What struck me most about Majeka Guest house were the roses. Roses are in bloom everywhere, from the indoor heated pool to the spacious rooms your view is lined with roses. A comfy bar area is full of quirky and humurous decor, the menu at the restaurant is also delightful - Cauliflower royale, sweet corn veloute, popcorn powder, popped wild rice and truffle caviar was one of the dishes. I loved my stay there and had a fabulous and restful time at the Spa. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with the bath and shower overlooking the rose garden

Dear Robyn,
Thank you for your kind comments and we look forward to welcoming you back to Majeka House in the future - we are just down the road from you after all.
Yes we love roses and are extremely proud of the this year. We are always looking for more space to plant a few more roses. We try to have the garden looking good and have fresh flowers from the garden in the reception, restaurant and guest rooms whenever possible.

The majeka house is a very nice hotel not far from the center in a residential area of Stellenbosch. Very quiet, safe and with a very nice garden surrounding the swimming pool. People are very nice but still far away from a 4 stars hotel. It is not very clean and many details are not at level, like for example the plastic doors. The restaurant is quite good, breakfast is very reach. The spa is nice but people working there not very experienced.

The owner Karine a great job Of creating an excellent small hotel in Stellenbosch. Great food, a trendy bar and superb rooms!
In my 5 years of doing golftrips to SA, this was the first time that guests said they would stay in the hotel on their free day and not do sightseeing!

This Boutique Spa is absolutely fabulous, we had a fantastic three night stay on a Spa Treatments inclusive package. First of all the booking experience was very slick and proffesional. The accomodation is five star plus, luxurious and comfortable. The Dining Experience is outstanding with Michelin Class food and service, the Breakfasts are something to look forward to. The Spa treatments were divine the very best we have ever had. It adds up to an experience not to be missed, made even better by the first class service and staff. We will definitely go back soon. Dear Majeka House Team,
february 2012 we took another try to fly to South Africa. This time all the circumstances worked out for us. We closed our restaurant for two weeks in winter holiday and flew direction summer & sun & fun. We planned each stay in different hotel, different place and most important were the fabulous restaurants. It was just a nice coincidence, finding your place. Finally arriving we were going to check in, I was waiting in the car as my boyfriend came back telling me there was a problem with booking, so we had to look for different place. At that moment I wanted to cry, so much I liked it already. Of course he was joking, and we checked in. We liked our room, spacious, with nice garden, cool and very comfortable. The only thing that bothered us, was the wooden shower, that looked a little dirty and smelly. Well we should have said something. Coming back from bad experience Tokara restaurant, on saturday morning we decided to stay another night on sunday, so we could enjoy Macaron, and even spa treatments on monday for my fiance, who deserved this after working hard the whole year. His hands were never so smooth and silky before. You know, we are already counting the weeks until our next stay from 4th of february 2013. Martina and stephan from Dresden are looking forward to feel at home, than everybody working at Majeka let us feel at home.

A heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Majeka House for making sure our visit was pure perfection. From the moment we arrived we were greeted by friendly professional staff, check in was handled very efficiently and we were promptly shown to our stunning accommodation. Beautifully furnished, spotlessly clean, warm and inviting and with a touch for the details which makes you realize the 5 stars they advertise was 100% earned! We opted for a light dinner (fabulous!) in the M-Lounge and were waited on again by very friendly helpful staff, ensuring we were comfortable in front of the roaring fire with a lovely atmosphere created by the perfect choice of music. We were in no rush to leave the opulent surroundings but needed some rest, so returned to our rooms where the turn down service was done beautifully, once again making the details count! Breakfast was a whole experience on its own with a fantastic selection that will suit I am sure, even the fussiest of visitors! I would not hesitate one moment to recommend Majeka House to friends or family! In fact I look forward to returning soon.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Owner-managed and blissfully private, Majeka House is an ideal base from which to explore the historical town of Stellenbosch with its interesting shops, galleries, museums, and alfresco café culture. Numerous famous vineyards and award-winning restaurants, dotted along the Stellenbosch wine route, are within striking distance. This prime location combines with luxurious accommodation, thoughtful service, a sophisticated bar and restaurant, a professionally run spa and spacious grounds to create what is undoubtedly one of the most stylish boltholes in the Cape Winelands. After extensive renovations and a designer makeover in 2011, Majeka House now boasts 22 rooms and sophisticated yet witty interiors. There are two new luxury mountain suites above the main hotel with large mountain-view balconies, and three new junior garden suites overlooking a shared, exclusive-use pool area. And, while the entire hotel is ‘parent friendly’, there’s also a fully self- contained villa – set apart from the main hotel and with a large private pool and garden – that is designed specifically with families in mind. The new suites were all conceptualised and decorated by interior design wunderkind Etienne Hanekom, who is also responsible for the award-winning interiors of Makaron Restaurant, the lobby and bar. They capture a sense of drama with boldcolours, rich textures and eye-catching custom-designed wallpapers but are also comfortable, inviting spaces for complete rest and relaxation. All contain thoughtful extras, such as comfy Crocs instead of hotel slippers, a Lavazza espresso machine, Wi-Fi internet and a DVD player with a wide choice of movies. The spacious and cleverly designed en suite bathrooms are fragrant with local toiletries made with indigenous plant extracts. In Makaron Restaurant, a stylish, contemporary interior using a clever mix of repurposed and recycled furniture complemented by modern statement pieces has been created. The result is a visually stimulating space that offers extreme comfort and encourages complete immersion in the dining experience. The overall effect is an understated feeling of luxury.Airy and light, the restaurant overlooks lush gardens and leads onto a sheltered terrace for alfresco dining. It is in this stimulating setting that resident chef Tanja Kruger presents her menu of fresh, modern cuisine grounded in the French classics. ... more   less
