We recently stayed at this hotel as a base for a birdwatching trip to Goa. We chose it because of the location on Baga Hill, which is an excellent birdwatching site and also because of the proximity to Baga fields, the lagoons and saltpans nearby. We were given a room (1038)overlooking the saltpans as requested and this proved to be excellent with views out over the jungle and water. We saw over 100 different species of birds from our balcony. We also saw flying foxes going in to roost every night in a tree in the hotel grounds.
We found the hotel to be very comfortable and clean throughout our stay and the staff to be exceptionally helpful and friendly, in particular Pappu, Avi, Volita and Sadi who made our stay really memorable. This hotel has everything you could want for a stay in India. The room we had was a suite with a living area and a bedroom. We were given free beer and soft drinks in the fridge when we arrived and Sadi did the most beautiful towel sculptures for us every day. The hotel has several dining options. We used the Sunflower for a buffet breakfast (full English) with a range of items to eat and the Hibiscus for lunch and dinner (buffet) My husband cannot eat spicy food or curry so this had a good variety of Indian and continental for us to browse every day. We always found a good choice to tempt us e.g. pasta dishes, salads, various potato dishes and some English dishes such as shepherds pie, beef casserole etc. The soup was really delicious too.
I know some people preferred the al a carte restaurant but we were quite happy to use the buffet. Being all inclusive meant we could always get a wine ,fruit juice or beer with our food and we used the bar in the evenings too. They even had the Tottenham match on one night via Sky sports.
All inclusive was a good option for us because we didn't have to bother finding somewhere to eat locally ( there are a lot of places to eat in Arpora and Baga ). We got up early to climb the hill or walk the fields watching the birds, came back for breakfast, walked up to the top lawn to bird watch until it became too hot then chilled in the pool or on the balcony until lunch. In the evenings we went out again to the best areas such as Arpora woods and when it was dark came back to the hotel for a drink and dinner...... magic
The staff at this hotel work hard and are very motivated to make your holiday a success. They helped with every query and request willingly. The manager had a long chat with me about our stay and how successful it had been. He is genuinely concerned about customer satisfaction which I found refreshing. The holiday exceeded our expectations and I would certainly return to this hotel for another holiday.
We did a couple of excursions , a one day trip to a spice plantation with Said who was a brilliant guide. This took in a temple, a mosque and a church as well as the spice plantation which had elephant rides , elephant feeding and being showered by an elephant as well as a tour of the spice plants. The other was a trip down the river Zuari with Michael who showed us crocodiles and monkeys as well as birds - fantastic! Both these trips included a buffet Goan lunch.
We took the free shuttle taxi from the hotel once to see Baga beach and that was interesting too.
we were 100% satisfied with our holiday!

Room Tip: Superior rooms have a view of the salt pans and lagoons or pool. Obviously being birdwatchers we wan...

I've recently returned from my 7th holiday to this hotel and once again it's been brilliant.
The staff are wonderful and can't do enough for you. The managers spoke to us every day which is most unusual in hotels, you feel so welcome.
The main thing I would complain about is the entertainment it should be a lot better.
Thomas Cook have taken over the monday gala night and although it's for a good cause it's a bit boring the same thing every week and exactly the same as last year. Some of the guests who were there for 3 or 4 weeks went out to eat as they were fed up of it, it's a shame as the hotel go to so much trouble for the gala nights.
We enjoyed the food and could always find something we liked.
Too many staff to thank individually but you are all very special and once again a great big thank you to Pappu he's a star and looked after us so well.
We had a full body massage it was literally top to toe and was excellent I would recommend it to anyone visiting Sun Village, after the massage we had a sauna and shower they even provided shampoo and body was.

Room Tip: Ask for a pool view it's lovely to look out on

We had booked this hotel at the last moment as our reservation in the other hotel got cancelled as their launch date postponed. Not much reviews were available for this hotel we had kept our expectation minimal but all in all it is a good hotel for the price we paid. Overall experience was good. Being a vegetarian food options (room service) was very limited but whatever they had it was good. Buffet breakfast for good enough. If you are travelling by your car parking is a problem as they have very limited parking space.

Hi Everyone,

We booked this hotel seeing mixed reviews on TripAdvisor.com and Hotels.com; We thought it would be a decent property since Pride group has very good hotels in other parts of the country.

We booked 4 rooms with them. First two room were for my cousin brother and my brother in law who checked in at 27th of December; third room was for myself and i had to check in at 28th December and fourth room was for my elder brother who had to check in at 29th December.

We thought it would be a good idea to celebrate New Years holiday season in Goa together and we will get some quality family time. I actually made the plan, pushed everyone to make this trip happen, finalized the hotels and did all the bookings. We all had work commitments and air fare was touching sky, so we decided to reach goa as per convenience.

We got two rooms on 27th December. The check in process was fine but the rooms were disaster. But we thoughts its New Years and it would be tough to find room else where so lets stick with it.

Next day when I reached Goa they said " Sorry Sir we are over booked and we don't have a room for you. Please note our bookings were confirmed pre-paid bookings. Neither they had room for 29th December as my brother was about to check in.

The hotel handled this situation really badly. They did not had any one senior at the reception to take care of it. Only 2 females junior who couldn't speak proper English or Hindi.

We have purchased day passes for Sunburn which costed us Rs. 4500 per person. We missed our event as we were trying to sort out our hotel. In evening I was able to meet with Mr Ratnakar. He understood our positions and confirmed that there were no rooms as they are over booked but since we were cooperating with them he mentioned he can talk to the director and get the matter resolved by refunding us. Which we agreed since we did not wanted to live separately and also the 2 allotted rooms were not worth the price at all. Then we moved on and searched a new hotel for our holiday, Imagine hunting for hotel in Goa during New Year Holiday season. We had to chase Mr Ratnakar who had to chase hotel management to give refund to us. It took 3 days for them to confirm cancellation and give our money back after regular chase. I thank Mr Ratnakar for understanding our situation and helping us out as we were with our family.

Honestly in 3 days we saw multiple would be guest shouting as they were not able to get their rooms.

One more thing to add - the hotel property is really old, without any lifts, the buffet break fast which was severed was of very poor quality.

They really need to pull up their socks and get their act together if they need to run and win loyal customers.

Please DO NOT book this hotel for your family holiday. It is better you reschedule your dates and get a different property. But don't stay here.

Thanks
Rohit
