“A gem!”
Reviewed July 24, 2013

I stayed at Batavia for two nights whilst on business in Stellenbosch. Batavia was great from start to finish ... gorgeous room (thought not much space to unpack, which wasn't a problem with me being on business), very friendly team, great breakfasts and wi-fi. And the location just off Dorp St was very central and part of the beautiful historic 'Cape Dutch' quarter. Within walking distance of top restaurants. Highly recommended. Wish I could have stayed longer.

We stayed 3 nights in Batavia Hotel and basically everything was great.
The staff are very friendly, the breakfast is fantastic, rooms are set out with decor to match the embiance of the period.

The bathroom was comfortable, we only had the shower but we prefer that.

Location ia brilliant! Within walking distance of some great restaurants, Bistros, shopping centre and pubs.

Should you wish to watch some late noght TV, the channels are limited, however a DVD and CD player in the room can be used and you could design your own entertainment.

FREE WiFi! wow, that was great, reasonable speed which was ample for facebook, e-mail and banking.

Room Tip: We had a room overlooking the street, no problems...... I am sure all rooms are fantastic, each pr...

It's not that far from the city and for such a hotel its worth it! The location was amazing, the staff were wonderful; we felt like were staying in a house because of cozy it was. I think its a great place for couples to stay.

We arrived extra early and they let us check in anyway, that was awesome! We headed up to the room, not much of a view but big enough. Separate roomy shower and massive bath. We stayed for 2 nights. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the service was excellent. So close to all the bars and restaurants we didn't need to drive!

My group travelled to Stellenbosch for business, 04-08 March 2013. We were referred to Batavia because the hotel that our team stayed in previously was booked on our requested dates. Suzaan and Hanco were amazingly prompt on their responses to our request and made booking the hotel accommodations so easy. We were delighted with our stay. Batavia is a beautiful boutique hotel from a renovation a few years back. The owners have decorated the hotel quite stunningly and each room is unique. The service was fantastic and we enjoyed our breakfast each morning. Even though we had to leave quite early each morning, Suzaan happily organized early breakfasts for us and catered to our liking. The rooms are so lovely and the internet worked well! I did have an issue with the room phone. Since we are international travelers, we did not have mobile phones. It was difficult for individuals to phone us after hours given that there was no direct number to our room, and the hotel representative had to use a switch board to transfer calls, and struggled with this at times. Also, the beds were not the softest.
