We had two unforgettable pleasant weeks at Majeka House in Stellenbosch with outstanding service by very friendly staff and fine dining. After the first couple of days we realised why Majeka House is located in Paradyskloof.A real paradise with everything what we got,saw and experienced up to perfection. The excellent coffee from the machine in our large , splendid decorated and quitly situated room was very much appreciated. In spite of the sometimes rainy weather we enjoyed very much the large indoor swimmingpool and the sauna and other SPA facilities.Whenever we come back to South Africa we know where we will stay.Robert and Ursila Mulder, Kapellen, Belgium

We booked a B&B room for £60 and got a free upgrade to a room in the hotel. The room we had was fantasic. Spacious, great bed, top spec interiors, great bathroon. We also had a balcony.
Set in a private area, it was a peaceful, relaxing spot with great pool and gardens.
Cant comment on the B&B rooms, but the hotel was superb.

Visit JC Le Roux for champagne and sorbet tasting.

The retaurant at Spier (Moy) is a good experience, maybe worth a trip, food quite good.

We rented what is described as the villa at Majeka House; two bedrooms, living room, dining room and kitchen. Travelling with 3 children between 10 and 3 this offered the perfect stay for us. We were able to enjoy the fantastic service offered at Majeka and at the same time we were able to enjoy our own pool, and the privacy in the villa. The bedrooms were huge with en-suite bathrooms; one even had a walk-in closet. We have nothing but good things to say about Majeka House and would recommend anyone going to Stellenbosch to stay here.

It is never a good thing when a guest leaves your establishment unhappy and we do at all times attempt to avoid this.
In this instance what the guest does not say is that with regard to the airconditioner we immediately offered to move him to another room which he refused.
We were unaware that there was a problem with the wi-fi in his room as no other guests or staff had a problem connecting - he never let us know so we could not help him. It may have been as simple as resetting the system and if more complicated we would have got our experts in to sort it out.

Stayed for our first two nights in SA. Room wasn't ready but we did arrive a few hours before the appointed time and it was 2nd January just after they had a very busy weekend at the place. Wasn't a problem, we went into town for lunch and when we came back everything was ready. The room was lovely, clean, spacious, with access to it's own quiet pool. There was also the main pool area which was covered, great for kids to keep them from burning under the sun! The bed was very comfortable.

All the staff were very pleasant and couldn't do enough for us. They ordered us a taxi to get to Rust en Vrede, had our laundry done and delivered back within hours, provided us with maps and recommendations for visits along the wine route.

The breakfasts were excellent, as was the service. We also eat in the restaurant on our second night and the food was excellent again so was the service. My wife suffers from Coeliacs disease and is gluten intollerent. The staff liased with the chef to ensure that she didn't get anything containing wheat flour, we really enjoyed our meal.

Overall we had a fantastic experience staying at Majeka House, I can't understand the reviews from 'Yazzz' and 'BirminghamBiddy' when you compare them to all the other reviews and our experience!

We absolutely loved Majeka House. My husband and I needed to get away and relax for a few days and we were recommended Majeka House. What a fantastic place, the facilities are awesome, the rooms gorgeous and the service so friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back as it is not often you stay at a hotel and do not leave the premises to explore other areas.

We chose Majeka for its convenient location and internet access, unfortunately it did not offer more. I must say I was very impressed by the previous reviews and expected so much more...
Housekeeping needs to be improved (floors were so dusty I was afraid something would fall under the bed), staff is friendly but service is very slow - very slow! Breakfast should include healthier options, at least low-fat milk.
It is a new facility and I don't think Majeka would go very far with its current management.

I visited Majeka House a week and a half ago - i will be staying there with my family and friends during my wedding next month. It was simply stunning. The pictures on the web dont lie. It is a beautiful, picturesque hotel. Not sure if the previous reviewer stayed at the same place. I would recommend it highly and definitely post another review and pictures after my stay next month, and encourage other friends who will be staying there to write a review. Well done and keep up the good work.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Owner-managed and blissfully private, Majeka House is an ideal base from which to explore the historical town of Stellenbosch with its interesting shops, galleries, museums, and alfresco café culture. Numerous famous vineyards and award-winning restaurants, dotted along the Stellenbosch wine route, are within striking distance. This prime location combines with luxurious accommodation, thoughtful service, a sophisticated bar and restaurant, a professionally run spa and spacious grounds to create what is undoubtedly one of the most stylish boltholes in the Cape Winelands. After extensive renovations and a designer makeover in 2011, Majeka House now boasts 22 rooms and sophisticated yet witty interiors. There are two new luxury mountain suites above the main hotel with large mountain-view balconies, and three new junior garden suites overlooking a shared, exclusive-use pool area. And, while the entire hotel is ‘parent friendly’, there’s also a fully self- contained villa – set apart from the main hotel and with a large private pool and garden – that is designed specifically with families in mind. The new suites were all conceptualised and decorated by interior design wunderkind Etienne Hanekom, who is also responsible for the award-winning interiors of Makaron Restaurant, the lobby and bar. They capture a sense of drama with boldcolours, rich textures and eye-catching custom-designed wallpapers but are also comfortable, inviting spaces for complete rest and relaxation. All contain thoughtful extras, such as comfy Crocs instead of hotel slippers, a Lavazza espresso machine, Wi-Fi internet and a DVD player with a wide choice of movies. The spacious and cleverly designed en suite bathrooms are fragrant with local toiletries made with indigenous plant extracts. In Makaron Restaurant, a stylish, contemporary interior using a clever mix of repurposed and recycled furniture complemented by modern statement pieces has been created. The result is a visually stimulating space that offers extreme comfort and encourages complete immersion in the dining experience. The overall effect is an understated feeling of luxury.Airy and light, the restaurant overlooks lush gardens and leads onto a sheltered terrace for alfresco dining. It is in this stimulating setting that resident chef Tanja Kruger presents her menu of fresh, modern cuisine grounded in the French classics. ... more   less
