finding somewehere to have a rest and shower during the lead up to leaving the hotel.

Just back after two weeks at the Lagoa Azul, a fairly short review here.

Room excellent, large, and really clean. A good cable TV system is provided with three English language movie channels.
Hot water and power supply reliability somewhat variable – but this is India, no big problem.
Food - good quality and a decent menu.
Staff attentive, all very helpful and friendly.
There are two decent sized swimming pools, and the atmosphere is quiet rather than lively.
Twice a week there's a little evening entertainment from a singer.
One tip – take an alarm clock – the early morning call system does not work here, I reckon the guy who has to do it often falls asleep!

The most important big plus factor for me about this hotel is its location.
It’s at the end of a really quiet country road in Arpora, far away from the giant rubbish tips, noisy, beach crowds and hassle, thousands of crazy tourists riding motorbikes dangerously, and all the other horrible things usually associated with North Goa.
The hotel runs a regular (free of charge) shuttle to the coast if you want it, and there are half a dozen good restaurants within just about five minutes walk from the hotel.
(Including Spice Oven – an excellent place!)

And it’s wonderful on a hot sunny afternoon to sit on the hotel raised public terrace, near one of the pools (and bar), looking out over the local lake and watching the birdlife of Arpora.

A great holiday – I got home and tried to immediately book again for winter 2012/2013.
I was really disappointed to find that Thomson, First Choice, Thomas Cook, and Cosmos no longer will offer this hotel!
I’ve no idea why, I found it excellent.
Hopefully instead I’ll be able to do an independent booking for next year.
