We stayed in the pool suite and it was lovely. The room is decorated very tastefully. The service was impeccable, efficient and friendly. The dining experience at Makaron was very nice but the breakfast really wins it all!!!
We will definitely consider going back to Majeka House for a special occasion or may be just when we feel like a bit of pampering.

First hand ...this is an an immaculate property, the decor, food, service all excellent!!!! a few hiccups when we checked in, an opened wine bottle in the fridge, no ashtray once confirmed there was one on the porch and a broken TV but the negatives do not come close to the properties positives. All the issues mentioned above were handled swiftly and in the most professional manner by Jennifer ..she offered magnificent service to ensure that we were comfortable. The decor is absoloutely fantastic along with the taste explosion in the restaurant. One night is not enough to explore what the his hotel has to offer ...Definitely a memorable experience and would love to return very very soon.

We recently had the opportunity to visit Majeka House and were not disappointed. In fact, you do not 'visit' Majeka House, you experience it - and what an exceptional experience.

The rooms are immaculate and careful attention has been given throughout. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the dining experience was at a level that would rival some of the finest hotels in the world. Our dinner at Makaron (restaurant within Majeka House) can best be described as an adventure on a plate, as each element of our dishes was unique and a true sensory experience.

As a seasoned traveller, I can honestly say that Majeka House is one of the finest hotels I have ever visited. You will not be disappointed!

We were fortunate enough to stay a night at Majeka House a few weeks ago, and what a treat it was... From the decor to the food, our eyes and mouths were satisfied. The food at the in house restaurant, Makaron, was absolutely amazing! We had the Rib eye and the Springbok, which for those who have never tried Springbok, its well worth it! Melt-in-your-mouth. The room was beautifully designed and decorated, with a center hanging TV that could rotate to either watch from the comfort of your bed in front of the gas fire place (perfect for the colder nights!) To top it off, the breakfast the next morning was a royal feast, with the biggest buffet selection and the best fried mushrooms with my eggs. Lastly the spa was heavenly, we were treated to the Himalayan Crystal Salt bed, with the most friendly and helpful staff. We will definitely be back again!

Room Tip: Try opt for one of the Suites if available, well worth it.

We had a wonderful time, and would rate everything 10 /10, except I felt that the food could have been more child friendly, as most things on the menu where for an older palate. (my kids were all under 8)

Room Tip: Numbers 501 and 502 are inter leading and good for travelling with kids and you then have your own p...

My husband and I checked in last minute while in town for a wedding. Wow - we made the right choice! We chose the Premier Room, which was just heavenly. The grounds are immaculate and facilities beautiful. Definitely try eating at the restaurant, Makaron, where we were treated to a delicious and memorable dinner.

The DVD library was a unique and fun touch!

Room Tip: I would ask for one of the upstairs room if possible.

We visited Cape Town,April 1-8 2012 for an Easter vacation; a decision we made on March 26th. With little time and little knowledge,we turned to Trip Advisor reviews and found www. Winedesk .co.za whom we used for help with all our arrangements.
Winedesk.co.za was/is efficient, reliable, helpful, patient and flexible. Ligia, the director is awesome and we were happy with all arrangements. On such short notice she was able to prepare an itinerary and make bookings based on the number of days in SA and our interests. She booked our hotels, tours, drivers, wine visits, restaurants, and arranged for airport pickup, which was great given that we arrived at midnight after 31 hrs. of travel. Once we got to Cape Town, she refined our itinerary as necessary. Highly, highly recommended. Use Winedesk.co.za
First, we stayed at The Radisson Blu in Cape Town and had a room overlooking the Ocean. The hotel is perfectly situated in that it is on the ocean, a few minutes walk to the V&A waterfront or you can use the hotel shuttle. The staff were great, and went out of their way to be helpful, including taking us to the waterfront before the scheduled shuttle, buying us tickets online to Table Mountain and helping us avoid the long lines, making restaurant bookings etc.
The breakfast buffet was lavish, and fresh and the made to order omelets etc perfect.. On the second morning the breakfast cook, Charlotte, a wonderful woman remembered what I had and how I liked it, wow!!.
We did a Peninsular tour with David, arranged through the Winedesk, and he was patient, kind, fun , and well prepared. He even brought a cooler with water for our trip.
Next, we did a two day wine tour and spent one night in Stellenbosch and another night in Franschhoek, again arranged by Ligia from Winedesk. Wayne our guide and driver was interesting, passionate about wines, flexible and knowledgeable about the area, the wineries, restaurants etc. He was helpful in guiding us on selections for tastings and steering us to wineries .
In Stellenbosch , we stayed at Majeka House , a beautifully designed, relaxing property.Dinner at Majeka House was excellent and perhaps the best in all our travels around the globe. The spa was heavenly, and we appreciated Lloyd the owner stopping by to chat with us during breakfast.(hope you make that RV trip across the US)
Next we stayed at Akademie in Franschhoek and was greeted by Hazel and shown to our mansion, Gelatenheid for the night , complete with our private pool in a gorgeous garden setting, and an outdoor tub on our second floor wrap around balcony. Wines, beers, liquors, snacks champagne, etc. were all complementary and having an outdoor soak with candles and champagne is truly magnificent.Breakfast was great and owner Katherine was interesting, wonderful and we were pleased to learn that all the paintings in our accommodations were done by her dad.Enormous attention to details, privacy and amenities describe this property.
Not to be missed were lunches at Clos Malverne in Stellenbosch and La Petite Ferme in Franschhoek . La Petite Ferme has the best wine tour and tastings ever by the owner followed by an awesome lunch and magnificent views.
While we enjoyed all and many wineries, we felt that the setting at Ernie Els was best..
Throughout our stay, we received great customer service from all the South Africans that we interacted with; kind, courteous and helpful is how we would describe them all

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Owner-managed and blissfully private, Majeka House is an ideal base from which to explore the historical town of Stellenbosch with its interesting shops, galleries, museums, and alfresco café culture. Numerous famous vineyards and award-winning restaurants, dotted along the Stellenbosch wine route, are within striking distance. This prime location combines with luxurious accommodation, thoughtful service, a sophisticated bar and restaurant, a professionally run spa and spacious grounds to create what is undoubtedly one of the most stylish boltholes in the Cape Winelands. After extensive renovations and a designer makeover in 2011, Majeka House now boasts 22 rooms and sophisticated yet witty interiors. There are two new luxury mountain suites above the main hotel with large mountain-view balconies, and three new junior garden suites overlooking a shared, exclusive-use pool area. And, while the entire hotel is ‘parent friendly’, there’s also a fully self- contained villa – set apart from the main hotel and with a large private pool and garden – that is designed specifically with families in mind. The new suites were all conceptualised and decorated by interior design wunderkind Etienne Hanekom, who is also responsible for the award-winning interiors of Makaron Restaurant, the lobby and bar. They capture a sense of drama with boldcolours, rich textures and eye-catching custom-designed wallpapers but are also comfortable, inviting spaces for complete rest and relaxation. All contain thoughtful extras, such as comfy Crocs instead of hotel slippers, a Lavazza espresso machine, Wi-Fi internet and a DVD player with a wide choice of movies. The spacious and cleverly designed en suite bathrooms are fragrant with local toiletries made with indigenous plant extracts. In Makaron Restaurant, a stylish, contemporary interior using a clever mix of repurposed and recycled furniture complemented by modern statement pieces has been created. The result is a visually stimulating space that offers extreme comfort and encourages complete immersion in the dining experience. The overall effect is an understated feeling of luxury.Airy and light, the restaurant overlooks lush gardens and leads onto a sheltered terrace for alfresco dining. It is in this stimulating setting that resident chef Tanja Kruger presents her menu of fresh, modern cuisine grounded in the French classics. ... more   less
